Sal started to smile at the reply, but when it ended, he cocked his head.

"Sir? Did I get a commission on the drive up here?" He laughed, There was some other chatter on the comms, but most of it was echos of people speaking off their helmet mikes.
As he got his first real good look at the facility, he reminded himself how utter utilitarian building construction had become, compared to the days of brick and mortar.

Damn near everything on other worlds were kit-bashed out of the first ships to land. It kept that isolated feeling ingrained in the people living there, and was a helpful reminder that 'going for a walk' usually meant suiting up, if not just slapping on a mask.

"Fuckin' space odyssey shit..." He grumbled as he held point on 'First' Squad. He checked over his shoulder to make sure he wasn't moving ahead to quickly.

"what do you mean they don't show up on motion tracker, I had heard that IR can be iffy but to motion......how the fuck would you not show up except not move?"

"what we do to get rear end Charlie?" eyeball questioned , usually they got the pointy end of the stick up front, " or are we expecting trouble back here?"
"All depends on how they move, MTs are good for picking up humanoids, but non humans? Even air currents can set them off if not calibrated to filter out the ambient. " Colson reminded Eyeball "Just keep your wits about you. And back here with the APC suits me just fine." he finished.

Scanning around he added, "Keep an eye on it all the same."

Morse had a smile on his face when he got a response about pounding the Xenomorphs into submission. From the sound of it it was the Martian. That was good, since it meant that they had new recruits that weren’t too afraid to speak. In his experience the ones that did not speak were practically too timid to really fight. And it meant someone was following his sense of humor.

”Genrally, I aint don’t leave nuff’ ants alive to run up a flag. So I wouldn’t be one tuh know.” Morse said, actually commenting on a practice he had at home of shooting ant hills. Of course ants survived, but it was amusing to him to see the hill explode.

< Tag Sal

Hearing the question posed by Eyeball about their adversary not showing up on the motion tracker got a response from Colson first. He made a valid point, but it was not entirely what Morse was implying. Still it was a good point and there was another point that Morse wanted to make.

”Ems’s also prone to prone.” Morse said referencing them hiding. ”You could walk right on em n’ you wouldn’t even know cus ems aint gonna move an inch.” Morse concluded. Those incidents were rare, but horrifying when they happened.

There was a final question made, also from Eyeball. Questions didn’t bother Morse at all. As long as people were talking it kept him more calm and comfortable.

”Don’t bitch Eyeball.” Morse said. ”Rear guards’s’best it gets.” Morse gave his opinion. ”Typical less shootin’ at ya. Closer to the evac. Easier time seein’ whats to kill.” Morse pointed out. ”If you can pull rear watch, fuck, the almighty’s said that yer his favorite fer the day.” Morse concluded.

He legitimately preferred staying behind, mainly because it gave less risk to him, but also it aloud him to see the targets first and he could eliminate them with more efficiency. He doubted it would stay that way, but he’d find out soon enough.

(OOC: GM approved details)

When Roberts pressed the button, the door made a whirring sound, but nothing happened. He looked at it again, and noticed that the hinges were sprung. It looked as if it had been torn off and reattached for defense. He looked at his marines. "Same plan, I'm kicking it down."

(GM's Revision)
Eric took a step away from the wall, turned toward the door and kicked it as hard as he could. He was surprised by how hard he kicked and almost lost his balance. The door flew off its hinges into the room. Without hesitating to look inside, he swung over to his left and slammed his back to the wall again with a thud. He pointed over his shoulder with his thumb as yet another reminder to his two scouts that they should enter the facility now.

"Creed, Duncan, cover the door. I'm gonna open it. If it looks all clear then go in. Turn on your shoulder-lamps now. And be ready." "Same plan, I'm kicking it down."
Alex his Spas-18 locked, cocked and ready to rock clicked his light on his light and shined it on the door ready to "spotlight" what ever might come out all though the last he saw the creatures that were infesting the area didn't seem to have eyes. That really didn't matter the first big ugly thing to jump out at him was going to a face full of buckshot and the room would be filled with a frag grenade right after. There was the mission and then there was his own survival and of the two his own survival was more important.

