Turn 3 Welcome to Hesseneu

Post by Pale Rider » Thu Mar 22, 2007 7:26 pm

Date: 10th November, 2080AD, 01:15UT
Location: Zenus Cluster, Orbit of Zenus Vier.
Operation: Zenus Mishap
Mission timer: 00:15

The use of both APC's required the Marines to prep and fly both dropships. Fortunately for the marines of the Delta Dogs, they had Abbot to pilot one and John Harvard and Mona Diaz to manage the other Cheyenne. Abbot was trained through programming to handle the task of both pilot and flight engineer. He boarded the and prepped the dropship scheduled for the 1st Squad also known as the Hell Hounds and took his seat in the cockpit firing up the engines. He scanned his eternal memory banks to analyze which of the marines would be making this flight: 2nd Lieutenant Morrison would be traveling with the Hell Hounds; Squad Leader was Lance Corporal Alexander, and Smart Gunner Private First Class Green, Rifleman Pvt. Harmon, and his databanks showed that he would be filling in as ComTech for this mission.

The claxon sounded the order for all Marines to board the dropship. Each man strapped themselves into their crash seats. Going through rituals that dated back to prior missions the older timers settled into their places. Unknown to the freshly minted marines from boot camp, they were establishing rituals that they will follow in missions that are yet to come or at least those who return from this mission will.

Dropping low into the atmosphere, the dropships are suddenly enveloped by dark grey clouds. Lightening dancing from cloud to cloud causes eerie shapes to dance around the dropships, to some they are strikingly similar to the shapes seen in the muzzle flashes on board the Andromeda to others they are nothing to be concerned with. The loud bass rumble of thunder can be heard over the whine of the engines and its subsonic vibrations felt as it rolled over the metal machines flying through the atmosphere. A sudden wind shear sends the ships skittering in the air, only the veteran skills of the human pilot prevents the dropship of the 2nd Squad from rolling over and the mechanical precision of the synthetic man the other. As quickly as it started the turbulence is over as they drop through and into the lower atmosphere of Zenus Vier. The amber light of the dropships’ interiors are suddenly changed to a brilliant emerald green, alerting the marines that the ride was almost over and it was time for work to begin.

As gentle as a mother with her newborn babe, the dropships are down and the marine’s loaded into their respective APCs. A winding path takes them from the primitive landing field atop the plateau overlooking the city of Hesseneu. Hesseneu is rather metropolitan for this backwater planet. Its high rises made out of gray stones and rocks, resemble wide box castles. But its rural background is not too quickly forgotten as interspersed among the larger buildings are smaller wooden homes and the local meat source can be seen grazing on the grass outside of all the buildings. A building containing a large granite cistern contains the cities fresh water supplies and before it some 25 yards stands the cities windmill. The entire populace of Hesseneu lives within the 250 acres of land that is not too moisture laden to support the buildings. A 7 meter tall wooden palisade surrounds the entire area to protect the inhabitants from the natural predators of Zenus Vier.

Following coordinates given to him in the briefing paperwork, Lieutenant Morrison directs Abbot to stop the APC in front of the largest building, which looks as if it contains all the major offices of Winn-Crest Agricultural Corporation representatives on Zenus Vier. The door opens to reveal a short man, who appears to be about as broad as he is tall, dressed in an off white uniform, a sky blue beret with the logo of Winn-Crest. His collar reveals that he is a Lieutenant Colonel. Stepping to ground level, the gentleman settles into parade rest, and waits for the marines to disembark.

Setting foot on the ground, Jacob sniffed the air and looked around. He hoped this guy could be trusted...if he was untrustworthy he'd soon feel a bullet in the back of his head...

Slinging the incinerator, Jacob slowly scanned the area - holding his pulse rifle loosely. Hopefully not much would go wrong, but he couldn't un-remember the amount of dodgy missions in the eights, and this seemed about par information wise...

Just as Con had predicted might happen, Joe was the first one out of the second APC. He followed Honeysett's lead and slung his incinerator then took a covering position with his Scoped M42 while the rest emptied out of the APCs.

Morrison quickly surveyed the area.

Seems harmless enough he thought.

"Ok people! Get out there, but don't bunch up! Helmets off will make you seem friendlier- you're most likely the coolest thing the kids here have ever seen- so hand them the sweets from the MRE's. Firm, Fair, Friendly- remember that." Morrison said over the platoon's frequence.

Walking up to the oddly shaped man in white, Morrison presented a quick, snappy salute: "Good day to you, sir. I've been told there's a problem here that we can help you fix?"

L. Col. Brooke looked the man over, his trained eye noticed the man's stance was slightly off kilter, evidence that the man somehow didn't respect the rank he held because he was living on this distant planet. What the marine failed to realize that this distant planet held the key to Winn-Crest's success in making their bid for becoming one of the major players in the food and drug market. He returned the salute, "Lieutenant Morrison, your men can bivauc in the farthest building on the main compound. Why don't your command team and I go to my office to discuss things while your men get settled in."

Tarik cocked his M56 and placed the saftey on before stepping out of the APC, he took a look around, it was alot like home..Wonderful.. He thought of the incident that took his colony by storm and wonder what went through the marines heads as they disembarked so many years ago.

Tarik ignored the order the last thing he needed was a kid getting too close and his gun going off, besides most colony kids had sticky fingers. He would of removed his helmet if he wore one, he just had a standard issue cover and dust goggles along with his mic and eyepiece.keep your head on a swivel Tarik..this is what whoever we were sent here to stop has been waiting for...the calvary..

