Quinn had just about finished sewing up Morse's stump when he heard the whine of the drone's engines rapidly growing louder.

Doppler effect, object approaching. the analytical part of his mind reported as the mining craft appeared, a long rifle slung underneath it and firing at their position. Snatching up his sidearm from Morse's chest, his mind continued. Drones are inherently fragile as too much weight would result in lost maneuverability, speed and expended fuel.

He aimed his M4A4 pistol and started firing, slow measured shots instead of rapid panic fire. He saw the thing come apart, and for a moment thought that Second Squad's firing had done the trick, until the buggy came into view with it's cannon spitting hyper-velocity rounds. A grin lit his face, only to be replaced by anger just as the vehicle was thrown into the air by another landmine. This operation was falling apart rapidly.

"But no battle plan survives first contact, yadda yadda." he muttered, ejecting the spent magazine from his pistol, replacing it and shoved it back into it's holster. He looked around, looking for a path out of the minefield. Morse was now stabilized, but had to be moved to a safer spot. He looked around the squad for a moment and made a decision.

"Williams, take Morse back into the trees and hunker down." he snapped, reaching around to his own back to bring his slung pulse rifle to bear. "Colson, Bell, on me!"

Sixtus moved carefully up to the buggy and looked at the men in and around it. Driver, dead. Girl... the former Lieutenant briefly put his fingers to Pvt. Billings' neck to check the pulse. ...also dead. Passenger, Private Dave Halbert.

"New guy, fall in." he said tersely. He tapped his Infrared Scope down from his helmet, peering out at the jungle and ground around them.

"Covering chief"
Walking five yards behind and on the right to Quinn. With his weapon up Bell scanned from 12 to 6 oclock on his side of the NCO's trajectory.

He was in no hurry to make it to the buggy and didnt really pay attention to it. He figured Quinn was already focused on it and on whichever casualties were there. So he walked carefully, making sure he didnt miss anything in their surroundings.

Samantha wasn't exactly 'happy' to see the enemy squad shredded by her squad and Dirk's; but she WAS thrilled that no more of the marines took hits from this group of enemies. Her relief was short lived as soon after, a DRONE of all things entered the picture and the next thing she knew, she was being blown off her feet....

As soon as she could, she blinked away the stars and did her best to ignore the ringing in her ears. She turned to look at her squad and was about to order Roberts to open up on the machine with his smartgun, but like the good marine he was, he was already doing that. She yelled out to Giosso to find some cover and he shifted her Rifle to her shoulder and took a deep breath and a long line-up/aim and opened up with a short burst....

Colson saw the buggy coming and then flinched as the landmine went off. Grimacing as he saw it roll, he'd gone through that himself and it cost him his front teeth.

Reaching down he checked for damage, something had hit his foot and he dreaded what he might find, fingering the gouged leather he sighed, that was a close one. Seeing someone move over by the buggy he was about to get up and check when Quinn spoke up.
"Williams, take Morse back into the trees and hunker down." he snapped, reaching around to his own back to bring his slung pulse rifle to bear. "Colson, Bell, on me!"
"Aye sah."

Colson slung his K52 kit along with the surgical kit and snatched up his SMG, pausing briefly to pat Morse on the shoulder, "Hang in there marine." before falling along side Quinn and keeping an eye on his surroundings, unconsciously tonguing his fake teeth.

After returning to the buggy, Dave was still in a bit of a daze as he tried to figure out what had happened. The drone hadn't fired at them, he didn't remember hearing artillery fire or an RPG. He looked over at the cratered area where the buggy had been lifted. Definitely explosive of some kind. ..landmine he finally reasoned. He could hear some one giving orders from reasonably close by. As Dave scanned the area around him he found a marine quickly approach his way and check for a pulse on Hugh and Billings.

“New guy fall in” the marine told him. Dave pulled the rifle close and returned “private Dave Halbert ready to move when you are.” As he pulled the rifle in close to his chest he could see plenty of scrapes and scratches on his forearms. He realized that his face stung and touched his left hand to his face pulling it back with a little blood. His face felt like someone had whipped him with a raspberry bramble a couple times. That's not so bad, he thought to himself, maybe I'll grab an aspirin out of my first aid kit if it keeps up.
