The Marines filled down the dark damp corridor, where a wall and door would have been was a shattered mess. Shadows reflected eerily on the walls.

Since Petrova was no where near the door, he kept looking at the ceiling.

Simovic didn't envy the other two squads having to go in and get the MIA's but he was sure that he wouldn't let them down. He along with the rest of Roberts squad started working on the two barriers, while 2nd Squad setup the Sentry Guns on the upper level. Simovic had a thought, clicking on the command channel he spoke to Morrison who was preparing his men to move out "Morrison if you want we can try and draw out the main bulk of the Xeno's while your men wait to one side before going in, this way you stand a better chance of snatching the MIA's, as the Xeno's should be preoccupied with us".

The only consideration was how exactly would they draw them out?

Private wrote:Since Petrova was no where near the door, he kept looking at the ceiling.
Simovic noticed Petrova milling around while the others worked on the defences. "Petrova stop watching the ceilings and get your ass into gear. Get those Sentry Guns activated, move it!". One part of him was thinking to send the man into draw the Xeno's out for punishment. But he wasn't that cruel.

O.O.C This is how we will setup to defend.

Image

The Sentry Guns will be facing towards the hole but on the higher level. Hopefully to prevent them shooting up our own men if we are followed or engaging the Xeno's while retreating.

Note. There are only 4 Dead Shots (Winter is injured and has stayed on the dropship). Also the Cue Balls only have 3 men as Honeysett is commanding from the dropship.

Thus far, Quinn had been very quiet since Dirk's death. Somewhere inside, he knew that he couldn't have been saved, but that didn't stop the guilt of not having been able to do more, to somehow work a miracle. But he hadn't been able to, and that slowly ate at him inside.

In the meantime, he had worked on Eric's arm as much as he'd been able, but without time to heal, it would remain in it's cast. Quinn could only really administer some painkillers and recommend that he use it to brace whatever weapon he happened to be using at the time.

Eric would have noticed that Sixtus seemed detached from the whole proceedings. Morse, being the other medic, had a bio monitor on every Marine. Where most Marines had their heart rates slightly elevated at least, Quinn's was steady, no adrenaline in his system. Just...

Cold.

For the moment, he was second in the Cue Ball's line, with his weapon out, the motion sensor still attached to the weapon.

Ward kept searching for hostiles. He could feel an ambush would ensue soon. He only hoped that he was wrong and that the xenomorphs were unaware of their return to the battle. They were in No Man's Land and he knew it. As Ward was struggling to see any hostiles through the foggy mess the aliens had concocted, a thought occured to Ward. One that nearly turned his white skin even paler than it already was.

He had heard from the Company Commander of the Easy Eights', Captain McCoy that the Gunny had been in the brig. Why would they suddenly release him unless... they thought he was not coming back. What a better way to rid themselves of what they perceived a criminal than a suicide mission. Ward quickened his pace up to the front of the squad and tapped the Gunny on the shoulder, attracting his attention. He just wanted to see if the experienced Marine shared his thoughts.

"Yo, Gunny... you were in the brig for awhile, right? Well, why would they suddenly release you for this mission... unless they thought it was a suicidal one and you would not come back? You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'? Just wondering, man." Ward whispered, allowing only for the Gunny to hear.

He somehow knew that his thoughts' were correct. This was a suicide mission and those REMFs in their cushiony offices had sent them to their deaths knowingly. The brass had just sent fellow Marines to their deaths. Ward was not a traitor and would of course, follow through on the mission. Marines were known for making the impossible, possible. So he was going to make sure, along with the rest of his squad, that they all came out of this alive. Maybe with a lot of teamwork, a miracle from the Lord, and more than a little luck, they would come out alive. He gripped his rifle tighter and silently emitted a prayer to the Almighty. He then reached for his cross, almost panicing when he did not feel it. However, he then remembered he had given it to Roberts' and calmed down.

Instead, he glanced down at his pocket, almost seeing through it to the picture of a beautiful woman smiling at him. His fiance and soon to be, wife. He was now calm. He would come back home to his girl. He would return and wrap his arms around her slender body. He would see her graceful smile and laugh with her as he used to. He had something to go back to and he had a squad of battle-hardened Marines to trust and rely on.

Morse had noticed that Quinn seemed to be, more or less, out of it after Dirk died, it wasn't a problem, its just it would be in everyones best interest to have him as alert and ready as possible

Quinn, stay with us, your the front medic up there, im rear medic. Lets just make sure these guys stay alive

<tag quinn

Morse kept on moving, he was the third person in his line of four, so he almost the last man in the line

He didnt really have any idea how everyone else was holding up, he just knew that he wanted to get out of there with as many people he could keep alive

[O.O.C check your squads before posting. Command (Cue Balls) and 1st Squad (Break Shots) are going in to rescue the MIA's. 2nd (Trick Shots) and 3rd Squad (Dead Shots) are staying back and constructing a perimeter defence]

Schrodder was never much of a construct-a-life saving barricade kinda guy, he was not sure were to start, although he did have a few ideas like a giant wall with a moveable section to let Command and 1rst squad in and the xenos out, but they obviously did not have the rescources or the time to do that. He slid a crate over to where he decided was a good spot, grabbed a mag and checked it, and put it down on the crate so he could just drop an empy magazine and grab the full one quick with out fumbling around in his combat webbing.

He got down on a knee and visually scanned for any xenos, 'Damn, they could blend in so easily with these walls' Erik thought as he looked at the strange designs that the resin made on the wall, breaking his concentration for a second. After a few brief seconds Erik shook his head and resumed scanning for ambushes.

((OOC: Dugan, the autoguns won't fire on the Marines, as the armor incorporates an IFF. Getting civvies out past the guns might be another matter though.))

Screaming-Eagle shot a look at Ward."You secure that shit Marine. Thinking that way will get you in a body bad or a xenomorph's stomach. We are going to get our guys out. Alive or dead. Now get ready for contact." He said as he watched the walls and the darkness in the hallway.

Ward heard the Gunny and knew what he was trying to do. Deny the obvious so that no one paniced. He was trying to make it seem easy. They both knew what was going on. He had no doubt they would escape with their lives, but he did know this was a suicide mission.

Semper Fi, Do or Die. He would fight with his unit to the end, but something told him deep inside he was going to die tonight. He shook that thought out of his head. He had to survive. He just had to. He sighed to himself, he really did not know. But, he had a mission to complete and he was going to do it.

"No tango's." Ward said, hoping the situation would remain like that.

Ward kept reviewing the objectives in his mind. Find intel and save the prisonsers. Why did they take those Marines prisoners? Why? There had to be some specific reason why multiple Marines had been grabbed and taken, being kept alive. Something definitely was wrong here and he did not like it. His strategic and tactical mind was racing as the grunt portion of his mind kept him focused on what was going on.

"Hate this fuckin' fog. Can't see shit past five meters." Ward said, mainly to access the squad on his situation.

Simovic was working fast erecting the barriers when he heard Petrova's response. "Once the Sentry Guns are online guard the right barrier with the rest of your squad". He hoped Petrova shooting was a little better than his aptitude or they really were in the shit!

Fox moved to point. His game face was on. He did not move his head from the rifle. He kept, everywhere he was looking, in pulse rifles sights. Not a single peep came out of fox.
