It kinda does.

I'd like to bring back the "Easy Eights", especially since we got a lot of veterans returning to the board.

I didn't realise the name of a spider could be racist. Change it to Razorback then.

Redback, a snide cross between redskins, native americans, and wetbacks, hispanics. :P

And for reference I wasn't saying that it was, or it was even anyone's intention to be. I'm just saying it sounded racy.

Okay....so, I've got several votes for the "Easy Eights"...

This won't have any real meaning to anyone in the game, cannon-wise; so maybe somebody could come up with a reason for why the name is brought up?

One thought occured to me....I don't know if it's still the case; but I know in WW2; the Army classified soldiers that went seriously insane from combat exposure "Section 8s"....maybe "Easy Eights"; is a USCM term for those who go nuts to get "Easy" duty at the Psych ward? (I don't know, just spitballin' here! :) )

Maybe the unit demanded that they keep their old name when they were moved into strike team status? Something to do with honouring the blokes who they lost or something nice like that.

Easy is meant to be ironic "we get all the easy jobs" (when we dont)

and eights is because they've ran through 7 strike teams so far trying to combat xenos...and now it's our term...

Easy Eights was used with the fire squads designated call names were Pool (Billiards) Terms

For Instance:

Command Unit: Cueballs
Fire Team One: Break Shots
Fire Team Two: Scratch Shots

Anything on that level would work in that respect. However, I do like the idea of the Strike Team being Mentally unstable or perhaps they all drew the Strike Team status due to military crimes. After All Apachetears, character is short a finger due to dipping it in Xeno-Blood and James cutting it off with his Tomahawk. LOL, working on some Fan Fiction with Mr. Screaming Eagle. Hope to be able to post it next time I get on. Or at least a chapter.

Easy is a bit of a relative term I think, since I still don't think we've completely all of a missions objectives.... ever, since I've been here.

Well, one thing to keep in mind is that for the current group of players, "cannon" only goes back to Gothic Serpent.

Oh well; any number of reasons could be used for the name "Easy Eights"; but it seems like we've got enough people behind it so....

HEREBY THE OFFICAL NAME OF THE STRIKE TEAM IS "THE EASY EIGHTS".
