Turn 7: The Prisoner (Marines)

The black-armored individual slowly descended the stairs toward the waiting Marines, his hands held above his head. All the Marines had their weapons trained on the terrorist; they had shown already that they were willing to blow themselves up to avoid capture. Sergeant Duncan turned to Sykes and muttered in his Irish brogue, “You tink he’s gonna try sometin?” Sykes nodded without taking his eyes off the enemy. “Follow my lead, ten.”

Sergeant Duncan put his rifle on the ground and stepped forward cautiously. “Put your hands on your head,” he said, miming the action by putting his hands on his helmet. The terrorist cautiously put his black-gloved hands on his black helmet. Then Duncan pulled off his helmet in a flash and hurled it with full force at the terrorist’s face. The man tried to shield his head reflexively, but the thrown helmet struck the tinted glass of his helmet with a loud crack. The terrorist fell backwards to the ground, and Duncan charged in. He tied the man’s hands behind his back with a zip tie before he could recover from the attack.

“That’s what I call an arrest,” said the Police Captain with admiration.

Duncan pulled the helmet off the terrorist forcefully. The surprisingly high voice of the man could be heard shouting what must be curses in an unrecognizable language. He was clean shaven with buzzed hair, and he appeared to be Chinese.

“That was a nice throw,” said Sergeant Major Sykes as he approached.
“I was a pitcher in high school,” replied Duncan with a grin. “So, what do we do wit tis sod?”

Sixtus had followed along behind Morse, attending to any wounds when they came up amongst the platoon. When they came to the door and had to stack up, Sixtus ignited his flamer’s pilot light and adjusted the pressure on the tank. The door was breached and they all moved in. Quinn pivoted right to check his corner, verified that none were there, then made a spectacle by punching a flame blast to the catwalk.

”Clear right!” he barked, then the FWOOOOSH of the flamer neatly blocking a chunk of view from the door, allowing the rest of the Marines in the stack to enter and handle their targets. Then an explosion that pushed Quinn to the floor like everyone else, and he heard the radio traffic about the Life Support console being destroyed. Which meant this station would be uninhabitable until a new one could be attached. Sixtus pulled on his rebreather, because an explosion like that might mean an oxygen leak.

The last terrorist was “apprehended”, and Quinn shook his head at the unorthodox method.

If it’s stupid and it works, it ain’t stupid. the old adage went.

”Staff Sarn’t, with Life Support down, we need to get out of here. It’s going to get hard to breathe with this many bodies.” he said as he killed the pilot light on his flamer, addressing Morse.

the lone survivor had been restrained and Paulson heard Quinn report on the state of the life support, he wasn't sure if it was his imagination or was it already getting harder to breath, how long would station air last even supplemented by re-breathers? it would not hold out long. They were going to have to get the hell out of here and quickly, it was only then that Paulson started thinking about how for they had come from the docking bay and that the ship had in fact already left anyway.

Hall had replied to Morse's order with a quick, "Aye-aye", and nodded her head at Dmitri with a quick; "Nice shooting" and moved towards the black-armored Merc with her shotgun pointing at him/her the whole time. Before she got there, she saw Duncan move in and take him prisoner, so she just shrugged and said; "Hey 'dere Duncan. Morse asked me to secure dis one, so I'll take it from here mon."

With that, she moved the zip-tied Merc to move back towards where Morse and Dmitri were standing, keeping an eye on the prisoner the whole time while telling/asking Morse, "I got de Merc, you want Dmitri to help secure 'dis place?"

Henniger watched the prisoner takedown with a lopsided grin. He shook his head and stowed his nearly empty magazine away in a dump pouch. He rammed a new one into the well and checked the chamber for a fresh round.

He took stock of his equipment. He had 1 magazine left after the fresh one in his weapon, still full on pistol mags. He shrugged and slung his rifle. He flicked loose rounds out of his used magazines and reloaded one of them. Now he had two full and one at 40 rounds. He watched the female 'Marine take custody of the merc. He walked up to his squad leader and stage whispered to him with his back to the live prisoner.

