M1T9 - Eyes on

2179 AD, 1st November
Location: Sol system, Earth, atlantic ocean, ocean floor.
Mission timer: 00.37.34

The Marines divided into their respective squads, enveloping the base on either side with command in the center. The Marines slowly got into position as the seconds ticked by. Still no contact and all that the marines could hear were their own heartbeats throbbing in their inner ears. A trickle of sweat itched its way over their faces every now and then - Despite the surrounding water only being a few degrees over zero and the heating system barely holding cold at bay.

The marines came closer to the base, they could see the four "tubes" or whatever they were connected in a square - each short end of the tubes connecting with the next. The base was elevated a few feet over the ocean floor with metal girders. One of the girders had collapsed it seemed and the base was tilted a few degrees to one corner.

Squad 1 edged closer to the jagged ridge that surround the base. Kurosaki carefully maneuvered in between two black pillars of basalt, careful not to crash into something and getting caught. He inched up over the ridge, slowly, slowly. More and more of the base could be seen as he rose.

Suddenly he felt the hairs on his neck rise. He turned his head slowly to the right and to his horror he saw a large bulky diving suit - Similar to his own, but painted yellow and a Weyland-Yutani logotype on the shoulder pad. The corporate soldier hadn't seen him yet - Still he was just a few yards away also hovering with lights out looking out into the pitch black ocean water.

Positions:
Command south side of base behind Squad 1
Squad 1 south side of base
Squad 2 east side of base
Squad 3 west side of base

OOC: Will draw a map to clarify if need be.

((If you could draw a basic map of what the layout of the base is, along with the positions of any corporates we spot would help immensely. Thanks!))

Quinn heard Kurosaki's gasp over the radio, and hissed a cease movement to his squad and they all stopped.

"Sergeant, what's up?" he asked calmly, but Kurosaki could tell from the way he almost snapped the words that he was a little on edge. Then again, so was everyone.

Keeping his eyes peeled to his scanner Gordon constantly watches the lines on the screen ready to give a holler at the first sign of an'ything out of the ordinary.

He doesn't even really take much notice of how his squad is deployed, just follows the man in front of him until they reach position.

"No contacts so far Corporal O'Brien."

"Understood, keep up the good work Lionmane." Obi responded as he heard Lionmanes' report. Come on you fuckers where are you? Obi thought grimly as Two Section moved using the rock formations as cover as they closed in on the East side of the station, with each step bringing them closer to inevitable confrontation.

Jacob saw Kurosaki freeze, and instinctively did so himself, these marines wouldn't be doing that for a reason...

not wanting to make a sound, he whispered into his com

"do we have contact?"

wishing again and again that he was not in this damn diving suit, he waited for a sitrep before making any drastic action!

((I think Kuro is on vacation somewhere, which is why he hasn't been posting. I'll assume that he has communicated.))

Sixtus saw Kurosaki make the hand signs for the corporate, and Sixtus realized how close they were.

"Contact, two meters. Hostile... hasn't noticed us yet. Sentry. Likely to be more of them. Permission to neutralize?" Quinn said quietly over the comms net, directing the last towards the command squad.

As per their orders, Morse had gone with third squad to their designated region of coverage. He could hear the chatter of the com, but didn't bother saying anything himself. He hadn't seen anything, but there wasn't much to see. As he could walk backwards in the suit, he had decided to sideways, to ensure he had coverage of both the back and front. No one had fallen down, and he'd been surprised he that he hadn't himself. But they kept trudging along waiting for what was to happen, and he did the same.

patch looked down at his motion scanner again it still read clear. "what the hell, why aren't they showing on scan, can they have our freind\foe id's ??" patch questioned over the coms. "or is he just not moving?" patch asked as a slightly les paranoid after thought.

"Command, Squad One. He's not moving, standing very still. Kuro... Sergeant Kurosaki is signing something... corporate. I say again, corporate soldier. Wouldn't be surprised if they had access to mess around with our IFF systems, over."

Quinn meanwhile was thinking quickly of who in his squad would be best to take the shot if need be. Himself and Kurosaki weren't the best shots in the squad, which left the rifleman, the flame trooper and the smartgunner. Dredging up his memories on the range, Quinn seemed to remember that Seth Lippa was the better shot in the squad.

"Lippa, be ready to neutralize the sentry on command." Sixtus said quietly over the comms.

Kurosaki instinctively froze when he saw the soldier. Then he slowly retreated back to his squad, making hand motions as he went. He stopped near Quinn and Lippa and motioned for Lippa ( the best shot in the squad) to attempt to snipe the single sentry.

OOC: Sorry guys, just got back from Hawaii. Will continue posting again!

Simovic moved up to the habitat scanning the strange structure ahead, whatever must have caused the damage must have been pretty destuctive as the girders were made of extremely strong alloys. Just as he was contemplating this sounds of a possible contact started coming though the comms.

This put the platoon in a difficult position as their orders dicatated that they were not initiate hostilities with corporate forces, unless fired on first.

Quinn wrote:
"Lippa, be ready to neutralize the sentry on command." Sixtus said quietly over the comms.

Simovic activated the platoon comms channel.

"Thats a negative, I want you to disregard that order, we arn't to fire upon the corporate forces unless we receive fire from them first. Squad 1 fall back to cover and observe the contact for now, I'll get confirmation from Lt. Moore of how he wants us to proceed".

<Tag Squad 1>

"The rest of the platoon continue your sweep, we need to locate the entrances to this place".

<Tag Platoon>

Simovic then clicked his comms to the command sub.

"Lt. Moore, Squad 1 has encountered a corporate soldier they are holding back on engaging please advise as to what you want us to do".

"Aye aye. Lippa, stand down. We're on observation for now." Quinn didn't feel he'd been rubbed the wrong way, and just followed orders on this one. He settled into the silt to observe the corporate, his rifle only needing to snap up and aim to take out the sentry.

This wasn't his first dance with corporate soldiers, not since he and the platoon had encountered them mixed in with rebels on a desert planet not too long ago. And that contact wasn't exactly friendly either.

"Hey Kuro, when will the corporates stop poking their noses into whatever they can't handle?" he asked suddenly of his squad sergeant.

Hearing Pitt's order, Sam acknowledge with a brief; "Aye, aye", and continued in her assigned zone, sweeping the murky ocean with her Pulse Rifle out in front of her.

Great....f-ing Corporates are here...this mission just keeps getting better and better, Hall thought bitterly to herself.

Listening to the comm chatter between the marines Obi shook his head in disgust. Fucking mercenarys, as if we don't have enough on our plate.

"May be they are just down here for some deep sea fishing" Obi muttered sarcastically over the comm.

Staying at the rear of Two Sections he moved low and slow keeping a low profile as possible and staying under the cover of the rock formations. Quickly moving up the side he poked his helmet over the top and saw the Facility looming out of the murky depths. Ducking back down under cover he spoke softly into his comm.

"This is Two section, we are almost at the Facility, so far nil contacts, over"