As the door clattered off its hinges and Roberts entered Alex stepped inside Spas 18 shouldered and ready to fire. He wasn't twitchy just prepared, there was debris scattered over the ground but not enough to show any thing more than general foot traffic. He would have to be that much more observant..

Moving into the complex Dirk slipped forward a bit. Reaching out his left hand he steadied himself on the wall while gripping his M41A in his right. As he righted himself he noticed burns on the wall, both on the entry wall ans the perimeter. He had seen these kinds of burns too many times. The were the kind of burns that you found after hitting a Xeno hard enough. Standing up he slowly looked around, seeing what must have happened here. The creatures had attacked and overrun the base not only from the outside, but the inside too. The creatures showed once again that they had a working knowledge of tactics

"Roberts, this is Pitt. I'm on your squad's six, hanging back so I can float between your scout team and the main force. Make sure your guys know I'm back here and not to shoot me. I don't feel like being dragged out of here bleeding. Got it? And watch yourself down here. From the look of the area, those things are down here." He said to his old friend.

Obi sat lost in his own thoughts. Fatigue was starting to set in as he blocked out the chatter from the marines around him. The excited chatter and false bravado from the replacement marines rang in his ears, however, Obi ignored it. They would seem test their mettle against the most horrific creature that had ever lived. The creature that had plagued Obi's nightmares since he nearly became a victim of them. Even now he could feel the talon of the creature as it tried to pull him through the air vent. Closing his eyes, Obi breathed in a out and cleared his mind.

Turning towards Sam, Obi leaned in close to be heard over the noise.

"Sam what do you want to do with the new guys? I am a bit worried these young idiots are either: A. Get themselves killed, or more importantly: B. You and I."

The marines moved deeper into the compound, evidence of the assault every where. So far they had found nothing of importance and no signs of life. The corridor within the tower ended at a stairwell. The stairs ran up and down, lights flickered on and off. Anyone listening carefully enough could hear the tale-tale crackle of electricity coming from down below. The compound had once housed forty-five employees. Only one was accounted for!

"Roger that, Sir," and then to his squad he said, "Watch out, Sarge is on our six. No friendly fire."

Eric's eyes scanned across the acid burns in the room. He knew what they meant. The flickering lights were more disorienting than helpful, and he tried to keep his focus.

He switched his headset to speak to everyone. "LT, first level appears to be secured. We found stairs up and down. Acid burns all over the place. No contacts yet. Maybe we should split up to move quicker. Copy?"
<Tag Quinn/Dirk>

Eric took out an M94 Marking Flare and lit it on his pulse rifle. The small fire made a fizzing sound and felt warm in his hand. He dropped it by the landing so they could find the ground floor easily if they had to make a quick getaway.

The interior of the compound was a lot like any of the marines would have expected. Torn metal from claw marks, burnt walls and surfaces that clearly came from acid splashes, lighting that hardly worked at that point. The signs were extremely clear that it was what they had anticipated.

But with nothing there to meet them, it started to concern Morse that they were already within the ambush. Still there did not appear to be the same hive substance on the wall to hide the bugs. Instead it was simply like the assault had happened and nothing more. So for the moment it was fortunate that they had not walked into the hive.

Still it was odd for Morse to see as many acid burns as they did. He would not have expected that, since that would mean the Weyland-Yutani employees would have put up some sort of a fight, which he doubted they were capable of. And it meant that if any of them were still alive they may well have weapons that could do some serious damage. Not that they could completely win, but tending to bullet wounds while getting attacked by their primary adversary was never fun.

