With the arrival of the grenades Morse had requested, he was waiting for his recent additions to begin throwing them overboard. Their addition would make a fine defensive line and clear out anything in their path. And that few meter gap that each would bring would be more then enough to confuse their enemy. The smoke would go a long way too, though he never knew the bugs to be deterred by such things.

Still they were dealing with two enemies. A large number of primitives, which were smart enough that they could probably do some serious damage if they got too close, and an unknown number of the monstrous Xenomorphs they’d come across many times before. Realistically Morse was not bothered by the primitives, they were like shooting at goats as far as he was concerned.

”Keep on the fire!” Morse ordered to the marines. ”Aint no one lets up fer shit!” Morse roared with a fiery confidence.

He was feeling at least somewhat optimistic given that they had more people then last time, and were more prepared. But if things took a hard turn he would not hesitate to start urging for everyone to retreat.

His Confederate Flag, which hung off of his ammo drum, was very prominent and his various charms and metallic decorations clinked together as he continued firing with the M56 Smartgun. He thought it would be more effective if he continued with the gun as opposed to halting to throw a grenade. Consistency when it came to killing was scary, and Morse knew that he must have been one of the scariest creatures the Huldra monkeys had ever come across.

”Ems look like there turnin’ round yet?” Morse asked openly, not sure if they were having any real effect.

Mark glanced up at the motion tracker while all the chaos continued, noticing something peculiar. Why wasn’t that group in the back moving? He thought. He thought back to the first wave. A possibility occurred to him, one that might just change their fortunes.

.“LT, Sir.” Mark called into the radio, as “There’s a group hanging back, but they’re in mortar range. I think it might be the Queen. If you peg her, it might just disrupt them enough to let us divert the stampede. I’m sending the coordinates to the APC now.”

The horde was still moving forwards now inside minimum safe distance for M40 grenades to safely be deployed. Eyeball had placed the flamer he had brought on the ground between himself and Wilks, "you any good with one of these?" he asked Wilks as he fired another long burst into the encroaching crowed.

Quinn's mind raced as he saw the bugs easily replace their losses that the Marines were inflicting. Time for a new strategy.

"Marines, belay previous order! Open up on he sons of bitches!" Quinn suited actions to words as his hands danced over the keyboard in front of him. The mortar tubes churned all six shells, raining high explosive death on the group that Giosso had sung out about. The twin-linked minigun in the front let loose with a monstrous roar. But the worst of all was the double-barreled plasma cannon as it tracked the largest group of the beasts. The turret whined and fired with an ear-splitting VREEEEOW.

Samantha spared a moment in all the chaos and gave Obi a grin; "It sure does seem like we're trouble-magnets; doesn't it?"; she asked the Aussie Marine before going back to picking out Xenomorphs and doing her best to put them down with precise bursts....

Pausing long enough to grab some of the grenades placed near him Wilks starts stuffing them on his person. Half listening to Eyeball, as he aims and fires Wilks gives a slight nod of his head as he fires one of the loaded grenade at the attacking hoard letting his actions speak for themselves.

Alex saw the the dwindling numbers and gave a half a grin. Reloading with what was left of the slugs he began aiming at the black heads if nothing else the splattering acid would distract the oncoming hoard.

Sal couldn't tell if his barrage had thinned the herd by any reasonable measure, but it had spent his magazine to the point where he wasn't comfortable with it being that close to empty and the herd that close.

He started to reload, but then saw one of the other new grunts set a flamethrower down and say something. The private next to him didn't pick it up. A smile grew on Sal's face. Not a happy smile, or a fun smile. The kind of smile that got you a wallop from your drill sergeant. It was a wicked smile.

He slapped the clip into the rifle, safety on, and slung it over his back as he bolted between the men and picked up the weapon. It had the same overall set up as a welding torch, except for the napalm.

Safety off, flow narrow and set for distance. Sal hadn't been officially trained with the flamer, but he had taken the basic safety courses for being around anyone with the weapon.

He felt the wind on his face, and tilted the weapon so the flames wouldn't fly up into the face of himself or the wall. Once that shred of precaution was taken, his smile broke into a toothy grin.

"BURN FOR ME!" He howled through his mask. He pulled the trigger and swept the rush of flames in a line between the herd and the base wall.

the WOOF of the flame thrower between himself and Wilks brought a smile to his face.

"nice dude nice..." Eyeball said as the stream of burning naptha spewed out onto the oncoming mass. Eyeball stepped a little further from the new marine, as the flames were toasty even on the friendly end.

commencing again with continued short bursts into the horde, again and again and again.

<OOC Sorry for the delay.>

At Morse's order he dropped from the wall and made a bolt for the central storage where the buggies and ammo were located. K52 bouncing around behind him and breath coming ragged through the gas mask.

Once there Colson slung his rifle and started humping boxes into the back on the buggy.

"God Damn it Morse! Why'd you send me to do this and not one of those other lumps?" Colson complained to himself forgetting his tacnet was probably open.

Making sure to load up some Smart gun ammo he jumped into the drivers seat and set off back to the wall trying not to hit any thing on the way. He never had got his license...

Back at the wall he came to a hard stop and grabbed a create of ammo and huffed it up the steps. Stopping by Morse he put the extra drums by his feet and fell back against the wall.

"Here's... santa.. clause.. God damn" Colson was completely out of breath, fitness was never his strong point. He'd have to catch his breath for trying to do anything else.

