2179 AD, 6th October
Location: Sol system, Earth, United Americas, New York
Mission timer: 00:38:19

Section 1 moved north at a slightly quicker pace now, sweeping over the walls, floor and ceiling of the tunnel. When they reached an intersection they quickly peaked around it first before entering for a second look over the sights all according to US Colonial Marine search doctrine. The contact had stopped now, hiding just beyond the next corner as the Marines of section 1 approached. This was the end of the tunnel and a T-junction lead towards the east and west. The contact was just around the corner of the eastern junction (C2:6). Simovic pointed at Sergeant Kurosaki with two fingers, his own eyes and then towards the junction. Kurosaki turned around and pointed at the nearest Marine which happened to be Private Brown to follow him. Kurosaki and Brown closed in on the junction, step by step. The murky water swirled around their legging armor. The edge slowly came closer. The concrete connected with an ancient and deteroirated brick wall here. The two Marines piled up and then quickly peaked around the corner...

Support squad moved slowly up in the main pipe. The water got significantly deeper pretty quick and the Marines had to retort to the side walkways to avoid having the murky, and unpleasant, sewage up to their chins. They split so half the squad walked on either side of the tunnel. Slowly they inched their way north on the slippery walkways.

Kurosaki and Brown rounded the corner and immidiately saw a large white blob through his IR sight. Brown was just about to fire when Kurosaki slapped his rifle to the side "Hold it". Kurosaki flicked on his shoulder light while folding his IR sight up into the helmet again. The sharp white, almost clinical, light pierced their eyes for a few seconds. In front of them a ghastly white female sat, half-way leaning half way lying down in the pipe. The sewage reached to half her upper body. She looked haunted, very skinny and extremely pale. Her face was dominated by a straight, almost sharp, nose. Her hair was dark, perhaps brown, and fell to her shoulders. The hair was wet and clotted into large black clumps that clung to her face as if glued. The woman, who were around her late twenties had cuts and bruises all over her face that were in starkt contrast to her milk white skin. Her eyes, grey-blue in color, were watery, red and very tired. She looked up at the marines beggingly. "Shoot me...please" she said with a raspy voice. "...shoot....me" she raised her hand beggingly towards Brown.

Meanwhile section 2 were working their way northward through the eastern piping. Sergeant Pitt walked point together with Serfeant Isichawa who held the motion tracker. They could easily read both section 1 and the support section to their west. Suddenly Isichawa halted, slowly moving the tracker in an arc in front of him. "What?" Pitt hissed. "I'm getting a strange reading here..." Isichawa showed the tracker for Pitt. At first he didn't see anything but then something flickered on the tracker display. "What the hell..." one second its there the next it's gone. "Yeah wierd...could be interference" Isichawa filled in. The contact flickered again, this clearly visible time for a few seconds. The contact moved north in the main pipe before it disappeared - Just behind support squad. "Thats a clear contact so either it is one of our own guys or it is...moving under the surface!" Isichawa gasped.

"all squads, this is command, we have a live human here but showed up really oddly in ir, check targets with lights before engaging if possible, out" patch relayed to all squads.

"Quinn we got a survivor here, in need of medical assistance!" patch said to Quinn  before assuming a defensive position keeping his eye on the motion tracker aswell as covering the west approach to there position.

Sixtus was running when Patch called out about the casualty. It wasn't a Marine, but a civilian. As he landed, he checked quickly to make sure his helmet camera was still on.

"Don't worry ma'am, we'll have you fixed up in no time." he said in a soothing voice that no one had known existed. Pulling the stretcher, he directed Jean to help him get the woman onto the stretcher. Pulling out a blanket that looked like it was made from aluminum foil, he wrapped it around the woman as best he could. "This'll warm you up straight enough."

He plugged the diagnostic reader into it's power supply and attached the leads to his patient. He set it on the foot of the stretcher so that it would do the work while he carefully looked over the woman. "Why're you down here?" he asked.

Sgt. Kuosaki and Pvt. Brown had called the rest of Section 1 forward and Simovic had starred horrified at the woman who was begging them to end her life. He understood as she obviously did that one of the creatures had more than likely taken host in her. He pulled Quinn to one side, so they were out of ear shot from her.

"Quinn we need to try and sedate her and the creature, if she's carrying one. Its her only chance of suvivial, as hopefully it'll buy us enough time to get her to a hospital, where they can remove it".

