Turn 16: On the Road Again

With a roar of engines and flurry of loose gravel, the three APACs rolled out of the courtyard and tore back down the colony's main drag towards the fortified transport hub that housed both the Weyland-Yutani facility and the USCMC Garrison. panicked civilians ran back and forth across the street ahead of the convoy, several of them almost getting run over by the speeding military transports. Up ahead, the towering shape of the space elevator rose up from the center of the colony into the darkness of the sky. Marauding gunships buzzed around the tower like angry wasps, coming close to deliver stings of rockets and cannon-fire before being driven away by flurries of tracer from the anti-aircraft guns mounted on the outer skin of the great dome of the transport hub.
As the convoy approached its destination, a pair of the gunships peeled away from their assault on the space elevator and its anchoring buildings and tracked directly in on the Devil Dawgs location. Threat warning indicators lit up and alarms began to blare in all the APAC cabins as the vehicle's sensor suites detected the hostile attack radar lighting them up. Each gunship deployed 2 missiles. The sleek, ominous, shapes dropping away from their wing mounts and falling clear of the aircraft's slipstream before igniting their engines and powering towards their ground-bound targets.
Automated systems in APAC's sensed the threat and fought back in an effort to save the lives of their fragile human cargo. Decoy launchers mounted on the rooftops rotated to face the threat and spat a hail of little projectiles into the path of the incoming missiles. The decoys were a mixture of chaff pellets to spoof radar, magnesium flares to dazzle IR guidance, gamma-ray laser pulse to blind LIDAR and EMP burst to scramble guidance systems. The hail of decoys exploded in-front of and around the incoming missiles. 2 of the missiles exploded in flight, 1 went stupid and headed off over the horizon. The last lost its lock on APAC 1 and plowed into the ground floor of a hab-block just ahead of the lead vehicle before exploding, bringing the 6-story building crashing down into the street in a tangle of mangled girders, rubble and brick dust which completely blocked the street and, more importantly, the convoy's route to the Transport Hub.
The gunships buzzed overhead and circled to make another approach from the clear end of the street...