"Halfway on ammo Sarge."

He turned back to the scene with the prisoner and pulled his weapon from his shoulder to rest across his arms.

Isabel turned to hear Quinn's statement about life support being down and a lack of breathable air situation coming soon. She pulled her rebreather on and tightened it up, reminding her of her time on Capua. She felt a tinge of blush come to her cheeks thinking about some of the things that had gone on down on the planet. She eyed Quinn briefly but then turned her eyes and thoughts back to the mission at hand. She checked her ammo count and ran a quick medical sweep to make sure she hadn't caught any shrapnel.

She listened to the discussion and brought her rifle down to a low ready position, keeping the stock to her shoulder. "Nice throw there sergeant Duncan" she said as she smiled at the Irish sergeant. She tried to keep her awareness up and eyes scanning the room with some glances made to the hallway they had just come from.

Micky Duncan gave Samantha a sheepish grin, “Sorry ‘bout tat, Sergeant. Not tryin’ ta step on your toes, I promise you.” He brushed past her as he moved to recover his helmet.

"Nice throw there sergeant Duncan" she said as she smiled at the Irish sergeant.
“Tank you, Miss. All in a day’s work,” he replied casually with a big smile and a wink at the pretty Private.

Sergeant Major Sykes was talking to someone in his earpiece. “Yes, Sir… I’m sorry, Sir, we have failed in our objective. The enemy detonated the consoles… No… Yes, we are operational… Beg pardon, Sir, shouldn’t we be evacuating?... Oh, I see… Thank you, Sir… Understood, Sir… Very good, Sir… Yes, Sir.”

He took the earpiece off, “Alright people, we are moving out. Our objective is to reach the bridge, they have something planned for us from there.” He glanced down at the prisoner with cold eyes, “I guess we can’t get anything out of him yet unless somebody here speaks Chinese. I think I’ve seen enough to guess what he’s going to tell us anyway. Sergeant Hall, you have the duty, make sure he stays out of trouble. If he tries something, you have permission to shoot him. Move out, people!”

Morse, come here for a second,” Sykes beckoned to Morse.

(OOC: For those who don't remember how whispers work, you can roll to overhear the conversation. Either post or message me if you want to overhear it, and I will roll for it. Of course there's the risk that your SgtMaj will catch you in the act... buahaha)

Battle over, Dmitri let out a long slow breath and held it, willing everything to go still in his head. After a slow count to five, he sucked in a deep breath through his nose, and moved out with Sam.

Good to go.

When he heard the request to secure the space, he looked at Morse expectantly. Then the call came in over Sar-Major's comms and the situation changed again. Get one task done, move on to the other. Leave or stay, it was all the same for Dmitri. He secured his shit, made sure he was loaded with a fresh mag, and stood ready for new orders.

He kept his eyes moving and his head on a swivel, though. Just because the shooting stopped didn't necessarily mean they'd run out of hostiles to shoot.

Paulson checked his ammo he was down to one mag in his pistol, given that his flamer was of limited situational use he searched the down combatants for compatible ammo to top up on.

Morse without hesitation moved over towards Sykes. He adjusted his helmet to ensure it was on straight to keep things comfortable and tight on his body. The situation was about to get worse, everyone standing there knew that. But Morse was likely about to be handed information that may alter the situation, and not likely for the better. He lowered his weapon and came in close enough to try to avoid being overheard.

Sokolova was satisfied with the Pyrrhic victory in life support. After losing fellow Marines to the terrorists, she was thirsty for terrorist blood. She was quite pleased with the result of using her new ‘toy,’ the SHARP rifle.

As she saw Sykes calling Morse over for a quiet conversation, she couldn’t resist the temptation of trying to listen. She turned to the side so that she wasn’t looking at them, but her ear was in their direction.

Result of GM dice roll:

It was hard to make out the words, but she was able to piece together some of what they were saying. She tried not to give away any emotion on her face from what she heard.