Simovic clicked his comms.

"Support squad I need you to come here and escort a female we've picked up back to the APC's"

He then organised the rest of Section 1 into a defensive formation as they waited on Quinn to do his job and for the Support Squad to come and collect the female.

Then Isichawa said what had been in the back of Dirks mind. Under water, something is under the water. Dirk spat his cigarett into the watar.

Support squad, This is Pitt. We read a contact behind your position. Say again we read a contact behind you. Be advised, we think it's moving under the water." Dirk said over the comm

"roger that, targets to the rear of our position possibly submerged" replied patch. "you hear that sarge?" patch questioned.
"you want me to report the survivor and the new contact to the Lt?"

patch's heart rate had risen a little, not just from the new development but he was fairly certain he had just heard jean offer to take all her clothes off, now that would be a pleasant sight he was sure. while he continued scanning and watching the waters surface for any signs of anything underneath, he pondered whether jean was fully functional she was certainly more attractive than most, he wondered whether she had all the requisite programing, she had certainly hinted at that kind of knowledge with the banter earlier in the day....his mind was just begining to wonder to all sorts of possible situations when there was a splash from up the tunnel....he snapped up his rifle to the firing position his shoulder lamp swinging across the surface of the water, it highlighted movement, "shit , contact west," patch snapped, his light finally settled on the source of the noise, "...........err never mind just a rat." he said embarrassed at his over reaction because he hadn't been concentrating properly.

LCpl Stormhurst listened to all the radio chatter as he got away from the water as much as he could. Putting his back to the wall, he scanned the surface with his helmet's IR monocle and mark 1 eyeball.

Morse was doing drag so they should be alright, with his new fangled support weapon. He should be able to put down a wall of lead as they called it in the old days.

He'd like to throw some grenades in the water ways, ahead and behind the team drive the thing from the water maybe by concussion. But the walls and concrete looked older here and might not withstand the explosions from M40/M38 grenades. But stun grenades might work and not bring down the walls?

"Morse you got any type of Stun or Flash type grenades"?

He resumed his scanning of the water and his surroundings.

OCC: Nick/Dugan do we have any concussive type grenades in our grenade loadout?

Now that the doctor had a more viable solution for concealing her body and warming her up at the same time utilizing a heat blanket, Jean didn't mention her clothes. A blanket was good enough, especially since wet clothes, even when wringed out, would hinder the blankets process of eventually evaporating the water from the poor womans skin.

"...........err never mind just a rat." Said patch. Jean's eyes moved forward with her thin jaw line as she pointed her head in Patch's general direction to see his reaction to her. She wasn't too sure but her programming was directing her to pay more attention to patch but she was missing paramaters for that programming to understand why.

It must have been something that came with her software box but not yet installed, and that box was in her barracks. She could sense that Patch was slightly distracted. She blinked at him a moment and gave him an interesting look before looking back to the girl. She held her hand under the blanket while Quinn talked with Simmovic, quietly.

Jean brushed the pale skinned woman's hair and smiled at her.

"When you feel up to it, you can tell me what it was that scared you so badly," she whispered. Jean shifted her body so she was closer the scared one and she smiled. "These marines are highly trained, you won't have to worry anymore." Jean kept consoling her to keep the young woman's mind off of whatever it was that the doc and Quinn were talking about.

Kurosaki and Brown had found the woman, and she was in pitiful condition. Kurosaki lowered his weapon, but it was still a 'hot' weapon. He heard bits and pieces of Quinn's and Dugan's conversation. If a thing was inside her, then... She was mostly likely a goner. Her begs for her own death slightly disturbed Kurosaki. If the thing was causing that much pain, then...

Kurosaki waved Lippa and Colwell over and whispered, making sure that Jean couldn't hear.

"Lippa, keep your incinerator at the ready. If the thing somehow comes out, then I want you, Lippa to incinerate the poor girl. She'll be dead soon anyway. Colwell, guard the rear of the column."

Jean couldn't hear what they were talking about. She still had water in her audio processors, or in other words, ears -- so, she wasn't able to hear what she would normally be able to hear. She could certainly pick up on body postures, however. Any human could do the same thing with decent enough psychological training. There were a few barrels pointed in their general direction, and it wasn't by accident. She wasn't going to let them know she realized this.