Picking out a creature in the teeming mass, Obi triggered a round from hi grenade launcher. Obi grinned ferociously as watched his grenades handiwork as it exploded and he quickly used the pump action and chambered a new grenade.

"I think they know when I want to sit down and read my book. I can see them sitting around going, Oh look Obi wants to read his book. Lets be dicks and run at their perimeter. It will be great fun." Obi's voice trailed off as he let fly with another grenade from the launcher.

"Next planet Sam I tell you, no more weird fucked up things running around. Just boring garrison duties on some little sweet colony world. Deal?" Obi asked as he squeezed the trigger and sent a burst of 10mm rounds down range.

An order came in through Morse’s com piece and he held a finger to his ear for just a moment, holding the Smartgun with one hand. It was difficult to hear Quinn’s voice over the mass amounts of fire coming from their position on the wall, but understood the gist of it. Specifically he had trouble remembering which order Quinn was referring to, hoping it was not one of his own he was negating. But he was able to conclude it was his ‘herding’ plan which was not working.

Morse fired off another burst, and went back to look at the marines with his unit to ensure they were all working at maximum capacity.

”Wilks, chuck more of em!” Morse said seeing the man fire a grenade. Morse wanted a full field of explosive fire striking everything in front of them.

< Tag Wilks

Morse moved down the line of the wall carefully so that he wouldn’t fall off trying to get to the new recruits individually. ”Pistol fuck em if yer runnin’ out!” Morse said to Creede as he came by em. ”Don’t let em figure yer slowin’ up at all.” He concluded moving on.

< Tag Creede

Morse had to stop as he looked over and saw the new Martian recruit begin incinerating anything that was close enough to the wall to be doused by the fire. Morse looked over to see the effect it was happening. A flamethrower was always an impressive sight, and feeling as the heat rained over everyone.

”Fuck ya! Keep that roast goin’.” Morse cheered, knowing that it was one of their most effective weapons. He looked to Eyeball next to him. ”Eyeball! Don’t get a stingy-shit! Open the fuck up!” Morse ordered him to fire more harsh bursts. That may not have been completely advised, but Morse wanted this dealt with harsh and fast.

Finally Colson got back to them with the buggy, filled to the brim with ammunition. Alone he began to get it up to where everyone was. Morse would have had someone help him, but he thought that Colson was efficient enough to get it all up there. But the marine seemed to be struggling with some of the weight. He managed to get the ammunition to them, but the last few feet on foot was a rough sell.

Hearing Colsons reference Santa Clause, Morse disconnected his Smartgun from the harness and set it down. ”Ho fuckin’ ho!” Morse commented hopping off of the wall and moving quickly over to where the buggy was with the ammunition.

He grabbed a crate himself, and understood exactly why Colson was struggling. They were not easy things to lift, especially when moving them up to the wall. ”Coleslaw! The fuck back down here! Yer elf ass aint done deliverin’ Santa’s shit!” Morse continued the joke aggressively moving the ammunition up towards the marines that may need it.

< Tag Colson

He set it down and called over to Sam and Obi on the com. ”Sam! Obi! Us’s got ammo here by the shit ton! Git it here if yer runnin’ to bone!” To those two Morse was not speaking orders. He had been with them for years, and they were all the same rank. He was giving them a helpful thing instead of having them run all the way to the center and back, since they had brought the ammunition much closer.

little arguments broke out in Eyeballs subconscious, on one side drill instructors screaming "short controlled bursts! recruit i see you wasting ammo by spewing those presious rounds anny where but central mass your going to god damn get on your fucking knees and go find them.....DO I MAKE MY SELF CLEAR RECRUIT!!!!!!!" and on the other his new corporal ”Eyeball! Don’t get a stingy-shit! Open the fuck up!”, it lasted mere micro seconds before that small inner deamon that had always wanted to say fuck you controlled bursts! won out.

" more fire power, aye aye corp! more fire power coming right up!" Eyeball responded.

Dirk watched with a small amount of satisfaction as the creatures went down one by one in a spray of yellowish mist that burned through anything it touched, alive or not. Hitting the small button on the side of hid M-41A he allowed the spent clip to fall to the ground with a metallic clank. Then slamming another clip in he rammed another round into the chamber.

"Keep taking it to them Marines. We'll break those fuckers ability to fight sooner or later." Dirk said as he let loose with another burst of 10mm death. "I want incinerators at the ready. Once they get into range I want them burned to the ground."
<Tag Marines>

Before he could say another word the APC entered the battle with a ferocity that was unreal. The mortar sent shells into a high arc before it rained down on the creatures. As it did the twin miniguns and plasma cannons roared to life. One moment the creatures were there, the next they were gone with only a smoking hole left behind.

It was only then that Dirk had a frightening thought. How smart were these things? Could that big bitch know that if they took out the snakefighter on the ground the Marines would be cut off? Looking back over his shoulder he saw the larger version of a dropship siting on the ground.

"Damn." He muttered to himself "Snakefighter, this is Pitt. Get off the ground maintain a altitude out of reach of the creatures. Once you are up there, let them know we don't like visiters. Out."
<Tag Snakefighter>

"Quinn, this is Pitt. I've ordered the Snakefighter into a high altitude orbit around the base. It should be able to hit those things better from up there. Besides, I've got a bad feeling that maybe this attack might be about the Snakefighter."
