Alpha Strike Casualties

Post by Corporal Hicks » Wed Jan 28, 2015 5:29 am

I just noticed something funny. (I'm cataloging rosters for my own use.) On Alpha Strike, if you include the burns from the flame grenade, there were 4 dead and 10 wounded. That means the only person who got out unhurt was Mark Giosso, and that's including the civilian! Anyway, interesting trivia. ;)

I too noticed the burns, but I chose to avoid them, since the injuries didn't seem severe enough to count as casualties. - Yes I know that having characters with severe broken limbs is a casualty, but I realized that the USCM is actually a relatively small force by comparison to the modern military. That said the books and expanded material seem to suggest that when Marines go on missions, its not like it is today where the incidents of death and severe injury aren't as high. Its like every mission results in the death of about half (or more) of the Marines, showing off just how high risk the job is. - So I took a bit of 'artistic freedom' shall we say and assumed that since they generally get really messed up each mission the Corps probably doesn't list the casualties is the same way we do today.

Yeah, I wasn't criticizing your method. The burns were pretty minor on everyone except Boothe and Hall. Dirk got the acid spray too, although that was pretty minor as well.
