Turn 9

Post by Nick » Fri Apr 14, 2006 7:36 pm

"Go!" The doors slid up to the access-pylon and second squad peered down their weapons. Four pillars of light pierced into the darkness of the crawlspace. Nothing. The echoe of the large metal door rang out and was soon replaced with an eerie silence.

Second squad entered the pylon in two by two formation, it was tight but manageable. The tracker showed nothing, no contacts what so ever, if something or someone were in the containers they were keeping still. Real still.

Squad two reached the access door to the container which had held the containers. The marines nodded at eachother and slammed the door up charging in - Their lights fell on the floor and what they saw made them speechless.

Meanwhile Squad one were checking out the status of the ship. The crew of WY 109 had been moved back to the dropship by Xigo, the comtech of Squad one. The other three were in the cockpit area, trying to get access to the flight logs.

Back in the container the sight in front of the marines of Squad 2 started to sink in. In a shapeless heap just inside the door were the bodies of six persons. They all had horrible bruises and some limbs were appearantly broken. A pool of blood surrounded the macabre pile of battered bodies.

Just as they were to report it in the door to the access pylon slid shut with a loud bang behind them. In the same instant a scream was heard over the intercom, unidentifiable but unmisstankenly someone in great pain, it ended moments later in a shallow gasp.

Minutemans voice came in immidiately: "What the...*crackle*...happening? Xigo just flatlined!?"

Bojan immediately moved to the door's control panel and started to try to get it open. Thinking to himself, why didn't we check if they were synthetics?

...the door to the access pylon slid shut with a loud bang behind them.

" There's six corpses here..HOLY FUCK ! ....its the captain... HE'S A FUCKIN' SYNTHETIC!!"
... helpfully offered Rednus.

The realisation of one's being lured then trapped came with great suprise, and the death-gargle of first squads comtech didn't brighten things...

" Seargent Caden!.. jesus..err.. ITS THE CAPTAIN AND THE NAVIGATOR , WE FOUND THE ACTUAL CREW!"
.
.Awaiting the reply, and gaining back his nerves, Chappell raised his M41 and continued:

" We got work to do marines, "
"Talk to me Bojan ! How's that door going ?"...

...peering down the sights of his pulse rifle he laughed and whispered:
" ..Hell to pay , Copperstone. Hell . To . Pay.."

Sweat broke over Magnus's brow; he'd seen some crazy stuff during his years including some horrible accidents while he'd been an intern, but nothing like this. This was... inhumanly deviant.

"Oh my..." Magnus said, his normally annoying voice devoid of it's usually vibrant sarcasm. "...God."

They used to be people. Now they were... discarded marionettes that some brattish child had left in a heap. Only the blood splattered around and the looks of abject horror on thier faces made them real. It was like a vid, one of those horror vids where the audience knew what was about to happen, but the luckless hero's of the show were so incredibly stupid that they just let it happen around them. I used to think those plots were so predicable Magnus thought. That no one was so stupid. Of course it was the synthetics. They tricked us. Bloody stupid meat bag marines. Full of blood, sweat and emotion. So easily tricked.

"Fucking christ!" Mangus exclaimed, his moment of dumbfounded speechlessness over with. "I hate fucking androids!"

"Hey Priest," Magnus shouted into his mic among everyone's confused blabber, "can you track the androids? Are they got into the dropship? Can you lock it down and trap them in there?"

Magnus goes over to the door to see if he can help with unlocking it.

" There's six corpses here..HOLY FUCK ! ....its the captain... HE'S A FUCKIN' SYNTHETIC!!" ... " Seargent Caden!.. jesus..err.. ITS THE CAPTAIN AND THE NAVIGATOR , WE FOUND THE ACTUAL CREW!"
Caden had just finished issuing assignments to 1st Squad when he heard the scream, followed by L Cpl Chappel's stammered warning. Shit! What kind of unholy mess have we walked into?! Caden quickly called the remainder of 1st Squad to attention.

"Green! Grab that smartgun and follow me now! Steel, let's go!"

Caden dashed for the Access Ladder, grabbing a motion tracker. He then turned to look at L Cpl Steel.

"Set up that 'hush puppy' pointed toward the Access Ladder. If those bastards try to double back on us, they'll regret it."

Sgt Caden activated a private comm channel to L Cpl Chappel.

"We're going to get Shirak below. Make sure your IFF transponders are green when you exit that area."

Sergeant Caden slid down the ladder, hit the lower deck, and unholstered his VP70, sweeping the corridor with the motion tracker. Pvt Green was right behind him, navigating his descent as fast as he could with the large weapon, followed a minute later by L Cpl Steel. Caden covered his mic so that only those near him could hear.

"First, we secure the airlock and dropship. If they're hiding elsewhere, they've got nowhere to go."

Minutemans voice came in immidiately: "What the...*crackle*...happening? Xigo just flatlined!?"
Steel froze as he heard Lt Minuteman's voice come over the comlink. He felt what seemed like an icy hand grip his heart, one of his team had just gone down, and he hadn't been there!
"Set up that 'hush puppy' pointed toward the Access Ladder. If those bastards try to double back on us, they'll regret it."
Sgt Caden's assured voice bought Nick back to himself with a start.

"Yes sir!" he replied instantly, his body moving on automatic, setting up the sentry gun so that it covered the Access Ladder. With his mind in turmoil he looked to see that Pvt Andy Dufresne was still with him. Mentally composing himself he ordered Andy to follow him down the ladder then went after Sgt Caden and Pvt Green as fast as he could.
"First, we secure the airlock and dropship. If they're hiding elsewhere, they've got nowhere to go."
Listening to Sgt Caden's orders gave Lt Cpl Steel something to focus on. Nick had his game face on but inside his mind was in turmoil, as he came to grips with what had happened. His first mission as Squad Leader and one of his men was MIA. He could feel his anger slowly building, and he took it and put it in the place inside him where he could hold onto it until the right time when he would unleash it.

A smile came to his face then and there was nothing but bloody murder in it.

"Sarge let's get this done, those goddamn androids have to pay the price for messing with a Marine!" Nick said, his voice dangerously low, as he kept his fury in check.

Green ran after Caden, and listened to everthing he said.
"First, we secure the airlock and dropship. If they're hiding elsewhere, they've got nowhere to go."
And with those words Ronald made sure that everthing was fine with his weapon and grinned. At last he would be able to shoot something.
