Re: New players/readers!
Hello! I ran into this forum a couple of nights ago and wanted to drop in an application. I've never played a game that runs on points before. I'm used to playing literary roleplays where each writer gets together to create a story.
This will be something different for me so I'll see if I like it or not. Either way, it's nice to meet you all. Hope to see you around.
I'll be playing the character "Jean Wey" as soon as someone gets around to looking up my application (if I'm accepted).

Read dugans post in the character creation thread. If You still need help, give me a holler and You can get my MSN and I will help You.
Another alternative is that You write what kind of Character You want and I will create him/her for You - No problem.
Cheers!

Yeah, I haven't received any new messages or anything yet. I don't know when I'm free to jump in. I saw a thread with only a page on it so far, I don't know if that means that it's a new campaign I can dive into, or what?
Please add me to your MSN. It's the only way I'll know what to do. I'm a total nugget at this.
I read the directions on how to join but the directions tell me that something will be there, that I don't see.

I don't see anything that says "Join Game", anywhere.1. Register at the forum.
2. Once registered and confirmed You will see a Join Game section in the campaign category.
3. Follow the instructions there.

Re: New players/readers!
Hi Jean, your character has been added to the roster (click the Byrons Bandits link and then Link to Roster). But theres a few problems. Your skills are wrong. You should have:
Select 1 skill in which You are Expert.
Select 2 skills in which You are Professional.
Select 3 skills in which You are Certified.
Select 4 skills in which You are Novice.
At the moment you've only got 1 Professional, 2 Novice and 2 Certified skills. Tell me which ones you want to ammend and I'll change it rather than you making a new character.
Also there should be a Boot Camp campaign starting soon so you will be able to take part in that. It lets you get used to the game system and have some fun while waiting for entry into the main campaign.

Re: New players/readers!
I'm not too sure which exact sets of skills I had so I'll just start it from scratch and put it here. Thanks for your help.
Survival - Expert
Scouting - Professional
Awareness - Professional
Computer - Certified
Climbing - Certified
Motion Tracker - Certified
Medical Aid - Novice
Gun Combat - Novice
Diplomacy - Novice
Portable welder - Novice
Since I have a huge fascination with Isaac Asimov's works, this might explain why I chose these attributes to my character which I plan on being an Android like Bishiop/etc.
I was also wondering if we can post literary character profiles somewhere? Or do we just forego that jump in? lol, I guess I'll learn as I go. Thank you all so much for your help.

Ok one problem though you can't play as an android, unless you get permission from Nick. They get a Strength, Agility and Intelligence of 21 but can't enter into combat plus they also get 8 skills at Expert and 16 at Certified.

Re: New players/readers!
But... Androids are like -- only half as strong as a human being; especially in the "Aliens" universe. They can't enter combat at all usually.
"I cannot harm or through inaction allow to be harmed - a human being.," -Bishop
I just know I would enjoy writing the interaction of my character from a different viewpoint than a human being.
I firmly believe that Androids are generally weak compared to a Human Being with average-health.
Ash was easily subdued, Bishop barely had enough strength to hold onto a ten year old child, and Lucall was also easy to handle when she was physically unwilling to comply.
From theatrical experience, one fairly muscle-bound human being could probably rip an android a new one with little effort. Not much strength at all.

Re: New players/readers!
I'm going by the rules book. Maybe Androids designed for certain tasks could be made stronger? Plus also in the book it says some androids had there behavioural inhibiters removed illegally and were used as assasins..
Bishop was quite agile though, think about when he crawled through that little tunnel and then at the end remote piloted the dropship.
The best thing to do if you have your heart set on it would be to PM Nick or wait for a reply here. But I guess in order for you to take part in bootcamp you will have to play a marine for the time being. As I don't think Androids would go through boot.
