Post Gateway Mission Earth

In the president's briefcase missions there was some mention of xenos in the United Americas. Was this cleaned up or are xenos an issue in the UA/rest of the world at this time. Just thinking about it while working on my parris island piece and for any new characters as they might have some familiarization even if very basic due to news footage, FEMA (or something similar) publications, etc.

Seems like a pretty tough thing to completely hide from the general public, but maybe net neutrality helped to bury any publishing of information on the topic available for the general public.

Well there was a mission where we landed down in New York to deal with two human hosts that who brought their aliens into to the sewer there (I believe Gothic Serpent M3)

I don't think we caught one of them, so it could be related to that. - But to our knowledge there have been no further incidents, though it could also be leaked to the small alien outbreak on Gateway station that we dealt with as well.

yea, the stand alone mission where the rogue Lt with the yellow armbands was there, or maybe during the president's request for the specialized unit there seemed to be some mention of an infestation of the UA. Just don't want my poor boot down at basic getting impaled with a spike tail or one of those double mouths. I'll see if I can find it again and post it back in here.

I wouldn't worry about it 'Medic'....... I've seen plenty of fresh outa boots get killed on their first mission anyway here..... so that can happen even if you survive it in boot.

haha I enjoy your sense of humor Morse. If I screw the pooch with my first character, I guess I'll have to try again.

"As you are all aware things have gone FUBAR the last couple of days and weeks. Gateway, as we speak, is still in freefall and the US space forces are struggling to keep it at bay. The station is still infected and will need a mop up operation once in stable orbit. We also have started to receive reports of mass infections in the united americas and people are starting to panic. But thats not why you are here. You were the closest unit that was deemed battle hardened enough. Things are at a strictly need to know basis at this moment. But I need you to be fully kitted up and be ready for immediate VIP extraction. I also want you to tie these to your left and right upper arms"
this is from become death turn 2, which wouldn't be too long ago, was just trying to figure out if some basic knowledge of the xenos would be commonplace or not.

It's not all that hard, just don't be a complete dumbass and shoot anything that fucking moves. It's how I've survived without much of a scratch on me.

I take immediate issue with that statement, strictly on the grounds that all of my injuries have essentially been sustained because I took point, or I was covering the whole platoon.

1. The bullet through the shoulder - covering fire for the whole platoon
2. Severe acid burns - taking point and being the last one out (even though I said we should pull back way earlier and no one listened)
3. The likely concussion from rock to the head - Random hit that could have hit anyone and happened to hit me.
4. Landmine - Took point and had equally disarm score to our alleged "Demo expert", and took a shot

Really.... its not about getting out without a scratch... its mainly just about getting out alive.

Generally like killing everything I see..... which is a process that's still having a pretty good success rate.

Hmm. Well, if the fire mission goes through, we can at least level some of the ground between us and htem.

The alleged "demo guy" will be fixing his training points if he survives this campaign and earns some training points. I had his stats at Professional and had gun combat suffering at common or something. Later revisions changed that and I didn't realize Morse had same skill aptitude then which I find equally vexing myself. It will be fixed! Unless Morse also polishes up on explosive handling OK as to NOT blow his leg off again.

Its fine. At a certain point I found this sort of outcome inevitable. Besides, I only had that high because I've got over ten missions on you, and I still wound up taking my leg off.
