I've always wanted to set up this thread, but am only now getting around to it. - I'm curious as to what people would consider the 'soundtrack' the platoon. - Namely I'd want to know what everyone thinks the 'Platoons Theme Song' is, as well as the Theme Song for their character.

I know music goes a long way in to understand who people are, and I always liked these kinds of threads on sites like this.

So to recap.

What do you think is the platoons theme song?

What is your characters theme song?

Why stop at a theme song? Why not an entire playlist?

But if you want something to make an entrance with, I rather like this one:

Just Ad Naseum from the Halo Wars OST by Stephen Rippy.

At 56 seconds, it should be just long enough for Morse to kick in the door and hose down everything in the room.

If we're looking for incidental music for individual scenes or moments (mostly instrumental)....

Just about anything from the Halo œuvre would do, either by Stephen Rippy or Mssrs. Salvatori and O'Donnell

Then there's Brand X Music:
"Acid Reflux"
"Internal Combustion"
"Battlefield"
"All or Nothing"

Psykosonik's "Panik Control" is another good one for storming the castle.
KMFDM's "Juke Joint Jezebel" is perfect for this sort of thing.
Rammstein's "Engel" is another favorite of mine.
Napalm Death's "Twist the Knife Slowly" would also suit.
Mutha's Day Out "What U See/We all bleed red" has some good moments.

For shredding everything in sight, this one works:
Bile's "I Reject" really lets it rip.

Lunatic Calm's"Leave You Far Behind", both vocals and instrumental versions would also be good for clearing a room.

The list above is by no means inclusive of everything I've heard by these artists or even of everything I've downloaded over the years via YouTube or purchased online. For instance, I haven't offered any titles by Sean Callery, Bear McCreary, or Michael McCann or even Jesper Kyd or Zach Hemsey. As a listener of music, I tend to the instrumental, rather like a soundtrack in search of a movie instead of the other way around.

James Screaming Eagle's song would be Mars the Bringer of War by Holtz.

I'm not really a music guy.....pretty much stopped caring sometime in college and now I'm in my late 30s and don't know who half the artists are the few times I turn the radio on. Plus, I'm unusual in that I always hated music during gaming, it just distracted me, so this is an odd question for me unless I think of the games so far as "movies" or episodes of a show....hmmm

I've never been a big classical or metal kind of guy; I'm more of a Blues, Classic Rock and Old-school Hip Hop kind of guy; so for the platoon in general I could see Zepplin's "When the Levee Breaks" or Jimmi Hendrix (or Stevie Ray Vaughn's cover) "Vodoo Child/Slight Return"; and turning to Rakim's "Lyrics of Fury" when the action gets heavy.....something along those lines

For Samantha; I gotta go with the classic Brother Bob (Bob Marley) tune; "Exodus"

I'm in the same boat as Sam, in that I don't know most of the music on the radio these days. I'll turn it on and if I like the music, I'll listen to it. If somebody starts singing, I usually turn it off! LOL. Most voices these days aren't really good and they cover up the music. Blechhh. This is the main reason I tend to the instrumental--nothing gets in the way between me and the music being played and I'm free to make up the movie scenes in my head without lyrics (sung badly with a bad voice) dictating what I see.

That's not to say I don't like lyrics AT ALL. I love voices like Nat King Cole (and his daughter Natalie), Chris Isaak, Chet Baker, kd lang, Tracy Chapman, and others. The main thing they have in common is their voices are GOOD and they enunciate clearly. Otherwise, I'll just listen to foreign language (including Latin and opera) for lyrics. The words become musical notes when I can't comprehend the language and I can appreciate the voice as a musical instrument.

I actually have to REALLY like the music; the voice/lyrics is pretty secondary to me; as long as its not really, really distracting (I can't stand country twangs or Opera.....I recognize the immense talent, but it is just GRATING to my ears); but the music has GOT to be something I enjoy. It's great if the lyrics are wonderful too; but to me that's really secondary...I'm all about the beat/rhythm.

Hmmmm.. I think that Dirk Pitt's theme song would be Metallica's S&M Enter Sandman.

For Morse, I'd probably have to go with
