Squads & Reserves

I am currently shifting through all applications and even with 4 squads there will not be room for everyone from the start.

USCM have 17 spots and over 30 applications right now.

This is the unfortunate back side of slimming the game down somewhat. I will pick and chose freely of those that I think will make the game what I want it to be. New or old it's nothing personal, if You don't get picked this time well better luck next time. Don't like the way I run the game, well...

I am just writing this to allow people to mentally prepare Yourself to not get a spot this time around so we won't get people who get abyssmally disappointed and go emo on the forums.

After selection of characters is done I will select five players and place them in a reserve pool. This pool is not active and are reserves for players going AWOL from main campaign more or less. After those five are selected all non playing applications will be purged.

Applications will then be closed until next mission starts and we will do a new recruitment drive.

Can't we have maybe two platoons?

Or a boot camp for the new people? It's better for them to make mistakes in gameplay in boot camp rather than in the campaign.

Chuck the newbies through boot? I'm all for that.

I vote an emphatic, that's right Emphatic no for boot camp. The problem is two fold. One, if it is to be done right, nick should really run it and I doubt he'd like that/has time for that. Two, by making grunts the lead stars, it doesn't translate well into the campaign when grunts should be grunting following officer lead.

When I think of bootcamp, I think of the troubles it has brewed.

While Bootcamp has its merits it also has its disappointments. Trust me I have seen it from both sides of the equation. I ran bootcamp for a while and nobody completed the tasks laid out. Then when you let other players run it no offense to some of them. All heck broke loose. If there is a bootcamp it should only be allowed for those who do not have a character in the current campaign.

If I'm not chosen I swear that I will paint black mascara on my face change my name to Emo Tim and start writing really bad angsty poetry like this -

All around me is dark,
Liquid seeps from my eyes,
Why does life hate me so?
Fin.

Seriously though I'll take it like a man if I don't get chosen.  A really, really sad man that cries a lot, but a man indeed.