"Sure thing" Morrison said with a nod "Smiles, you're with me- the rest of you, set up camp in that building over there-" Morrison knifehanded the building that the colonel had indicated "and hustle to it, Marines!"

Turning back to Brooke, Morrison inserted a huge lump of dip "Awright" he said "Now let's talk business."

Slipping out of the APC he motions with his hands that Rigon move up and Khan cover the rear of the APC. Taking off his helmet he waves to the kids as he takes in the terrain and layout of the colony. "Pretty much like my colony's layout. Back to work though."

"Konterran back on the APC and drive it to the front of that building. Park it so the weapons point out and we can leave in a hurry if necessary. Drive slow cause Second Squad going to escort you." Jones calls out to Second Squad. Clicking on his comm so only command can hear him as he relays those orders. "Unless there is a problem with those sir? Con I recommend that when we get there you put Harmon up on the roof of that building so we can get an eyeball on the surrounding terrain."

Clicking over to Second Squad Channel as the men get into position. "Ok gentlemen even though we have a nice cushy building to hole up in I don't want us to relax quite yet. We get there Konterran and Khan go in and check out that building. Rignon you are going up on the roof. To get a view of it yourself and to provide overwatch. I am going to walk a perimeter around the building and get a better idea of the exterior. I want a report at the front of that building within five minutes of getting to it so move fast. After that I will probably have strategize with Alexander or gotten another briefing from boss."

Smiling at the orders Jacob nodded that the orders were sound.

"Con, you might as well get first settled in to. make sure everything's sound in case anything goes down." Turning back to face the Col,

Jocke wrote: "Smiles, you're with me..."

"Sir" He saluted informally at the new CO..."Morrisson" He nodded in recognition and stood there.

Jacob had walked up next to Morrisson. He hadn't taken his helmet off. He'd never taken it off when on mission. There could be an enemy in any place. He mentally flinched a dragon under any floorway pushing the memory to the back of his mind, Jacob tensed raising the pulse rifle slightly. He hoped the Colonel wouldn't be threatened, though, maybe it would be a good thing if he was...made more co-operative. He'd play it on what Morrisson did and how much information the intel gave him.

Turning around he called to Con "bring the otherAPC up with first too. Don't park 'em too close to each other."

{OOC: I thought we had 2 - hope I'm right...if not disregard this}

Tag Con

Resuming his original stance, he coughed and spat a lump of phlegm at the floor to his side and fumbled for a cigarette which he lit with his zippo lighter, he hadn't wiped the blood on it off from his luckiest mission to date. Taking out a suicide bomber with a lighter was pretty classy.

To someone who didn't know him - like this man - he must have looked either very grizzled and veteran...only his relatively youthful face would detract from that. Yes, he'd look either grizzled and veteran or insane...

neither the best first impression that could be made.

Ronald climbed out after the others he groaned softly and rubbed his shaked cheeks, he looked around a bit afterwards, scanning the landscape and then takes position on the others, waiting for orders like always.

Joe had been wearing his helmet almost since he woke up. It seemed unnatural to wear it in the safety of the ship just to take it off once they touched down on an uncertain planet, but he did his best to soften his demeanor to appear friendlier to the natives.

Still focused on his job, he smiled and gave a kind of salute-wave to the on looking children then turned to Con, "What are first squad's orders?"

"Sure thing Wrench" Tarik smiled and put his hat on backwards and fliped his goggles around to face the front, he was beginning to like the informal part of this mission.

he followed the APC closely behind at a brisk pace, he smiled again as the children"ooed and awed" at the sheer power of the Marines and their equipment. As they approached the building started seeing flashes he blinked when he did everything seemed to turn to a yellowish hue. He closed his eyes tightly again and shook his head. Once again it was normal..What the hell....

Lt. Col. Brooke led the way into the interior of the office complex. The walls were a standard military gray, and had the obligatory bulletin boards. He opened a door at the far end of the corridor and ushered the Command Staff into the confines of the office he had been issued upon his arrival since the escalation of the incidents. One side of the room contained a diorama of Zenus Vier and the installations of Winn-Crest. Closer examination would prove to show that what was being seen was not a physical representation, but rather a holographic image created by satellite imagery. The marines of the Delta Dogs could be seen traveling to the barracks that they would be occupying. Also evident was a small platoon of the security guards filing out of the said barracks and falling into parade rest before the building in the parade clearing.

Brooke turned around and faced the two men before him. “I will tell you straight forward, no one knows for sure what is going on. My unit and I have been in system for the better part of a month and we are no further along discovering what is happening here than we were the day we arrived on planet. The only thing I do know is we have had continual break-ins within our Southern facilities. The odd thing is nothing is really taken outside of the occasional animal that is of import as far as research goes. To date we have had a total of 1,000 disappearances among the personnel. Fourteen of which have occurred since our arrival. There have been no signs of weapons fire, yet we have discovered trace amounts of human DNA which has proven to belong to members of the missing personnel.â€

“Here is where the heaviest incidents have occurred. Our desire is for your team to travel down the middle of the plains region and enter in the laboratory compounds. I will be sending you a platoon of eight men including a sergeant to act as my representative on the mission. He will of course answer to your orders at all times but, he will also be carrying out his own mission requirements. Do either of you have any questions or comments on the current plans?â€
