1st squad finished securing the bar as Sykes disappeared through the sparkly stage curtain into the backstage area. The civvies were hustled up against the walls, with many glares and muttered protests, and held at gunpoint by watchful the marines.

The squad radio chirped in their ear-pieces:

"This is Hall...we're at the Back Door...situation is Secure here....need us to barge in?"

Before anyone could respond another signal cut over link, broadcasting on the platoon-wide channel. it was choppy and crackled in and out as if the speaker's mic wasn't properly connected to the radio:

"...problem. I'm just going to set this down on the ground. You're in control... nothing to worry about... all Marines here, I'm Sergeant Major Danny Sykes. We... here to hurt you, that isn't our objective. What are your... like those company bastards did some fucked up shit to you and you deserve better... can help you I would like to try. But just take your time to think about what's right here, my people aren't going to put anyone at risk. You are in control."

Clearly, something was going on in the back room. Henniger's drone was still in orbit over the building and it's Infra-red camera showed 6 heat signatures in the rear of the building. 1 of them was tagged with Sykes' name and ID number which the drone was receiving from the Sergeant-Major's PID implant. The other 5 were unknowns, the buildings thick ceiling occluding the signals to much for further identification.

Henniger pinged Sykes and Harper immediately as his display alerted him to the five unknown foot mobiles. The drone was typical front-line technology so he couldn't get detailed imagery this high up in orbit ninety meters up through solid ferrocrete. It just knew they were humanoid, and not friendlies.

"Sergeant Major," he commed Sykes over the platoon freq so everyone could hear. "Henniger. Drone shows five unknowns surrounding you at your Poz. Running Colony PDT up the ladder now."

<Tag Sykes>

He then commed Harper.

"LT, dropping drone from perimeter orbit to run ID scan. If it won't pick up in one minute, I'll pull it up and back into its cover pattern." Technically he should be asking permission to deviate, however, he was a Recon Marine, he was usually expected to think outside the box along with latitude in the purview of his objectives.
<tag Harper>

Henniger dropped the drone quickly but carefully to land on the roof roughly atop Sykes' location and punched the PDT scanner. It had been years since he'd run full functions on drones, but his comtech secondary training had stated that theoretically they could pick up PDT transmitters on old band radio waves through solid structures. He initiated the scan.

Paulson heard the garbled transmission and was torn between going in through the back doors and covering the chef. As he had started the role before he choose the latter, slowly he let his squad mates past him and he maintained his concentration on the big man on his knees.

the rest of the squad went through the first door into the small hall way, they were just one thin door away from being able to back up Sykes.

the big man flicked his eyes to Paulsons weapon a couple of times, but remained on his knees, the distance was to great for the man to cover quickly and it was obvious, paulson would get off one or two shots easilly. Paulson did not want to do this as he had no idea what a sudden shot gun blast would do to the situation inside, but the big chef had no way of knowing this and judging from the small trickle of sweat coming from his brow he was very very nervous indeed.

Sykes heard Henniger's communication through his ear and decided that his team knew something was wrong. If they didn't, they would soon know when he didn't answer Henniger's communication. He decided to try and relay some information that his team could use. First he had to let them know that two of the signals in the room were civilian hostages. He spoke in a very calm, casual, and friendly voice that was designed to de-escalate the situation. "There's three of you and only one of me. Two of you have pistols and I'm unarmed, so you can relax because you are in control here. Those two girls in the corner are not a threat to you." The first part of his task was complete, now he had to talk them down. He would use the actual excuse that he had been given when this mission started. "We are here to evacuate the civilian populace for their own safety. That's our primary directive. Listen, men, I work for the Marine Corps, I don't work for those company shits. Now, I'm gonna tell you the truth here because you're Marines and you deserve to know the truth. We were contacted by some Company bitch named Eckford after we started our mission here. She warned us that they were testing some vaccine bullshit on my fellow Marines and warned us to look out for you. Well, I am gonna be honest with you, I'm not about to help some scheming company bitch put my fellow jarheads in jeopardy."

There wasn't a bullet between his eyes yet, so that was a good sign. His objective now was to get the civilians out of harms way through compromise. The hostage compromise was designed to favor the rescuers because it took advantage of human psychology to get compromise out of the unstable hostage-takers. "You guys are smart and you were trained well. You know how I can tell? Because you got me and I'm the best person who can help you. My guys are going to notice I'm missing and come check on me in a minute. But I can order them to pull out and they'll do exactly what I say. I will do that for you but I need something from you in return. I need you to let at least one of the girls go. You don't need them anymore, I am a more useful asset. They didn't do anything wrong and they don't need to be caught up in this."

