Re: Equipment Questions
The main point I have to the ammunition number is several books reference the fact that ammunition in the Aliens universe is a bit weird for us. Bullets are case-less balls about the size of BB's but still explode and leave exit wounds the size of an orange. This is generally why I just pick and ch...

Re: Post Gateway Mission Earth
It's not all that hard, just don't be a complete dumbass and shoot anything that fucking moves. It's how I've survived without much of a scratch on me.Medic Guy wrote:haha I enjoy your sense of humor Morse. If I screw the pooch with my first character, I guess I'll have to try again.

Re: Sentry Guns question....and trees!
Hey PR, did you mean .50 cal on those guns? Because a 50mm is an anti- tank cannon-sized shell.
If that was intentional, then well done, we are solidly in the shit.

Re: Turn 4. Down in the Valley
"We could always give Morse to them," He said mockingly, "Solve two problems that way; one less angry son of a bitch to chewing my ass out and a whole lot less rebels." He was talking to Morse, hoping to keep him awake and to distract himself from the sawing. <Tag Morse> <Continue medical aid> "Som...

Re: Turn 4. Down in the Valley
Quinn worked methodically on Morse, his well-practiced hands moving with enough autonomy to allow part of his mind think about the other situation at hand. His unit was in contact with the enemy and he had a casualty which would have to be medevac'd out. He did have some limited air support, but he ...

Re: Turn 4. Down in the Valley
Quinn was about to snarl again at Morse when he cracked the casing open on the mine. He kept his mouth shut because any distraction could cause the mine to detonate. He did not move from where he was, as he could be the next one to step on a mine. So he removed his knife and began to probe the groun...
Re: Land Mine
Very true, hence likely an IED. And even in Vietnam they had some nasty shit. Claymores, WP, etc. We should also keep an eye out for other traps, like malay whips and pitfalls.

Re: Turn 4. Down in the Valley
"Morse, hold." Quinn ordered, quietly but firmly. He had held his position, kneeling on the ground after having cleared it. He switched radio channel to First Squad. "Dirk, you have a demo man on your team. Need a radio walk through on disarming."
Re: Land Mine
Since it sounds like it's a pressure plate, pretty sure it's an IED, unless we somehow got transported back to WW2. Fortunately, IEDs can be simple to dismantle, depending upon the bomb maker and how creative s/he got. And it's a pretty easy guess that this one mine could eliminate the entire squad....

Re: Turn 4. Down in the Valley
Thus far, Quinn had been keeping quiet while moving along with Morse and the rest of his squad through the jungle. Apparently, either Morse had forgotten he was there, or far more likely, didn't give a flying fuck. He knew Marines bitched (and in certain cases, A LOT), but Morse and his squad were a...
