Sykes felt the heat of the flame unit and it incinerated everything in front of him. Then he felt a terrible pain in his left thigh. He screamed "AHHHHHH, MOTHER FUCKER!" He let go of the trigger long enough to see the writhing enemy before him, then he squeezed it again just to make damn sure that thing was dead. What the hell was it? His leg hurt like hell, and he dropped to a knee, but kept the fire going until the screaming and writhing stopped. "What the FUCK! AHHHHHH MY LEG!!!" Danny had lost control of his tongue because of the pain. The thing he was killing seemed to be some kind of giant bug or spider.
(Roll: Gun combat again)

Sykes regained control of himself. He spoke into his comms unit so both squads could hear. "We have hostiles, some kind of giant bug. Repeat, multiple hostiles. I'm gonna need a medic, son of a BITCH!"

Perez's eyes searched for a valid target, as he suddenly noticed something to left of him. Sounds of movement, pacing rapidly over the surface. It was supposed to be fast and towards the squad. The automatism of endless smartgunner-trainings clicked in. He made a circling move towards the sound, the barrel of the smartgun followed smothly, thanks to the gyro-mounted arm. There. Someone, no some-THING darted towards the squad. A scorpion-like creature with a tail, moving on four limbs. The smartgun twichtched slightly, as the tracking-system acquired a target-lock on this ... thing. He triggered a short, controlled burst and felt the dampened recoil, as 10x28mm caseless bullets were sent on a very-short trip. This ... thing was quite fast and smart and tried to evade its fate. Upon seeing the muzzle fire of the smartgun, it tried to jump sideways, at least, this was Perez's impression. But the burst-shot was fired in a slight horizontal stray movement. He saw through his eyepiece the surface near the creature explode on impact of the bullets, but also the creature got hit on several spots. One of them struck the creature's head apparently, as it exploded in a green mess ...

"Target eliminated"

... he confirmed the kill, speaking with a calm tone into the micro. It was then, when he realised, besides the heat waves, that someone or some-THING screamed in terrible agony, apparently from inside of the APC, and then Sykes screamed, too. But he seemed to be wounded, not dead, because he was able to report his status and call for help. Thank god ...

"Watch it, guys, it's a fast, smart, scorpion-like creature moving on four limbs with the approximate size of a human. Never seen a bug like this before"
<Tag Eights>

... he reported the sightin, in order to get everbody up-to-date. But the courtain had not fallen yet, there had been a second signal. Did Wang said "from opposite directions"? Yes, she did. So he made the same, circling move to the opposite direction of the incoming bug, that got just greased. As long as there was another one of those ... things out there, he had to withstand the urge to look for Sykes. On the other hand, he was not a medic and that was exactly, what was needed now.

"Where are you?" ... he mumbled to himself, while switching into "search mode" again

Hearing this and getting no guidance from the rest of the squad, Clint began to jog the 200 yards or so towards the downed APC. He watched as 2nd's smartgun opened upon something and could see the orange glow of fire from the door of the other APC. Medic's en route to you, coming from your three o’clock he called out over the comms. “What kind of injury can I expect Corporal?” Clint tried to maintain muzzle discipline and situational awareness as he approached the area in a jog that would get him there quickly, but a pace that wouldn’t wind him too much.

nearly hell for Niki, really beside the apc

Nicole saw the shadow, but it was too late. It grabbed her and all what she saw was two kinds of mouth and she felt the salvia on
her skin. Ugly, pushy and not the kind of company she wanted. She tried not to panic.
But this wasn´t easy, she has never seen such a beast before but rembered she was in such a situation in the woods with her father.
Stay cool, Niki, remember the bear.

<roll will>

Then she tried to move and grab her shotgun and tried to shoot the beast in the head.
She didn´t know what would happen but otherwise better choice than beeing dead.

<Location: Area outside Hadley's Hope, near downed APC from the USS Sulaco>

there was no sign of the second scorpion yet, but suddenly a thought, that crawled some seconds to the surface, struck him like a wave of thunder ...

... Danny, the flamethrower, tons of burning plasma unleashed into the interior of the other APC ... into the INTERIOR ... where all those ammunition, sentry gun cases, explosives, fuel was stored? ... how much longer will the saftey storage boxes withstand the heat 'till fireworks ? ... oh shit ... if that APC blows, there will be nothing left of the whole squad, lest a wide, deep crater ...

He recognized through radio traffic, that the first squad's corpsman, McKenna, came over to treat to Syke's wounds. Perez activated the comm and gave his orders in a calm an precise tone ...