Henniger heard every word. He felt cold, and white hot anger burned his veins.

Sykes was staring down a hostage crew. And he was sitting behind a drone. His options slowly ticked by in his mind. His drone was packing light weapons, nothing he could or would use through a roof and with his Top underneath.
He could keep trying to scan their PDTs so he could send the info up through the Company suit woman, at least that would give Sykes some informational advantage while he stalled. But that took time, he hadn't gotten a packet hit yet on the scanner.
His third option was to abandon his post, lock and load, and try to make entry. Didn't make sense so as comforting as the thought was, he immediately discarded it.

He keyed the general freq and spoke softly.
"Roger Top. Your situation is precarious. Scanning PDT now, might buy you time."
<tag Sykes>

He called Harper privately.

"LT, I'm sure you caught Sykes' on comm but he's staring down bad guys on his own. Recommend entry initiation of other squads, I'm still trying to get PDT data off them by drone. If it doesn't work I'll put it in auto orbit and permission to join breaching team."

Things had become very dynamic and in no-time they were in the midst of a hostage situation. Worse, one of the hostages was the Platoon NCO. Great, just fucking great. Daniela focused on the incoming intel, provided by Sykes and Henninger, while covering the later. OK, stay calm, Daniela and think ...

First, she spoke to Henniger with comms off as she was standing right next to him ...
"Henniger, get the drone back in"
<Tag Henniger>

Then she activated her comms ...
"Sgt Morse, i want first squad to get all the civies out of the bar now through the main entrance. As quiet as possible. Wait until 3rd Squad has joined you."
<Tag Morse and 1st Squad>

"Sgt Hall, enter through the side entrance quietly. Secure that room. If my schematic intel is corret, there should be five other doors. In clockwise, the first connects to the main bar area, where 1st squad is, the second connects to SgtMaj Sykes and the hostages, third and forth should be male and female rest rooms and the last leads to a small room, probably a small office. Take a look a the rest rooms and the office."
<Tag Hall and 2nd Squad>

"3rd Squad, escort the captured civilan back to me. PFC Williams will keep an eye on him. Lance Corporal Henniger, after bringing the drone in enter through the main entrance quietly and secure the entrance to the hostage situation area, after that, 1st Squad gets the civies out. Prepare to breach, if the situation gets out of hand."
<Tag Henniger and 3rd Squad>

"Sgt Maj Sykes, try to talk some sense into them and buy us more time."

Having been waiting around, watching the chef and Paulson's shotgun pointing at the man, she hears the sound of the radio start to liven again with orders. Having heard the call to bring the man back to the entrance, Sokolova nods to Paulson, but responds back in the headset the thing they were trained to always speak, "Yes ma'am."

Tanya mentions to Paulson soon after, "Okay. We get orders... Bring him back to the front while they clear the inside." She then turns her attention toward the chef, the hammer in hand going to a slightly less hostile position, being at rest in both hands, yet still a firm enough grip on it. "That means you come with us. Niet funny business. For safety, we need you to come with us to the front, da? Up on your feet."

<Tag Paulson>

Stepping to the opposite side of where Paulson is in position to the man, she motions to the man to go down the alley way with her to the entrance of the alley, while keeping herself turned slightly to keep the man in her sight. Trying to reassure the man, she mentions to him, "You are nie the one we are looking for. Just need you to listen to us and things go back to normal when we leave."

Paulson heard the orders come through, and then the instructions from Sokolova, You heard the lady, move slow and carefully.

Paulson took a small step away from the chef making sure his weapon was not in a reachable area, so far the chef had been super compliant and looked totally subservient but better safe than sorry, even with the shotgun round a lanyard over his shoulder making it very hard for him to be disarmed, the last thing this hostage situation needed was for a flight to break out and a gun to go off accidentally.

Samantha took a deep breath, let it go and answered her CO..."Aye-aye ma'am"....

Moving 2nd squad to the side door, she whispered behind her to the others; "Okay...this situation is tricky...stay alert and watch your targets...try NOT to shoot a civvie, but don't nobody be a hero and get demselves killed or I'll take it personal, got it?" she said with a smile on her face to try and get everyone to cool down a bit. Then she got serious; "Stay Frosty, remember. your training and trust each other...let's get this done".

With that, she moved quickly in thru the side door while diving forward in a tuck and roll and came up with her shotgun covering the area....
