Re: Eagle Strike Strategy
Yeah, but if the escape pods are sitting ducks, what do you call a ground vehicle floating through space, vacuum rated or not.
That point aside, I love the idea.

Re: Eagle Strike Strategy
It does not specifically say it is 'not' rated for space. However, the heavily armored and air tight death machine will probably hold up when compared to a bunch of... unstable escape pods...
And at least we probably get some serious propulsion by firing that big gun at our backs.... just sayin...

Re: Eagle Strike Strategy
The APC is NBCV rated (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, Vacuum resistant), so it could last quite a while. However, a point to be made is that there isn't enough room for everyone. So some would have to go into the pod and some into the APC.
And the nuke idea is to scuttle the Snakefighter, prevent the pirates from keeping it. Put it on a one-hour timer, and we should be well clear of the blast radius.

Re: Eagle Strike Strategy
Pretty sure there's room in the APC for everyone..... just not necessarily standing room..... Though I'd bet money that Dirk'll volunteer to sit in that pod.......

Re: Eagle Strike Strategy
As somebody who is both detail oriented, and has seen the movie Aliens roughly 100-500 times, I will weigh in on this matter.
On the APC, there are eight seats in the back where the marines can sit. There is also a seat at the command center where Gorman sits. There is also seating for Ripley and Burke. There is a driver's seat and I would assume somewhere for the weapons operator to sit. There should be room for all of us.
Here is the interior view according to Dugan's wikispace:

Yeah, we'll fit with 2 seats to spare, and that's counting Pope and the civilians. Driving an APC out an airlock into dead space isn't exactly orthodox, but then what that our group does is? Drag in extra MREs, water and maybe a CO2 Scrubber refill and it'll be good.
On that note, I wonder if we can line the escape pods to auto-eject, use them as decoys.

Re: Eagle Strike Strategy
MREs and water is smart. I also think we should empty as much of the armory into the APC as we can.
We should also eject the escape pods too.

I don't know - the weapons won't do us much good out there in space, unless you think they're going to bring the APC on board as a trojan horse. What space we have in the APC should probably be used for survival gear.

Re: Eagle Strike Strategy
I agree with Quick here. I think I'd rather have the increased food supplies..... and a s*$& bucket..... over a bunch of ammo that we won't use. - I think that a standard combat load will be fine in case they actually pick us up.
Lets just get the shit into APC, hop in, and lets go goin before we die of no oxygen.
