Turn 1: Breakfast
Date: February 13th, 2190
Time: 0800 hours (Local Time)
Location: Mess Hall, USCMC Starfort "Nebraska", Ariarcus Mining Colony, Kruger 60 System
The mess hall of Starfort Nebraska was full of the rattle of cutlery, the chatter of voices and the aroma of hot coffee when the Devil Dawgs arrived. A couple of platoons worth of the local garrison were just finishing their breakfast and heading to their duty stations and the cooks were busily clearing dirty plates from tables and refilling the counter's hotplates and tureens with fresh cooked scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and the ever-present USCMC cornbread.
There looked to be plenty to go around and the coffee actually smelled like it was made with roasted beans rather than burnt toast and used grounds from the officers mess but the Dawgs were on the clock. Briefing was in half an hour and the new boss didn't seem like the kind of guy you kept waiting.

Henniger dropped the burning butt of his smoke in the remains of the coffee.
"See y'all in the briefing." He said to his table mates and made his way out of the DFAC.

"Chow up, people," said Sykes enthusiastically, slapping his hands on Paulson's shoulders and shaking him benevolently. He moved into line and poured himself a cup of coffee. He sat down at the table and inhaled deeply before taking a sip. "Man, that's actually decent coffee. Should we be worried? Heh heh," he chuckled and took another sip. "How you doing, Morse? Still with us?"

SGT Samantha Hall had groggily woken up, robotically went along with the med-techs poking and prodding her and then was on her way to get a shower and a meal when some 'By God, I AM THE CORPS' asshole decided to treat them like they were in boot camp, calling himself God, telling them what little time they have and promptly swaggered out. Sam said, not so quietly to herself, "And I re-upped for DIS?" to nobody in particular....
After a heavenly shower, she dried herself off, got dressed and went to the mess-hall and got a plate of food and some hot tea. Smiling tiredly at Sykes' attempt to lighten the mood, she replied; "I'll take your word for it mon....I never did like de taste of coffee." She wolfed down her food and then moved with the herd to the briefing....

Davros walked into the cafeteria and began to do his usual routine of counting chairs, floor squares, tables and people as he walked to the chow line. He had them give him two helpings of eggs, holy shit they were real eggs and grabbed a cup of fresh brewed real coffee. He sat down with his fellow Devil Dawgs, and made small talk about what they had all done on their last shore leave, while he wolfed down his food. He took just an extra second to savor the eggs and sipped rather than gulped his coffee. He heard his fellow marines saying things like, "Man, that's actually decent coffee. Should we be worried? Heh heh," and "yup, we should probably be worried" Davros was probably going to pay close attention that that brain mouth problem that he had. Sykes tolerated his usual crap because of his skills, but this new guy, his ass was so tight if he farted only dogs would hear it. "Can't wait to see what FUBAR shit we run into this time." Davros mumbled mostly to himself.

Clint found his platoon mates in the mess hall and gave a nod to them while enjoying the warm breakfast and the smell of actual coffee. He listened to the audio files he was able to dig up on the Kruger system with a set of headphones in his right ear, while trying to keep up with the minimal conversation at the table. It didn't seem like anyone else was over what had happened below the surface, despite the shore leave. He took a sip of the coffee and ate some of the food, glancing at a visual on his datapad. Noticing the time approaching, he drank down the remainder of the coffee and scooped the last of the eggs into his mouth, following the rest of the platoon.

Re: Turn 1: Breakfast
Sokolova found her seat down in the mess hall, making sure to find where the rest of the squad was, getting ready to sit down for a surprisingly good smelling meal and food. Hearing one of the comments fired off about the food actually being good for once, somewhat surprising, but meaning something was likely up to cause such an occasion... or at least to remind her that it was all down hill on mess hall meals from here, making her chuckle a little as she grabs some of the warm coffee and a good breakfast meal. She added something of her own to the conversation, "I would guess they take this out of other budgets."
Though not having much to add to the conversation at the time, she figured she'd get on with her meal, savoring the last bit of good food she'd likely have in time, save for maybe a good selection of rations being issued she hoped. But for the coffee that actually tasted like Columbian grounds and not something like powdered motor oil, it was much more desirable.
