The hatch literally desintergrated as the breaching charge exploded in a white flash and accompanying bang. "Go, go, go" Someone shouted and within five second all of the Marines had made entry.
A small flight of stairs led down in two sections with a small plattform between. Gagarin moved first, sweeping his Smartgun to help the Targetting computer to sweep the area in front of them. Pvt. Bojan had the queue and slowly checked their six every few meters. It was pitch black and they carefully had to feel their way down the stairs, the light coming in from the hatch was just enough to see the contours of the man in front of you.
Every sound seemed to multiply by a thousand, a small screw bounched away over the floor. As far as the Marines where concerned it might as well have been a Safe that rumbled away from them giving their position away.
Gagarin reached a door. Light seeping in from around its edges. The faint light fell on Morrisons face and he nodded to open it. The door opened with a small creeking sound and a broad hallway opened up in front of them. Marble clad floors and white panels in the roof. Green plants every two meters. The light was white, almost blueish. In the end of the corridor, perhaps twenty meters away, furniture had been stacked in an ad hoc barricade. Behind that barricade three people had taken cover with their automatic weapons menacingly pointing in their direction. As soon as they saw the Marines one of the people behind the barricade, appearantly a leader figure since she had a richly ornamented cloth hanging over her cried hysterically "Kill them...kill them all!"
