Snakefighter Map

Post by Corporal Hicks » Mon Sep 08, 2014 1:56 am

This map is not approved. I can change it if Pale Rider wants, or if I did something wrong. Just let me know, guys! I don't see why there would be 4 airlocks, but I am maybe underestimating how large the ship is

I think it is bigger, the data I can find indicates it supports up to 100 personnel, and has 30 actual bunks set for hot-bunking, in addition to the cryo room. (so, about full platoons of Marines) Also has a Medical bay. Granted, both directions could be an issue of Scale

Looking at the pictures, however, I don't see anything thats clearly a docking port. On the other hand, given that the left & right outside are huge engine nacelles, and it doesn't seem very logical to put an airlock through a jet engine, I'd assume that the docking-airlock is actually topside. (See Lando's exit from the Falcon when recovering Luke in Empire Strikes Back). There might also be one off the front or bottom of the cargo level to facilitate mid-space resupplying. The main cargo ramps, however, I doubt are used for that, as it'd be pretty hard to air-lock a ramp.

I've always assumed its an extremely tight fit on the ship, but this is part of the issue with operating with the Snakefighter - we don't know specifics. We're forced to make them up as we go.

Either way you can fill in the blanks with the current map - Mainly because I highly doubt this mission is gonna take place on our ship too long.

I figured it was something in the mid-upper-bulk freighter size category, but a military gunboat instead of a cargo vessel.

It appears to be something like the APC, which as we see in the movies is distantly related to the TARDIS. (ie, bigger on the inside) ::)

Here is my understanding of where our troops are located. If there is any argument with any of these placements, please post it.

I doubt it will matter, but I thought I would post a map of our seating in the APC. At least this way we can all be on the same page about where people are sitting.

this was all i could find, but i am on night shifts so could be missing loads.

NTV Mk 1 SNAKEFIGHTER

Nicknamed the Snakefighter by its design team, the NTV Mk1 is a unique “super dropship” in that it provides a platoon with interstellar mobility and relative self-sufficiency. Its flanks dominated by enormous thruster pods, the Snakefighter is capable of rapid atmospheric maneuvering, high sublight velocity in space, and substantial payload hauling.
Standard crew complement is 10, comprising a pilot, copilot, weapons officer / navigator, and engineer. In case of “crew attrition, “ (ie casualties), much of the ship’s functions can be handled by relatively inexperienced personnel, due to a high level of automation and user-friendly design. The living quarters are spartan, and the lack of bunk space forces the crew members to rotate their eating and sleeping. The medlab is fairly basic, intended for patching up non-lethal combat injuries.
The main loading ramp is divided into two smaller loading ramps, which can be operated independently of each other. A crane in the ceiling of the cargo bay aids vehicle maintenance and cab be used for storage.
The tactical command post is similar to a standard APC interior, with maps, monitors, and a sliding command chair.

In case there is 100 marines who like duel-wielding?

Also that Snakefighter information would have helped me make a more accurate map, but it didn't end up mattering.

On another note, I'm looking forward to nuking the enemy! Nobody messes with the USCM ooh-rah!

They probably put the pistols all in there just because they could. I assume they are referring to the VP-70 pistols (which are noted as being the standard pistols of the USCM now), and they could probably get 200 of them in the space that it would take to store those 30 M41A Pulse Rifles.

But I'd just tack it on to the other points that make the Snakefighter dismally impractical...... case in point................ we lost a naval battle to a f*$&ing freighter.......... cus your not gonna convince me that them essentially not crushing us to take us a prize is a win.......

Yes Morse, but for them it will be a Pyrrhic victory... Namely because they are about to be blown to kingdom come! Ooh-rah!
