Here's a list with the Players and Characters and how they'll be organized in this Mission:

Command/Support Team (All NPCs):

I understand there's no room for newbies who join later...but I may come up with a way to include them if they do show up....

I didn't know that I had promoted you Quinn....I've just been using the Aliens movie and the Game book as a guide for ranks and it just goes from PVT to PFC to CPL; with no LCPL rank....so I just list you as a CPL.

Maybe E1 is just the 'recruit' rank when the marine is in boot-camp and possibly "A-School" (or equivalent)?

Most Recruits start out as an E-1 or Private, then if you make a squad leader in Boot you make at least Corporal. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for that Pale Rider; but I'm well familiar with how the current US/Western (that includes Austrailia Obi! ) militaries do it; and while others are welcome to see things differently; I just don't want to fall into the trap of using current systems and ways of thought in a game set in a military branch that doesn't exist today and is set well over a century in the future.

I've seen this happen WAY too often in too many RPGs; and I think sometimes people forget to look at the Source material; in this case; the movie....if you watch closely and look at the Script and Credits and what not; I think the USCM of 2179 has much more in common with the US Army of the Vietnam era than the Marines of ANY era....also; there are several PFCs (Hudson, Vazquez) and several Corporals (Hicks, Ferro, Dietrich); but no LCPLs....could be an oversight or could be the squad just didn't have any; but considering that a "Squad" is just 4 people (present day Fireteam); and that plenty of the members of the units seem to be in the E1-E3 rank range at ages well into thier 20s; I think many things have changed in comparison to modern day western militaries.....but this is just my take!

So my take on the rank system of the world in Aliens would be: (for enlisted)

E1: Recruit (RCT)
E2: Private (PVT)
E3: Private First Class (PFC)
E4: Corporal (CPL)
E5: Sergeant (SGT)
E6: Staff Sergeant (SSGT)
E7: Gunnery Sergeant (GY SGT)
E8: First Sergeant (1st SGT)
E9: Sergeant Major (SGT MAJ)

Again, just my take...but it's what I'm working with; hopefully this is cool with people.

Sorry, I saw the "Specialist" and that's a rank nowadays in the U.S. Army, equivalent to a Sergeant. Just a simple "Medic" will do, thanks. Avoids confusion.

Sorry for the confusion...that was just the position in the squad;

I envisoned a 4 man squad as consisting of a Leader, a Gunner, A Rifleman and a Specialist....depending on the squad; the specialist would be a Corpsman, a Comm/Tech, a Marksman, etc.

I was about to say 'DON'T FORGET THE MEDIC!'

Then I realised what the other word for Corpsman was.

Yeah, as a Navy brat I grew up with Navy and Marines and there were no 'medics'; they're called 'Corpsman'....'medics' are for the Army!

Also, they're aren't any 'soldiers'; they're always 'Marines'....soldiers are in the Army!

Just how I was raised and how I always refer to them!

You could always just stick with 'Scablifter' for the medics.

Note to self: let Obi die a horrible, horrible death.

Scablifter is purely used as a term of endearment and my great respect that medics command. (You have to be nice to them, they have a nasty habit of sticking needles into the bone )
