2nd Turn

Post by Pale Rider » Thu Oct 02, 2014 12:52 am

Okay ya bunch of Jarheads listen up!
New Turn will be posted around Saturday. Please send me a pm with a count of what you brought onto the APC and number of trips. I also will need a load out of what you are currently carrying. I will then determine how much stuff actually made it on board.

Sam's just carrying what she has on her; plus any water, food and ammo she can store in her rucksack......if she had the time to make multiple trips then she will have made multiple trips doing this.

Can't exactly say this was unexpected.

May I recommend asking for a minute to consult with your counsel?

Wow.

I think this entire trial stinks. The fact that there even is a trial, I mean. I can see someone taking Quinn aside for a debriefing, so that a proper report of the events as they happened could be made and sent to those who need it.

But a trial? A tribunal? A court martial?

Really?

What the hell was on the Snakefighter that was so valuable that they'd put Quinn on trial for its destruction? Is mil-tech that precious that they wouldn't have minded if all the personnel died as long as the Snakefighter remained intact?

If it's not the hardware that's the valuable commodity, what about the software? Programs and data? Telemetry? Is that why they're going to hang Quinn?

And might I remind the tribunal that there were two civilians aboard, at least one of whom might represent significant value in terms of research and knowledge. With that person dead or in hostile hands, who knows what secrets might have been acquired and given over to non-proprietary parties. When millions of dollars of research and intellectual property are at stake, mega corps tend to play hard ball. But as Oksana and Dmitri are still *alive*, the trial can't be for them dying in the explosion, right?

So ... Is that the real story, here?

Was it the human element that was meant to be destroyed, instead of the ship carrying it? Were the Marines or the civilians the true target of the pirates--the pirates being the hired guns, but not the people who would benefit from the trigger being pulled? If the pirates are killers for hire, who hired them and why?

And as the plan failed, thanks to the Marine's action, is this now a great big CYA to hide the fact that someone called a contract hit on the Marines/Snakefighter? And why would the military be involved in punishing the survivors?

Are some of the top brass involved in this proceeding in bed with the mega-corp element who wanted the people aboard the Snakefighter dead? Or perhaps the goal was to transport something covertly aboard the Snakefighter, and now it's impossible because the ship was destroyed?

Is that what's going on here? Or is my tin foil hat too tight?
