It was as if the heavens had opened up. The rainfall was incredible, no one in Recon had ever experienced anything like it. Drops sized like marbes splashed down with tremendous intensity. Instead of the hissing sound that normally come with heavy rain this was more of a roar. The thick canopy witheld the initial minutes but now streams of water was pouring down from above. The ground quickly became a quagmire and the rough marine boots slipped on the slippery roots.

The jungle was incredibly dense, they where forced to use machetes to be able to get through at some places. In three hours they had made a little more than a kilometers progres, the ground was starting to tilt slightly upwards. Streams of murky brown water appeared everywhere. Small slides of mud and water rushed past dem down the slope.

Slowly their Ghilliesuit covered bodies turned from the green bushes they had been to gray claymen. The mud was extremely adhesive and furiously sucked down their boots every step they took. Their legs numb from the constant strain and the heavy load of equipment they where carrying.

Suddenly through a gap in the canopy they spotted the lookout tower. A tall thin, slightly tilted construction made of grey metal. The inky blue sky behind made it almost impossible to see with the human eye - But the BiMex goggles showed the tower in sharp contrast. The tower was well over a kilometer away and they had much ground to cover.

Current Marching Order
Dar – Point (Alpha)
Screaming Eagle – 2nd (Beta)
Bojan – 3rd (Gamma)
Bob - Tail Gun Charlie (Omega)

"First, find yourself a position to observe the objective. I want to know the number and disposition of hostiles at the objective. Defenses, patrols, any weak points you can identify."

"Second, I need to know if they're using that lookout tower and how. If they are I want ideas on how you can eliminate any forces there. Don't engage them at this point, all I want is information."
James was playing through his mind the conversation that he had had with the LT. She had lain down the guidelines for what he and his men were to do. He had then briefed them on their orders.

Slowly their Ghilliesuit covered bodies turned from the green bushes they had been to gray clay men. The mud was extremely adhesive and furiously sucked down their boots every step they took. Their legs numb from the constant strain and the heavy load of equipment they where carrying.
James was tired; he looked back at the rest of the squad. Each one was making their way through the bush pretty much like he had done. Putting one foot in front of the other and keeping their eyes peeled. With Dar running point he didn’t have much to worry about the man had an uncanny way of detecting if danger was near. During their Special Training they had all learned how to run each position in the line as well as commanding the squad in the event anyone went down due to injury. Individually they were effect weapons, combined they became a literal killing machine.
James tapped his radio and whispered into the mike, “Alpha, hold your ground while the rest of us come to you. Omega we are forming up on Alpha. Gamma make radio contact with Papa Bravo and inform them we have visual.â€

"Alpha to Beta. Unable to complete assignment in 10. Advise."
"Roger that Alpha!!! Be advised we are revising the the mission parameters. Radio in when you have made the outside perimeter location. I repeat. Radio in when you have made the outside perimeter location. Time is of an essence so please make haste, but do so with safety and the orders of no contact."

James motioned Bojan forward and took the com radio ensuring that the radio was on the secured command frequency. "Bravo Papa be adviced the weather has delayed our forward progress we estimate at least an additional twenty minutes to reach the designated targets perimeter. Do you have any further orders or additional information concerning the mission?"

Dar gave a quick "Roger." and went back to slogging. The muck was amazing... the ground effectively turned into a quagmire every time the rain struck. What a fun place for an exercise. Still... his gut was beginning to twist... there was something funny, but he just couldn't put a finger on it.

As quickly as he could, Dar moved up and scanned the perimeter of the location. Once he arrived, he would check in with the available data...

Dar scanned the area but could not see anything in the rainstorm spewing down water.

"Alpha to Beta. Visibility 2 meters, unable to complete assignment without risking detection. Advise."
James sat back for a moment and rehashed things in his mind. He made up his mind as he recalled something a Spec Forces drill instructor had drilled into his head concerning leading the ops and actually running the ops.

"A 'proper' reccie of a position is done this way; One member of the team advances as close to the perimeter as possible, the backs off, shifts position, (that is, moves to the left or the right) and advances again. this can be done with several team-members from several directions, or just one tem-member, doing one direction at the time. Speed costs stealth, obviously."

Clicking on the encoded mic, "Okay Alpha hold your position Gamma, Omega, and I will pull forward to your position. We need to reaccess the situation and factor in the best situation."

"November Five Five to Papa Bravo, come in Papa Bravo," James called. He listened intently. Either the rain had damaged the radio or the storm was interferring with the reception, but he had not received any further communications from his superiors. He advanced slowly to Dar's position. The torrential rain was causing it to be difficult to move. The mud sucked at his boots harder than a whore plying her trade and it didn't help matters that they seemed to be moving down hill which meant that the water was flowing past their feet. "Alpha, I should be at your current position in three minutes or less."
