Juan retreated slowly, step by step. The one thing, that must not happend, is stumbling. Suddenly the smartgun tracking system picked something up and the automatic aiming pointed the barrel to a certain point at the ridge line. This time he was mentally prepared for it, stopped retreating, and took a closer look at it. What the f****, this shape, it ... it doesn't look like one of those harvesters. Quite the contrary, it looked .... human. Could this really be, that there was a human living hiding out there?

"This is Perez, Update, clear visual on a human being, 83 yards on the ridge line in front of me, sticking his or her head out. Awaiting orders, Sir."

Perez was a rookie, not that nervous kind of rookie, but still a rookie, but he was not that kind of stupid rookie to try to be the hero now and pull of some solo performance. He was part of a united colonial marines strike team. Solo stunts tend to lead to lethal career endings.

Jacob's eyes flickered over to the ridge. He couldn't see anything, but that didn't mean there was nothing. He looked to relocate to some cover from the ridge.

"good eyes man, let's see what higher up wants...but right now let's keep tight and in cover"

He hoped Dirk was OK, he hoped the squads looking for him were alive and well, and he hoped that they weren't about to he ambushed, cut off and killed. To come all the way back to die... Here...well that'd be rubbish.

Honeysett brought it to the point. Their top priority was to secure the APC, because nobody wants to rob a bank and the escape vehicle had a flat. On the other hand, there may be some survivors around the area. Maybe they had found one of them. He saw Jacob move over to a better position and covered him in the process. He took another nip from the tube and the drink boosted his concentration and awareness once more.

"Gracias. Cover me, while i am moving to your flank".

Juan relocated his position in relation to Honeysett's, moving slowly and carefully.

Sam saw Roberts move quickly ahead after his response to her and she had to bite down a quick, angry retort for him to wait for the rest of the squad as she knew how much Dirk meant to him...hell to the whole platoon.

Turning to the others, she said; "Okay, Mark, Scarlett stay with me and let's pick it up a bit....after Roberts. Anything on the tracker Giosso?" she asked as she moved her squad quickly, but carefully after Eric, keeping her head on a swivel....

"Hum?" Mark said automatically, reacting before his brain was able to catch up with what Sam actually asked. "Yes, but not much. His mike is live, and I'm hearing our echos so we're on the right track. But that also means it's off his head. Still, maybe we can pick up a trace from there."

Mark fought to keep his tone neutral as he spoke, not wanting to add to the anxiety that he knew everyone else was also feeling. He listened for a short while longer before putting away the comms controls in favor of the motion tracker, the cold, logical part of his mind telling him he had already found all that could be determined by that machine.

Dirk's head was pounding as he looked around the darkness. He could see nothing beyond a few inches in front of his face. In the distance he saw a light start to form. Dim at first, then brighter as it bobbed towards his position. His first instinct was to yell for the platoon so they could find him. But the last thing he wanted was to get the thing angry. Especially while he wa buried up to his neck and unable to get out. His only hope was that if he lived, the guys wouldn't give him too much shit for this.

She moved quietly through the dark cave. Her every fiber agitated at the vibrations that carried through the tunnels. Something was approaching the nest and she did the only thing she knew to do. Defend herself and her domain. She sent out the carriers to release those who defended best.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Motion Detectors begin to ping as it picks up two lifeforms heading towards the platoon. The Eights can hear a soft rumbling sound approaching them as two large forms come into view in the tunnel. As soon as they are within Eyesight the two forms halt. Immediately the motion trackers begin to whine as multiple movements are detected, moving rapidly towards the Eights.
