Turn 19

"All dropstations secured...release on my mark....three, two, one, mark" The security bars slammed into the shoulders of the marines as the ship dropped down, immediately starting to accelerate to several kilometers per second. Moments later the second dropship departed from the ship, barreling down after the first.

The two ships pummeled down into the atmosphere. The heat shields glowed bright white from the particle bombardment.

The ships started to rattle and shake as they started to hit thicker air lower into the atmosphere. The engines kicked in and revved up and down as the pilots tried to find the perfect approach vector. Equipment, weapons and armor banged against eachother topped by the deafening whine of the engines - it was far from a smooth ride.

"Get ready people five minutes" The pilots voice said over the intercom

"I fucking hate these things" Yells Jacob to no-one in particular.

He has an unlit fag in the corner of his mouth, which he pretends to be smoking - it soothes his nerves somewhat...

he looks at the marines around him nad thinks to himself 'I wonder how many of these marines I'll be with on the return journey...' grinning to himself he taps his head "touch wood I'll be on the return journey" He says under his breath

Ronald didnt know if he should worry about all the marines who were talking to themselves or if he should worry that the whole ship could expolde any moment so he just sat there and prayed to God, not that he knew any prayers but God probably listened to improvised prayers to.

"Get ready people five minutes"

Sticking a finger into his mouth, fishing out the dip (quiet an accomplishment in the rocky dropship) and throwing it on the floor between his feet, Morrison panned his head left and right, looking at the men in his squad.

"Time to get moto", he thought.

"Listen up Marines! Keep your heads down, no fuckin' heroics- they won't pay you if you're dead! Just look out for eachother, and this WILL go smoothly! If someone looks important, try to take them alive- but remember that we just need one, ok? KILL BODIES!" opening his can of dip, inserting a big lump under his lower lip, then slipping the can back in his thigh-pocket.

"And one more thing", he added- flashing a sly grin to the men, "somebody wake up Bojan."

Lt Cpl Steel held his face immobile as the dropship plummeted towards earth. Breathing easily he went over the plan in his head, again and again, trying to think of any possible complications that could arise from the upcoming operation.

In his opinion they were going in without enough marines, especially as some goddamn traitor had leaked the attack to the cultists and they would be waiting for them.

'Women and children' the Lieutenant had said. Nick wasn't ready to blow away children, but it looked like this mission was going to get dirty. Perhaps they could get the cultists to let the children go, however when dealing with extremists it was unlikely you could get them to do anything that went against thier twisted world view.

Nick wasn't much one for introspection but he knew whichever way this went he wasn't coming out of this op without blood on his hands.

Gosha sat strapped into his dropp seat still with that strange smile on his face and a distant look in his eyes.
"Cry "Havoc," and let slip the dogs of war!" He said aloud and looked from face to face amongst the comrades that sat by his side in the droppship.
"Woof woof" He added with dry grin and a wink.
