The Marines fanned out each doing his own particular assignment. Lieutenant Sykes and his crew began to make noise, the Sentry Gun was set into place. No sooner had it been activated when it began to swivel back and forth as if picking up signals. "Get the motion detectors online now," Sykes barked, his voice showing the strain of the situation! Pvt. Colson swung up the motion detector and it began to sing a song of many moving their way. "Sir, I have multiple readings 5 bogeys inbound. Make that 7, no make that 10." The Sentry gun began to spray the tunnel in the direction it was pointing.

Sergeant Dirk and 2nd Squad advanced down their corridor, using as much stealth as possible. They heard the sounds of the Sentry Gun coming online. It's firing muffled through the material that made up the wall that seemed to separate the two Squads. As they rounded the second corner a massive shape rose up before them. A hissing sound filled the air!

Sykes raised his flamethrower, ready for action. He felt fear run up his spine but he was ready. "Guns front! Hall and Mitchell watch our Six."

Samantha Hall felt the adrenaline spike in her system but did her best to take a deep breath and keep it together.

"Got It!"; she called back to Sykes while keeping an eye on the flank; her Pulse Rifle at the ready and senses on high alert....

The set up had been routine and simple. Morse and the others had prepared a defensive line a dozen times, and even if some of them only had the practice of simulation or training, it was still more then enough to be effective. But no sooner then they were prepared were they hearing the call of incoming signals on their way to them. Morse was not sure exactly what would have been alerted to their presence so quickly, or what would be so immediately suicidal as to charge them, but he certainly was not going to have any trouble killing whatever it was.

"Fuckin' idiots." Morse muttered to himself regarding whatever it was that was charging its way over to them.

He snapped up his M41A Pulse rifle, checked its ammo counter one last time to make sure that he was ready. Unlike years before, when he used a more experimental support weapon, he knew to keep the weapon prepared for burst. And though the weapon in his hands was not going to auto target as he had been previously used to, he was an incredibly lethal killing machine in his own right.

He had maintained his position to the rear, but when Sykes called for them to rotate, he was not going to question it. Morse liked the idea of stretching his legs, and certainly had been boiling with frustration since his various flags, filing of charges, and subsequent demotion. It was not a sick high he'd be getting from it, much more the conscious knowledge that his skills were going to be utilized. At least the Corps had gotten that part right and not wasted him in that way.

The whirring of the sentry gun was oppressive to the ears, but Morse kept behind it so that the drumming was not assaulting his senses so heavily. He got to a kneeling position, readied his weapon for what was coming, and prepared to unload his own volleys towards the assailants in the dark, which for the moment he could not see.
