Resigning

I am considering resigning as the GM.. The game needs something and I am at a loss as to what it needs. I do not want to see the site for but at this point it seems to be doing so with me being at the helm.. So I would like to go back to being a simple player.

Thanks for letting me try my hand again.

Pale....
As a "simple player" , not that I would call your game play simple, you are great. I like your righting and your style. I for one would welcome your return as a player. However, I would not want to accept your resignation as a GM. I feel that the site's slow pace is as much the players fault, if not more, than anyone's.. Myself not only included but singled out as not posting regularly.

I would ask you to reconsider, but you do what you need to do.. As always, I have your back.

Again, I simply do not want to see the site die.

I will fight to keep it as well. I am not sure what will help the site but we should try everything in the playbook before we give up. I have said before that I will be the GM if needed. It isn't the role I want to play but I think I would be good at it.

Please tell me if you think that is a good idea or a bad idea. My feelings will not be hurt, I just want to help the site.

I will ask a third time for people to provide some kind of contact information as a back up in case they stop posting or if the site went down unexpectedly.

No need to resign as GM Pale Rider, things are really slow but I don't think it's anything you are doing. The problem is probably a lack of time investment from the players. I have nowhere near the time I had before to post.

I honestly don't have any ideas or suggestions for improvement though. :(

I'm all for Hicks to have a go as co-GM! It'll take some of the stress off Pale Rider an maybe keep things fresh for him as well.

One thing can I ask though. Can you guys make a spoiler in the first post of every new game thread which contains all the current squad members and how they are arranged in the platoon and at squad level?

I keep forgetting who is in my squad and what their names are and what rank they are as well. My memory is terrible an I need all the help I can get. Plus a map showing where the squads are would be mighty fine as well.

We may need a roll call as well just to see who's keeping an eye on the game. I only remembered to post because I saw an old email from two weeks ago. Email prompts after every GM post could be useful s well.

I would also recommend some form of chat app be it hang outs, Kakao, etc. That way the alert is instant. But I have asked about that for over a yew.

Yeah. An integrated chat box (like at the bottom of this forum) would have the added benefit of bringing people to the site to use it (or be persistent at the bottom when people log in)

I've also seen forum where the first post is persistant (top of every page) which might help with Pants' issue.

We used to have a chat thing on the site, I'm not sure why Nick removed it. Maybe send him a post asking what happened to it.

I like the idea of the persistent first post.

Would it help if I post an updating roster in the campaign section but not in each turn?

Hey there; sorry for my long break from the site.....some RL stuff has been taking up a lot of my on-line and 'real world' gaming time as well.

Pale: I think you run a great game and would definitely love to see you stick around in the role; but I understand if you don't want to do it anymore as well.

WHOEVER is the new GM (I'd love to try it again, but I really don't have the time) one thing I'd suggest is to keep missions relatively short/simple/action-packed and maybe have a 3 day or once a week time when you make a post to advance the story....if people haven't posted; take the best action you think they'd make or they don't get an action.....keep the story moving. This is something I've found in other PBP games I've run....trying to run detective-style or character interaction heavy games tend to slow to a crawl in my experience.....even the action-filled ones (like this one) sometimes slow down a lot. (Not calling anyone out; look at my absence....I'm DEFINITELY not trying to throw stones here :) ).

Anyway, that's just my two cents!

It seems that the consensus is that no one person is at fauly. I am thinking that you are correct Max in that we have evolved (devolvrd)to more of a story that is GM driven with a little input from the masses. I was truly hoping we could have returned to the character driven posts from the early days. So with that said we will be doing a little experimenting in the forthcoming turns.

I agree with max and Pale. I wish it could be like the old days but that will be tough to do with all new players. Action also seems to be the only thing we respond to, although I think tactics should play a large part and I'm not big on the detective stuff either.

Me and Pale discussed making me into the LT, probably as a new character, just to keep things moving. I think that's a good idea as I have no life and also Pale has my number so I can't disappear. (I wish people would leave their contact info somewhere but I've beaten that horse to death)

Also nobody seems to know where they are. Everyone was in the hangar except first squad who traveled to Operations. Then two people from the hangar posted that they were in operations so I posted that everyone went to operations and then Max posted that she was in the hangar so now I'm confused what to do. A map I guess

Sorry, I made the assumption that I was where Giosso was seeing as how he was my squad-mate. I did not intend to go against the facts of the mission; my apologies!