"Second Squad on me. Everybody retreats immediately into the APC. Wang, grab Sykes. Grayham, we cover the retreat. We have round about 30 seconds until the ammo stuff and explosives of the torched APC will blow up"
<Tag Second Squad>

"Priest, get the engines up, we are leaving"
<Tag Priest>

"McKenna, if you are too close to our position to retreat, get your ass into our APC, too. NOW MOVE IT, PEOPLE."
<Tag McKenna>

It was only then, that he heard a noise behind him. First, sharp claws on a rocky surface, then an impact, panting and a scream of surprise. As he circled around, he saw the mess. Grayham had found the second scorpion. In a literal sense. That thing sat upon her, it's tail whipping in exitment. The gun acquired a lock, but he could restrain himself from pulling the trigger at the very last moment. At this close range, the bullets would slice through that thing like a hot knife through butter. Even a stray bullet could be deadly for her at 10 yards at most. So there was nothing, he could do at the moment, besides retreating to the APC and waiting for an opportunity to kill that fucker.

While at first he thought it had been a minor wound, Danny began to feel the pain in earnest. Waves upon waves on terrible pain ran up his spine and he fell onto his back on the ground, moaning with pain, his eyes squeezed shut. "Ohhhh my god... SHIT!! SHI... Shi... Oh my..." his shouting sputtered out into gasps for air as the pain overwhelmed his senses. Now in complete panic, he spoke in a gasping whisper. "Help... Medic... med... My god..."
"Medic's en route to you, coming from your three o’clock," he called out over the comms. “What kind of injury can I expect Corporal?”
Danny responded as well as he could, "Help... Leg... My leg."

Lieutenant Hayden Knutson's bad feeling had turned out to be true. Now one of his men was down, and they were under attack. When Perez pointed out the danger of a burning APC, Knutson couldn't help but agree. "Marines, we are falling back," he spoke in an even tone, "Second squad, McKenna, and Hall, back to the APC. Jonsson, hold position and wait for us to come and get you." He then attempted to help McKenna with moving Sykes.

Clint and Lt Knutson grabbed on to Sykes. "Let me throw a tourniquet around that leg til I can get a better look at it" he advised the Lt while slipping one up above the injury close to the groin. He grabbed up underneath Sykes right shoulder while Knutson got the left and they took off towards the intact and not on fire APC. "Hold the elevator door for us Priest.

Sykes saw the two men bending over him. "Thank you," he managed to groan. As he was dragged away, he clung to his flamethrower like grim death. He watched the rear in case something came from that way, although his vision was blurred with pain.

Grayham grappled with the alien that had grabbed hold of her. For a few seconds she held her own, but the hissing enemy was too powerful for her. Then the massive body and strength of Private Wang was added to the tussle, and the alien was sent toppling backward. As it fell backward, its tail lashed across both women. It slashed across the front of Grayham's legs, above the knees, leaving two bleeding gashes. It scratched harmlessly across Wang's armor.

As the alien fell back, Private Samantha Hall took her aimed shot, and the alien's banana-shaped head exploded with a spray of green gore. Wang, who was still moving forward, was splashed with a spatter of the blood. She soon realized that this creature's blood had highly acidic properties. Much of it landed on her chestplate, eating holes in the metal. But a few drops hit her square in the face, which began to smoke as the foreign blood ate holes in that too.

The APC rolled up and Priest opened the heavy sliding door.

Wang gave a loud hoot as she bowled the creature over, which gave way to an even louder groan as she was doused in the blood. With her professional background, she instantly recognized the smell, the taste, and (unfortunately) the effects as those of an extremely high molarity acid. She staggered back, fumbling with the straps on her armor, working through the pain in an attempt to escape the worst of the damage.

"Acid!" she managed to yelp as a warning to the others. "Help me!"

Perez watched the bout between the scorpion-creature and the two marines, wainting for an opportunity to shoot that thing. Finally, they managed to wrestle that thing off Grayham, but before he could trigger a burst shot, a single shot was heard and the creature's head exploded in a green mess. In a last attempt, the creature's tail slashed over the two marines, doing at least some damage to Grayham, who still lay on the ground. As he recognized the attack, he sprinted towards his two squadmembers.

But that was not the end of story, because some of the blood splashed on Wang and immediately her body armor began to melt and he didn't need Wang's explanation to recognize it as acid. As he reached Wang, he saw, that some of this shit hit her face, too. She tried to unstrap her body armor already, visibly in pain.

"Don't panic, i will help you"

He tried to comfort her and assisted in unstripping the body armor
