Turn 10 Hope in the Dark of the Night

Post by Pale Rider » Tue Nov 13, 2007 10:40 pm

Date: May 21, 2080
Time: 2400
Location: Don Quixote Penal Colony

Smoke clouded the air, dropping visibility to next to nothing. The low atmosphere coupled with a lack of a natural air current did next to nothing to spread the smoke. The Marines spread out to their assigned locations and dropped into an attentive position awaiting the word to begin the assault. Peering through their goggles they realized that the bodies of their companions were missing.

The Air around the vessel is charged with an electrical anticipation, thick with the excitement that electrifies the bodies of combat marines everywhere as they waited with baited breath for things to come. Screaming Eagle spoke briefly with Sergeant Honeysett, then he faded off into the smoke filled alleyways, his heat signature last seen disappearing into the cooler shade of the treeline.

As the squads fell into position, Jacob switched the mic to all channels.

"I want on of the APCs to get into a covered position if it's possible and I want it to open fire on this ship, try and get a response out of it. If we draw blanks, we can wait! Any volunteers to man the APC gun?!?"

Jacob sorely wanted to be the one in that gun-seat, but knew that if he was killed taking the two top links of the field command out in one mission was too high-a risk to take.

Eric Roberts whispered into the mic, "Sir, I'm trained in those, I'll take it."

He couldn't wait for a chance at those pirates with the APC turret.
"Anyone currently injured?" he asked Jonsson.
Forced to move out before he could brief Sixtus and help him look for wounded, he was nonetheless confident the man would find out who needed what and get it to them.
"I'm looking for some payback. I'm sick of this happening to me, and those pirates are gonna pay for it..." he hissed beneath his breath to Jonsson.
Also unable to reply to Eric's comment, he now made time at Eric's somewhat rapid volunteering for gunner position. Smacking his fist on the man's armored shoulder, he spoke to him in a low voice. "Just don't get yourself killed, man. Scum like this aint worth it, play it safe, play it slow, unless things get nasty."

Simovic replied in his comm set, "OK as soon as the APC fires I'll lease off my surprise and you shoot any mother fucker who has the stupidity to show his face".

Simovic took off his IMP pack and unbuckled the SADAR from it he then extended the device in a quick motion and flipped the trigger assembly and sight out. He moved so only his head was over the cover his squad was in. Peering through the sight on the weapon he could make out the glowing outline of the ship, he studied it and worked out a place of the hull he believed punching a hole in would be most beneficial for gaining entry.

(O.O.C roll Knowledge check)

As soon as the APC fired Simovic would pull the trigger and gude the rocket to its target by use of visual data sent through the sight and the trigger assembly being used as a joystick to guide the rocket.

He spoke over the command channel "Ready on your mark".

"Roger that Dugan" Dirk said as a grim smile crossed his lips. Spitting a stream of tobacco juice out he watched the ship.

Dirk waited for the attack. It felt good. Soon he would kill as many of those fuckers as he saw. No survivors he thought over and over again.

Sixtus pulled on his mask/rebreather in case these idiots would try gassing their own ship. But most likely, it'd be a bomb. But if they needed their craft intact, gas would be the likely trap. The less oxygen in the air, the more likely the Marines would be breathing in the gas. And the more oxygen the Marines would get from the mask, the more attentive they'd be at their jobs.

"Platoon Leader, this is Private Quinn. Medical suggestion for all Marines to don oxygen masks. All Marines are reading lowered oxygen levels in bloodstream, and if hostiles decide to use poison gas, we'll be prepared, over."

"Fuck this shit" Khan said as he climbed out the APC into position. He surveyed the area, the difference in weight between the Pulse Rifle and the Smartgun was noticible, he had a wider free range of movement and the ability to move at an alarming rate. He moved fast for the biggest guy in the platoon.

Fox had made his way to a tactical position along some cover keeping his eyes focused on what was ahead of him. He pulled down his oxygen mask, along the his eyepiece and tried to make anything moving. He flipped his com on and spoke in a low tone after he adjusted to the proper channel.

"Scouting the Area."He flipped his com down after he spoke into hit.

"Light em up Roberts" Huey said, when he went for the APC guns. "Fox get ready for an ambush" Williams dropped his IMP and readied his RPG. He loaded a shell into it. Dugan had his SADAR and with an APC gun and an RPG, these fuckers were going down. Shit it was almost unfair. Absolutely perfect for Huey's tastes.

"Infrared, clear." The com rattled a little with his warm voice.

Fox kept watch on the infrared just in case something did show up. He kinda felt like one of the soldiers in one of those bio hazard soldiers. It was like the area was contaminated with a virus that turned people into zombies or creatures. Fox shook his imagination off as he began to scout the area again.

"Permission to creep up?" He kinda felt like a weirdo using the term "creep", for he didn't like it.

Following the progress of the situation the best he could, Jonsson waited patiently for orders, but his insides were twitching with anticipation as he breathed in the excited atmosphere. He double checked his weapon, making absolutely sure his rifle was running as smoothly as possible.
