AHAHAHAHAHA!

The seven year old boy who always wanted to be an awesome Colonial Space Marine has finally seen his dream come to fruition!
I just received my second hand set of plastic Armor. Coupled with my jungle boots, Multicam (screen accurate is a bit tough to get and the only reproer has had to give up his business for life events), and my motion detector I pretty much have a basic functional costume.
Just need to convert my Tokyo-Marui Thompson and I'll be in business. But that part can't be done since I live in the barracks. Airsoft/toy/model/real guns are a big no-no.
Hopefully pictures this weekend. Later I need to repaint it and give it a smattering of my own personal graffiti (the previous owner's is still there.)
I'm so darn happy!

NIce , man. Happy for you.

I'd love an outfit, but sadly all my excess cash goes to funding my (now voracious) video game addiction.
you have to post some pics soon.

Hey mate,
That sounds fantastic, where abouts did you acquire this? If you could put me in touch with a few contacts it would be awesome.
Cheers

I'm a member of
The Aliens Legacy, a forum for Aliens costumers and such. I bought it off a member who had to let a bit of his collection go. Same for my motion detector.
But the armor itself was originally made by
SpatCave. Its not cheap by any means it used to be about $500 for a full armor set with steel helmet, but he had to raise prices ($650) he also does a lot of other resin/plastic molds of other Aliens props. Its a pretty good set and Spat communicated with Terry English to get pointers on the design and I think it was him or another armor maker that pointed out some deficiencies in Terry's design that Terry has actually implemented into sets he does. Oh yeah if $650 is a bit much, save up around $2,000 or something in that area and get a set of armor (in aluminum) made by Terry English himself. He can do a vanilla set or paint it to replicate any of the Marines from Aliens (Hudson and Hicks being the two most popular of course!)
Pictures this weekend, work has me staying for 13-14 hours a night and I don't have much time to mess around. Besides another co worker and fellow fan wants photo op and he works the night shift.

Helmet. I have another too, it has the Three Stooges quote, "SMILE: Killcam #1" over the camera and the WY logo with "Hired Gun" underneath (A throwback to the Vietnam "LBJ Hired Gun" that was somewhat popular in those times)

Some of those are made up. Guess the real geek references and get uh.. a cookie?
My nod to my other geeky passion BSG. This same expression with a few word changes, was related to me by a friend's father who was a Marine Captain. Somewhat funny story to go along with it.

Anyone who plays Warhammer 40k and frequents /tg/ on 4chan knows of the Angry Marines. Google images them. You'll find out what they're all about...

The collection's home for now:

The chestplate is going to get the Chang Beer logo with "Defender of the Chang" and that'll do me for graffiti apart from the name stencils...

Thanks guys...
I have a Tokyo Marui M1 Thompson airsoft gun. Just need the bits and pieces to convert it up... there is a plastic/metal/resin conversion kit out there for them but its a bit pricey. But then again, real parts are even more so.
The ALiens community I've noticed is pretty dedicated and if I had the money to thrown down on a resin Smartgun and Smartgunner's sight and breastplate. I'd use my metalworking know how and some plans to build the Steadicam rig by hand (plans are all over for them and with basic knowledge of metalworking and springs and plenty of time you can make it happen.)

Cadian Gate is one of the real references. But then, I would know because I play IG.
Also, really sweet set of armor dude.

== WARNING ! ANGRY MARINES INBOUND ! ==
Will post finished and converted models pics soon. (army is about half done) Maybe I should start up a new topic, so people can post pics of their armies/conversions.
