Sentry Guns question....and trees!

Post by maxvale76 » Thu Jan 29, 2015 3:32 pm

I just wanted to know the answer to Roberts' question about 1st setting up additional Sentry guns; are there any?

Also; Sal just asked about going up a tree and I was thinking about the same thing; what's the canopy look like.....is it so thick that going up a tree doesn't serve much purpose; or is more like the canopy is up high and getting into a lower branch actually serves a purpose?

Thanks!

- M4A4 .45 ACP (2 clips)
- 8 Granades

The tech manual I don't believe states what comes with the platoon in terms of that equipment. However, our guiding 'bible' that is the film notes that they 'salvaged' the four robo sentries. So we can assume that they may have a standard of 4 (or as many as we can say we need within reason) - The dropship has a lot of cargo space so it wouldn't be difficult to hold them. They're essentially just boxes.

- Of course these aren't a save all.... 500 rounds only goes so far.... Morse carries more rounds then both sentry guns combined. (HENCE I'm gonna have them switched to semi-automatic)

Honestly; I don't really want to have the Sentry Guns; I'd rather Sam's squad be mobile and ready for quick response/moves to anywhere needed; but I see nothing wrong with setting up Sentry Guns at a perpendicular junction to have 2 sides of a killbox set up and then moving the squad to a diagonal position in between them; but I wanted to get the word from 'on high' about equipment availability and a bit more about the terrain situation first.

No extra sentry guns, unless really wanted.
Area is just like South Carolina: forests, hills, and mountains. Think Piedmont.

Well I've been reading about sentry guns and they automatically decide how many rounds it takes to eliminate a target on semi-auto. So if they see a person they fire like 4 rounds to destroy them and if they see a car maybe they fire 50 rounds to destroy it. Also, they can be set to rotate 360 degrees if wanted, but are usually for clearing hallways and stuff. They also will not shoot a marine because marines have IFF transponders implanted that show them as friendly. The enemies might have those, honestly, which is why you can do manual override in which it requests permission for each kill and the operator has to give permission.

Okay; that's cool with me...no sentry guns, I don't have to worry about it. :)

As for the trees.....okay, I looked at some pictures on-line and I saw both situations....one where being in a tree would be of benefit and where it wouldn't.....so what's the situation here? Call it as we will?

I'll run with that and order Booth up a tree.....if that's not cool; let me know. Thanks!

And if you have to abandon them the Secessionists gain a weapon. Up in the trees is fine. Muahahahaha!!!

That means if the sentries run out of ammo, we blow them to kingdom come if possible. Oh man I'm excited for some action 8) It's been far too long.

....as long as that action means no make-shift napalm bombs; xeno-morphs or Morse shooting AT us; I'm all in favor of it! :)

And so far you are the only one to have pulled of that mad manoeuvre, everyone else just... well sucks. XD

Just think what you could achieve if you used grenades! :o

I had an incinerator and wanted area denial to cover our retreat. Fire works very well for that.

I've watched those a few times... generally speaking they are always successful.... but damage to us tends to come with it.
