Date: May 21, 2080
Time: 0700
Location: USS Costaguana, Zeta Quadrant New Spain Space 15 hours from A925

The proximity alarm sounded throughout the USS Costaguana as the vessel entered the outskirts of Zeta Quadrant. The first pulse triggered the air scrubbers which rumbled to life anyone who had been a wake at this time would have felt the decks vibrating as the oxygen poor atmosphere was stripped of the excess Carbon dioxide. The steel wombs in which the men and women of the Easy Eights currently slumbered vented the gas into the ships bowels. Within a matter of minutes the atmosphere was clean and restored to an oxygen rich environment suitable for denizens of any mortal colonies.

The second pulse triggered the restoration of the artificial gravity which was roughly 9 g’s, earth’s standard gravitational field ranged in values of g from 9.789 m•s−2 at the equator to 9.832 m•s−2 at the poles. It also reactivated the artificial lifeforms Priest and Abbott. Priest served as the Eight’s Chief Medical and Science Officer while Abbott served as the Chief Engineer. Each men had been on missions with members of the group when they served as the Chief Medical and Science Officers for the Easy Eights and the currently defunct Delta Dogs respectively. Each proceeded to their primary assignments without a word to one another, who knows what sort of dreams their A.I. units had subjected them to over the past five months.

Throughout the vessel the sounds of its awakening could be heard by the pings and bings of the metal as it warmed from the cold of space. Priest went through the chamber, checking vital signs making certain no one had expired during the trip out. Fail safes were in place to prevent this from happening, but unfortunately even these protocals were known to fail. With a final pulse the alarm signaled the wombs to begin the awakening process. Priest stepped back to await the awakening of his charges. Per Captain McCoy’s orders Lt. Morrison had been triggered to awaken approximately one hour before the rest of the Marines to allow the Company Commander time to be brought up todate to any new events within the region.

Abbott headed to the galley to make certain the equipment within was beginning its process of preparing the first meal for the awakening marines. A liquid diet was always the first meal recommend for a long term sleep, this allowed them to break their fast without causing their bodies to reject the first solids and thereby possibly slowing the beginning of a campaign. Already the aroma of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate could be smelled as it permeated the air. There were three types of broth based soups also perculating through the reconstitution tubes: chicken, beef, and vegetable. These had been found to cover the widest range of tastes and preferences. According to Abbott’s internal clock the Marines should come stumbling through within the next hour or so.

Equipment:
6 M-94 Flares, Knife, Hand Welder, Compass, Nylon, Rope, M4A3 PistolM-3 Armor (Ghillie Suit), Entrenching/ Utility Tool, 3 M1000 Flares, 8 M-40 Grenades,Binoculars (High Quality), Short Range Comm, M42A Scope Rifle, and Tomahawk

Darkness. He was home with familey. His father was telling him again what it was to be a Marine. He knew the speach so well he could give it him self. Then he was with the woman he met on leave. He liked her. The image faded into the fire base being attacked by the xenos. Only this time he was alone.

Light. The real world came rushing back to him all at once. He opened his eyes. A blur of light and movement blinded him. Slowly he sat up and waited for his eyes to clear. He remembered where he was after a moment. He hot out of the cryotube and streached. He looked over and saw Eric getting out of his cryo tube.

"Hay Eric, You remember that paramedic I was harassing? Well I told her My neam was Pvt Eric Roberts. You should have some interesting messages waiting for you when we get back" He said with a big smart assed grin on his face, as he walked to the shower.

After takeing a shower Dirk out on a fresh uniform, put his New York Yankees cap in his cargo pocket and headed to the chow hall. He got a cup of broth and two cups of coffee and sat down.

His dreams were drifting through his head as his few hours left of sleeping were coming to an end.

Father, were are you going? Dad!!! Are you coming back!! His dad started the car and drove off. He didn't even say a thing as he drove away. Then Jackal remembered a year later he found a newspaper article with his dad in the obituary. "Jeramiah Fox, was found dead in an alleyway with a bottle of liquor and a 9mm. Apparently he had shot himself".....then it went to a vivid writing that Jackal could not remember.

It brought him back to where he found his mom dead in the living room with some pills and alcohol when he was 12. Mother!!!! Jackal came running to her lifeless side and hugged onto her for dear life and cried himself to sleep. His older brother had already reported it, paramedics came in after Fox had cried himself to sleep. His brother was never to be found after that day.

Fox awoke from his sleep with a daze of beaming light which hit his huge pupils. He stumbled a bit, but the heavenly aroma of coffee carried him over to the pot. He had made himself a cup of coffee and chugged partial of it before he stopped becuase of the burning. AWWHH that fucking burns! Then he paused for a moment to look around, then he walked over and sat down across from dirk.

