Site update

For Your information I am lookin into making the forum a little more attractive. I will aim for a forum only solution most likely and try to use Adobe PDF as the medium for character sheets - this is just early in planning and I have just started the research of how to actually pull this through.
The Forum update comes today, so if there is teething problems You know why before I get things running smoothly.
Cheers.

I am working on a new theme - Don't worry it will look considerably different once I am done...

New forum skin installed. Still some work to be done though. I will keep updating this thread as I go along.
There is still some quirks with the new forum, for example I have to approve all posts made by players. Don't know why yet...
Looking into this.

Ok I fixed the ranks, You now have "military" style ranks pending on much You have posted - Staff Sergeant is currently the highest attainable rank. Will add more if there is interest...
Thanks Raider65!
Also fixed more "approve message" bugs - You should (knock on wood) be able to post everywhere now. IF not let me know here...

Thanks, quite a lot of work went into it.
For Your information we have now changed back to the PHPBB software instead of the Simple Machines Forum. The latter not being bad in any respect but PHPBB has better looks and a few "under the hood" functions I missed from the old forum which also ran PHPBB - But version 2.0 rather than 3.0 which we have now.
Thanks for Your patience.

Looks nice Nick good job. I was just wondering is there a way that you can have the rank based on our in game ranks, rather than our post count?

Yeah I could do that, although it would have to be entered manually for each player and updated manually.

Hehe nice.
I am currently beating my head on a new character submit system...not going too well.
Adobe PDF was a dead end as i couldn't get it to work correctly - Gave up after six hours.
Looking into either an online editing variant where players can edit their own characters or an old school txt file application.

I like Dugan's idea of making the rank our ingame rank instead of being based on post count. How about making the rank insignias as the avatars instead? Larger and gives a more 'uniformed' look.

Because unless you've been with us a while and know people's characters, you wouldn't be able to tell gender or looks right away. And people are fairly attached to their avis anyway. Me included.
Besides, for the rank we already have our charries actual rank tabs, so I think that's fine for now. And it's also in our sigs, along with other important info on our character.
Speaking of which, I'm not a sergeant. Unless there's a promotion that I didn't know about. And where'd our sigs go?
