Turn 23 pt1.

Post by Nick » Mon Jul 03, 2006 10:01 am

The rainfall had increased slightly and the gloom skies showed no signs of easing up anytime soon. Suddenly the panel next to the door awoke with a sharp beep. The green buttons turned into red and something started to humm on the other side of the large gate. With a rumble the gate started to raise, slowly, protesting by screeches and whines it inched itself up - And as the bottom of the gate left the ground the Marines clearly heard how someone was barking out orders on the other side and they didn't sound friendly...

Ronald turned around slowly, he stared at the red console before he understood what was going on and throw himself down on the ground, taking the laying position and start firing underneath the gate in long bursts, trying to shoot as many as possible.

He also screamed at his companions.. "Throw a grenade, throw a grenade at them quickly!"

Placing a grenade into the grenade launcher section of his rifle, Jacob launched the grenade under the gate, angling it so hopefully it would travel not too far at all, about 10 meters into whatever was behind this gate. Then he moved back to a place of cover and trained his gun on the gate, waiting for targets to appear...

(OOC: As soon as a target appears I shall open fire...)

The M41A recoiled with a "thump" sound. A fraction of a moment later a sharp bang was heard on the other side. More screaming and orders where heard and then a shower of bullets flushed through the slowly increasing gap between the gate and the ground. The tracers flashed by, the bullets screaming like angry bees as they ricochetted on the ground.

The opening of the gate had taken Nick by surprise and he had to quickly change mental gears. He was pleased to see though that both Pvt Green and Pvt Honeysett had acted quickly, both marines grabbing cover and Honeysett then firing a grenade to cause havoc amongst the ranks of the enemy, whilst Green waited to unleash death with his Smartgun.

"Good work marines! Now we wait for them to show themselves and then we go in over their dead bodies!" said Nick to his two fellow marines.

Then Nick waited for them to walk into his sights.

Grinning, Jacob lay in cover - training his sights on where he imagined average head level would be when the doors opened

"Don't forget sir. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread"

Grinning at what he thought to be sage like wisdom, he slowed his breathing so he didn't move his gun as much...accuracy was important to Jacob - who was ever paranoid of running out of ammo midway through a fight.

The gate slid open and a barrage of fire streamed out from it. The shots seemed to be fired in random or panic. Bullets whistled past, ricochetting of the walls and into the cityscape beyond. Screams and orders where heard but it was hard to hear what they said. The stacatto of automatic fire clattered between the walls and despite the rain the Marines where bathing in sweat. The adrenaline and fear stinging in their veins.

"shit shit shit shit shit" muttered Jacob to himself under his breath as bullets whipped past...while they were bullets and obviously quite deadly, he noticed they weren't being shot by professionals - it was too wild for that. Liking the odds a little more, Jacob leant out from his cover and started to return fire in controlled and well aimed bursts...

Ronald who lay down on the ground kep the buttom pressed on his smartgun and the gun kept shoot bullets and aimed for the red headed marine, bullets rained everywhere as the gun switched between the targets. Ronald could do nothing but gasp at the slaughter in front of them.

The only words Ronald could say was "Oh my god", but he didnt cause he was far to busy to do his best to be the surviving man here. His eyeballs switched between the targets and Ronald wished that none of them would stick in his mind to haunt him.

Lt Cpl Steel could see the gates slide open and watched as the barrage of bullets was sprayed through. Nothing came close to the squad so he didn't bother opening up. He could hear the other marines lay down some heavy return fire but he held off, waiting to get a clear sighting of the enemy. He had a grenade with someone's name on it but he didn't want to waste it.

"Good work marines, give these cultists something to really pray about! Let me know when your low on ammo and I will take over firing while you reload. Has anyone got a proper sighting of the enemy yet?" he asked over the commnet.