Taking more and more sips from his coffee. It was followed by some dip in his pouch, the nicotine helped him awake. After the burning of his gums were over with he finally spoke up. Hows it hanging there Dirk?

Images flashed before Erik Jonsson's eyes. Sights and smells swirled, jumbled together, unable to be distinguished from each other. The taste of stale air. The feel of rain filled with slightly too many chemicals to be cleansing. The strain of a hand on an active, rubber-gripped hatchet. Knuckles cracking on buckling bones. A knife sliding through thin cheeks, taking bits of teeth along with.

His dark eyes flashed open, his hand twitching as his first conscious breath strained his sore lung. Hearing the words of Dirk and Fox, but not comprehending the meaning, he was at least given clues as to where he was.

Clenching his jaw, he got up, and walked across the room, rubbing his eyes with a tight fist.

Eric was deep asleep. His dreams had been good and bad, which was a nice change to his normal dreams that were all bad.

He was back in his old apartment, with vivid memories coming back to him. He was talking to his wife, and the clock said 5:11 am. They had stayed up all night talking to eachother. The dream was so vivid, he remembered all the words of the conversation perfectly. He was telling a joke and she was laughing, the sound was like an angel laughing to him. It had been one of the best nights of his life.

Then his memory jumped. It was the worst day of his life. He was searching a landscape of flaming rubble for something. He tripped on something, and fell face first on the same sofa from the other memory. He was crying. He stood up, staggering around searching. Someone was shouting at him and chasing him. He cut his leg open on a metal bar. Blood was squirting out, it had hit an artery. "Eric, stop!!"

He was jerked awake, and he was in a cryotube. He sat up without thinking. He Leaned forward, in shock by the sudden movement. He looked at his leg. The cut on his leg was healed somehow, it was just a scar. he ran his fingers over it again and again.
"Hay Eric, You remember that paramedic I was harassing? Well I told her My neam was Pvt Eric Roberts. You should have some interesting messages waiting for you when we get back"
"Dirk, how did it heal?! I..." Then he remembered where he was. "Oh, nevermind.. What was that, about harassing someone?" he said, with a fake laugh.

Con slid out of the cryo tube and stood up. He could smell the mush some robot told him he liked and it made him nauseous. Stumbling over to his locker Con pulled out a small bottle of alcohol and took a swig. The taste was awful but it helped him feel abit more stable. This was the way he always seem to be starting (and finishing) new missions, stumbling around half blind and drinking.

Opening his locker again Con threw the bottle into the back and began pulling on his clothes, leaving the heavy armour vest for the time being so he could move abit more freely.

"Alrighty guys" he said "whoes ready for some coffee?"

I can tell, you have that smart ass grin on you're face. I bet the grin came from dreaming about men again. Fox burnt his lip with the coffee cause he was laughing so hard, but he stopped as he took another swig of coffee and burst up laughing again with a little bit coffee over himself.

He looked over to see that Eric was there. Fox left, and went to his locker. He put his equipment on, he felt much safer by putting on his vest, incase eric tried to pull a gun on him, the knife would become useful in very close quarters.

Shakeing his head and laughing at what Fox had said Dirk looked up and saw some more of the R&R bandits. "Hay Jonsson. Roberts over here." He called over to them "You got to come hear this. Fox was telling me that in hypersleep he has gay dreams about you guys." Dirk said as he kept trying not to laugh with little or no success.

Slowly registering the conversations that were happening around him, Jacob sighed inwardly and stepped onto the cold metal, wincing slightly - he went to his locker and started putting his fatigues on.

Turning to the bantering marines he raised his voice

"Right, I want you all suited and booted before anyone even touches a drop of coffee! Then when everything is ship shaped you can all sit down to breakfast, I'll give you 3 minutes! All of you!"

He'd decided to turn a new leaf after the incident on the R&R...or at least he was going to try to.

Bojan rose wearily from his cryotube, it was always hell with the bright lights after not having used his eyes for ages, but he forced hmself up to speed the recovery. He put on his fatigues and headed over to breakfast.

He sat down at the nearest seat and started eating. Bojan didn't mind the food and ate it as any other. He looked around at his fellow marines and shook his head. Stories of the street fight had reached his ears.

Dugan awoke from Cryosleep, his mouth felt dry, not surprising as no fluid had passed his mouth for a number of days. If it wasn't for the stimulants that were pumped through electrodes his body would have succumbed to such large periods without fluid or sustenance. As he awoke his brain started to remember the events that occurred while on R&R, the rooky Marines would need to be disciplined, but luckily that was someone else's job, even more lucky for him no one had noticed he had the morphine on him in that alley. Maybe what happened was a sign and he needed to think about quitting that shit.

