Hey Nick, wanted to touch on the idea of canister shells for the Pulse Rifle Launchers. Are there rules for more than just grenades? Or can we make this work (basically use shotgun rules, but extend the range a bit?)

I would think so, but it also may have more energy behind it and/or more BBs in a single shell. Which is why I'm asking Nick.

A .12 guage shotgun rounds are around 18-20 millimeter in diameter whilst a 30mm grenade buckshot load is, err well 30mm so it has a larger capacity both powder and pellet/flechette wise.

.12 Gauge by the way are a measurement from the time of muskets, it was how many musket bullets you could cast from a pound of led. Thus 12 gauge means twelve bullets, 16 gauge means sixteen bullets and so forth - The fewer the bullets the larger the caliber of the musket. This measurement stayed with the shotguns into modern times. The shell length however uses the metric or imperial system still.

Yeah why not, I will just "oomph" it up a bit - Bare in mind though that more than one round per combat round will be impractical due to the fierce recoil.

Nick is right on about the history of shotguns...one important thing to remember to those who know nothing about shotguns though....the higher the gauge, the less "power" of the blast....i.e. a 10 gauge hits harder than a 12 gauge and a 12 gauge hits harder than a 20 gauge; etc.

Actually, there is no real difference between 16 and 12 in most shot sizes - hunting rounds compensate the smaller diameter with more powder. When hunting is concerned you cannot tell difference in effect between 16 and 12 both deliver the same ammount of death downrange.

Either way its bad news if you are standing in front of one.

Not to mention safer (and MUCH more effective) in a confined space!