Hearing Roberts suggest that they split up, Morse was in an unusual point to agree. ”I’m backin’ scout-man’s plans.” Morse said over the com. ”This is a tight space, with a fuck ton of us walkin’ round in it. If its splash a acid, or a bullet discharge were gonna lose some bad.” Morse pointed out. ”Gonna suggest keepin’ Dead Shots down here in the hall to keep our way out secured’n the rest a yall move on through.” Morse finished.

< Tag All

Morse was not looking to just stay out of the fight, but he did realize they were not exactly playing very smart since it was such a tight space. Splitting the group up would make them more efficient at least.

Morse looked at his squad and shook his head. ”Get inside, and it’s even hot’s’fuck in here.” Morse mentioned. ”Figured Wey-Yu’d spend some cash on climate controllin’ shit.” Morse said with a groan.

Sam saw the clear evidence of a struggle, but no signs of either human or monster remains. It struck him as odd, first off. But he was focused on keeping his eyes open as he entered the facility.

He kept close to Sam, so that if they had to blaze through, the fire would all be coming from one point instead of risking a literal 'cross fire'. He wondered how crossing the streams would change the weapon's output. Might create a nice fire bomb at the cross point... probably not. This was napalm he was thinking about, not some energy particle stream.

As he moved in he took note of the marked panels and pipes along the walls and ceilings. The last thing he wanted was to shoot something, spark a fire, and half to double round to shut off the pipe, Unless that would cut off a pursuing bug.

<Roll Awareness>

Then it might be a good idea.

He just chuckled at Morse's response to the anthill question and when Morse suggested his team stay at ground level, Sal genuinely relieved. That smart gun was meant for wide open spaces, in a place like this it was more likely to misfire and kill one of the Marines.

"Might want to start from the top and move down, Sir." Sal suggested, in a respectful tone. The top of the tower would also give them a nice view and if they could spot incoming movement, it'd be nice to know.

Quinn double-clicked his radio in confirmation of receiving the transmissions from both Pitt and Eric. Quinn shifted the strap on his shoulder that the flamer hanged off of so that it fell at his back. A pump-action shotgun was held in his hands like that of someone who knew what they were doing.

"Recon, hold for 1st squad. Morse, bring up the rear and secure at the bottom of the stairs. Keep the door open. Sergeant, clear the tower room by room in force." Sixtus ordered. It would be slower, but better to secure the tower in force, with the Dead Shots holding down the bottom of the tower.

"Corporal," Sixtus turned to Sam. "let's be about it."

"Copy that, Sir," Roberts said. He stood there watching the stairs while he waited for 1st Squad to catch up. When they showed up he nodded to Samantha Hall and said, "Corporal." He glanced at 1st Squad and noticed a ComTech and a Smartgunner. They would be a useful addition.

"Alright guys, we're going up," he said to his squad. "We're gonna clear the second floor. Quiet and careful, you know the drill. Duncan, take point. Creed, you're second. Move." Eric thought that the shotguns would be best up front, because they were versatile in tight quarters. He sent Duncan first because he had combat experience. When his marines started up the stairs, he followed them with his pulse rifle at the ready.

There wasn't anything Oksana could do at this point except lend the Marines her eyes and ears. She stuck close to Quinn as Dirk suggested. Close enough not to get left behind but not so close as to interfere with his movements. The ruined base was eerie but she wouldn't let the creepiness get to her. She stared hard into the shadows, straining to see around corners without moving, listened to every little sound. In short, she stretched her senses to the utmost.

She spared a moment to check her bag--yes, still slung across her body with medical supplies and extra clips for her pistol. Privately, she knew that if she had to use up her extra clips in one go, the situation was a fatal one and she'd better save the last bullet for herself. It was a cold comforting sort of insurance policy, but Oksana didn't flinch from carrying it ... and if necessary, carrying it out.

<TAG: Anyone, really>

The marines systematically cleared each room until they got to the top floor. The hallwat was filled with debris as if someone was trying to keep something out of the last door.