"If you wish," she yelled just loud enough to break their conversation, "I can get her topside faster than squad two. Besides, I'm not a combatant. This looks like the perfect job for me at the moment. She doesn't desirve to be in harms way." Jean unbuckled her holster and gun from her blue jumpsuit and kicked her shoes off.

She wasn't sure what they were conversing about but she could tell they were concerned. She hoped that by swapping the victim of this tragedy with her clothes in an effort to get her topside quickly. She wondered why eveyone was so hostile. She had no idea. She kept herself between the guns and the girl on the stretcher as she twisted the suit as tightly as she could before before unwraveling it, pushing her legs into it and getting her ready to move.

It didn't bother Jean but it concerned her that a human being would feel uncomfortable to wade around in nasty water, and be humiliated once she made it to the APC that would take her topside. Jean was a well programmed computer so she didn't need to worry about her looks, or what hid them. At least, at the moment, she had no programming to concern herself with anything but to serve human beings.

She was also sure, programming wise, that there were some people dissappointed that she found a pair of cryosleep approved underware that consisted of a dark black belly-cut t-shirt, and a pair of USCM bikini undies to hide the anatomically correct parts of her toned synthetic frame. This left room to provide both the victim, and herself with equal moral dignity.

Jean simply wasn't going to let a poor civilian be paraded in the nude. The ethical programming centers of her mind wouldn't allow it.

"Sir," Jean pleaded while re-strapping the holster to her hips, "I'll do anything I can to keep her alive." She meant it. "I know that i need to do it quickly, and to keep her away from the rest of you. She may have a chance this way."

Jean knew she could do it. The only thing she had to worry about, in her mind, was that carrying extra weight on her shoulders would require a calcial-synthetic replacement since an androids ripped muscles would never heal without technical attention after the mission. Her body had the endurance to handle nearly anything, but she wasn't as strong as a human being by a long shot. She helped the girl with her jump suit while waiting for her commanding officers reply.

holy shit, what the hell was that look about...patch thought to himself as he was still recovering from his slight jumpiness with rats. is she flirting with me? teasing? interested?
"These marines are highly trained, you won't have to worry anymore."
jeans words about marines helped patch to concentrate on the job at hand, scanning for movement and watching the water.
"I can get her topside faster than squad two. Besides, I'm not a combatant. This looks like the perfect job for me at the moment. She doesn't deserve to be in harms way."
jeans word rang alarm bells in patches head, she couldn't leave, patch turned to say something and finding the young android preparing to remove her jumpsuit patch spoke up quickly
" um sarge...jean may well be the best option to get this young lady the hell out of here, but ..um....well...she has the only map!" patch was fairly good at general navigation..but down here with every corridor and rd looking alike, he reckoned it would take him 5mins tops to get lost.

Sam heard the order for the Support Squad to move up to where they had found the poor woman and spoke into her comm; "This is Hall; Support Squad moving up." With that she nodded at LCPL Sheppard to take the point with his incinerator as she walked backwards with her Pulse Rifle at the ready-position.

A few moments later, fear flashed through her yet again as the report came in that there was an unknown contact behind her and Sheppard and probably under the water.

Backing up fast until she was parallel with Sheppard, she kept her M41 on a swivel and scanned the entire tunnel behind them from the surface to the roof with both her own eyes and with a flipped down IR sensor.

Kurosaki glanced at Jean when she yelled. Damn, this android can read body language, Kurosaki thought, scratching at some stubble. Jean hadn't faced those things; she had no idea how fast those things spread.

"Look Jean, her safety is one of the my top priorities at this moment. But we have to treat anybody we find down here as contaiminated. We just can't risk it." Kurosaki said, looking straight at Jean. His shoulder lamp was still on, and was generally pointed in Jean's direction, more or less. His helmet was slightly crooked, but wearing the damn thing straight was uncomfortable.

Kurosaki shook his head. "I know that you've had training in mostly likely ethical procedures. I would agree with you, but if she pops one, then we need to exterminate it. Keep your distance."

Kurosaki checked his ammo counter. It was at 93 rounds. He was getting more money than he had thought he would as an army grunt, but still, the money was going towards his family, struggling in the rice fields of Nagasaki. Kurosaki sighed before scanning the waters and his surroundings.