Dugan clambered out of the chamber and headed to his locker, he keyed in the code and opened it, most others didn't bother locking theirs, but he liked his privacy. Pulling on his fatigues he headed towards the canteen grabbed some beef glupe and a cup of tea and sat down opposite Honeysett.

"Please tell me that doesn't include NCO's" The weariness very evident in his voice.

His blissful dreamless sleep was broken by a sudden white light, and the sounds of whirring machinery and loud voices. "Fuck up you lot, I'm tryin to get some fuckin sleep." He murmured quietly, turning his head away from the light and keeping his eyes firmly closed. As far as he was concerned, he was back on the farm, sleeping outside because he was supposed to be watching the livestock.

It took him a few seconds to realize that what he was sleeping on was a little bit softer than the ground, and the place smelled a lot better as well. His subconcious analyzed these facts, as well as the fact that he had no shirt on and that there were needles sticking into him, and eventually came to the conclusion that no matter what he thought, he was NOT on the farm. In fact, he wasn't even on planet Earth at all.

The memories flooded back to him, and he let out a stream of curse words and oaths that would leave a Marine DI shocked. It sure as shit had shocked his in boot camp, the boot camp he had only just left. And now he was going on a mission to fuck knows where with fuck knows who with fuck all breifing.

Heck, when the breifing had been going on he had been in the bus heading from boot camp and towards the ship. He finally realized that pretending he wasn't here was futile and opened his eyes, and waited for a few moments for the blindless to fade and for his eyesight to actually start working.

His throat felt dry and he felt absolutely terrible. Worse than that, he felt like he was going to be sick. He leaned over the side of his bed and coughed, retching for a few moments before vomit started to spew from is mouth and onto the cold steel floor. After he had coughed up his guts and wiped his mouth, he felt a little better.

"Fucking Cryosleep." He muttered as he ripped off the needles and sensor pads from his body and shook his head to try and chase away the cobwebs of fatigue from his mind. God how he hated this. "Man, I hate mornings." He said as he looked at the Death Adder on his stomache and grinned, stroking the snake's head. "G'day Fang, sleep allright buddy?" He said as he picked up the snake and wrapped it around his right arm.

God how he hated mornings. He nad NEVER been a morning person, and he knew he never would. It was probably really something like teatime, but he didn't give a fuck. As far as he was concerned, it was morning.

He got to his feet (on the vomit free side of the bed) and slowly made his way over to his locker, where he immediatly grabbed his fluffy slippers and put them on his half-frozen sleep. Ah the simple joys of fluffy slippers.

After he got the rest of him changed into his uniform, he traded the socks for boots, and milked Fang (the venom that is, not actual milk) and placed the Venom in a jar, placing it beside the other three in his locker.

After this, he ambled off towards the armoury to put his armour on. He didn't know if the person who'd shouted the orders meant full combat gear, but what the hell? So long as he didn't have to attach his smartgun he was fine with that. The snake, meanwhile, was still wrapped around his arm, and for some reason not trying to bite it off. He'd made sure to have Fang off to hypnotherapy as soon as he had captured him.

Morrison swung his legs over the side of the cryotube just in time to hear Smiles bark at the platoon- apparently someone was as pissed as himself over the R&R fiasco.
The Easy Eights had an overall good track record, but some of the younger members needed some discipline. Hopefully, he and the others in the command-team could instill that in these grunts.

"You heard the man! One minute! Get a move on!" Morrison barked in his NCO voice, shaving two minutes off Smile's timeframe.

After he had put on his boots and pants, Morrison went to get a cup of "fifty-fifty"; half coffee, half chicken broth.

Swinging out of his cryotube Wrench winced at the shouting and got up. he mumbled a hello and salute to the higher ups as he got to his locker and pulled out his gear. Going through his ritual of getting dressed and all that he slams his locker closed ready to face either an engine block or an army. Picking up two mugs he gets some coffee and beef broth and moves on to the drop bay. Pulling off the clipboard he begins taking inventory of the gear allocated for the mission. Sipping his coffee or broth they both tasted about the same at this point and time he goes over the list. Though usually the androids do this type of thing Wrench always liked knowing what he had to work with or on. Hearing the moaning and groaning and general bullshit going on. "Perhaps it is time to go back to basics with these numbnuts."

Pulling off a VP 70 from the weapons rack Wrench loads the gun with the 'training' rounds. Walking back into the cryotubes he fires off three rounds into the air.

"WAKE THE FUCK UP MARINES! Next person caught disobeying orders will be shot and drop out the airlock now MOVE IT!"

That being done he unloads the weapon and heads back out to the drop bay. Putting the weapon back on the rack and the rounds back in the drawer he goes back to his checklists and dossiers under that. Sitting back on a crate his rifle now perched beside him.
