M2T13

2179 AD, 28th September
Location: CSC Sector, Saint John, Anubis station, Sub level 3
Mission timer: 00:00:48:18

Dugan skidded down the long 45 degree slope in the air duct with a rattle and ended up in a short straight that led to a metal grating. Dugan advanced quickly, his ears still ringing from the charge they just had exploded to cut the air duct behind them. The mission was not even an hour old and he felt exhausted, his legs burned from lactic acid. He reached the grating and kicked it a few times, slowly it gave way and fell out onto the floor some three meters below. Dugan turned around and went down on his stomach, slowly he slipped over the edge, holding it with his hands. By this time Patch had caught up and was covering his descent with his weapon. The room that the air duct lead out to seemed to be a rather wide corridor with extension leading both to the left and right. The air was chilly and smelled faintly of disinfectant fluid.

"Kurosaki, Anderson come in over" Andersons voice broke through the ether. "Yeah, took you long enough!" Kurosaki spat. "Sorry about that, I have uploaded the schematic to your radio. However...your locator signals are wrong they say You are on sub level 3" Anderson said, her voice a little strained. "Thats because we are on sub level 3" someone grunted.

The Marines quickly filed into the corridor, the floor was clean and not covered in the fine ash as level 1 had been. "Weyland-Yutani Bio Weapons Division" A marine read out loud from a poster on the wall showing a glass vile superimposed over the W-Y logotype.

Someone was just about to crack a joke about their crotch and bio weapons when he was interrupted: "Single contact, 50 meters, slowly moving..." Patch suddenly said.

Sub level 3? Great, now were down even farther from the surface. This mission is bullshit, Ishizawa thought to himself. He was still bothered by Mongo's death, but he still had to get 3rd through the whole mess.
"Single contact, 50 meters, slowly moving..." Patch suddenly said.
Ishizawa immediately swung into action and went up against the wall, peeking around the corner down the corridor in the direction of the contact. He looked down at his tracker, he was picking up the contact as well. He took up a position in the hallway around the corner and knelt, aiming his pulse rifle straight ahead.

"3rd, take up position in the hallway for now"

"Single contact, 50 meters, slowly moving..." Patch suddenly said.
Johnson saw this on his Tracker, dropping out of the air duct with the rest of the squad. He moved with Ishizawa and whispered to the Corporal. "Sir, contact is moving slow. We're down below right now and it doesn't look as fucked up as above. It may be a survivor." He said, shaking the Tracker slightly for emphasis. Johnson hoped, even if friends had died, that this mission wasn't for nothing.

Dirk got out of the air duct and hit the deck, his boots echoing in the hall way. He looked around for a moment, seeing nothing he reached into his pocket and fished out a pack of cigaretts. Takeing one out of the pack he lit it with his weathered Zippo lighter.

"Ok 4th, we've made it this far. Lets see if.. He said, stopping when the high pitched whine of the motion tracker went off.

A chill went up his spine as he looked at one of the trackers the platoon held. "Single contact, 50 meters, slowly moving" he heard someone say.

"Get ready for contact 4th. Fire at will if you see one of those things, but check your targets. It could be human. If so, keep your distance. We all saw that thing punch its way out of the last person we found."

Unlike many of the others who had violently dropped through the air vent, Morse slung his M41A over his shoulder as he took hold of the opening and eased himself down to the floor, as though he were getting down from a set of monkey-bars. He looked through the room, he walked towards the wall and read the words "HOLDING CELL A4." Why the hell is there a holding cell down here.

Morse looked left and right, and jumped a bit when the shriek of the motion tracker came about. He imediatly took up his M41A and looked down the hallway to his right. His flashlight lit up the words "PERSONNEL ELEVATOR". He took a step towards Dirk.

"Which way we goin Corpral, Down Cell block row or towards the Elevator?" Morse asked. He was ready to fire at any time, and was still set to burst fire on the M41A. A bead of sweat slid down his face as he waited for Dirks response, and continued to chew a piece of now flavorless gum.

"Which way we goin Corpral, Down Cell block row or towards the Elevator?" Morse asked.

"They'll be using the elevators." Quinn said aloud, hefting his remote detonator and waiting until the last Marine was out of the air shaft. "Fire in the hole!" he shouted, took cover against the wall and pressed down on the cap.

"3rd, take up position in the hallway for now"
"Aye, CPL."  Obi responded obediently as moved into position.  Taking a knee he braced himself up against the wall to have a chance to catch his breath and rehydrate. His whole body shook from the vibration moving through the walls as PFC Quinn set off his charges.  Replacing his water bottle back into its pouch on his webbing, O'Briens eyes narrowed as he took in the hallway.  "Hey, what do you make of this, the levels above were filthy and covered in dust, yet down here it is spotless, either those things are domesticated or someone is making sure they still have a cleaning service in place."

Weyland-Yutani Bio Weapons Division
"hmm bio weapons, not liking the sound of that" said patch still intently watching his motion tracker..."can that cooperate skirt give us any information on what was down here?....and may i suggest aggressive info gathering considering what we have already found!!" patch hoped his sarcasm wasn't lost on the LT

"just the one contact sarge still no change, schematic shows lift to the right...but we know that's a bad idea...no other obvious exit apart from the one we came down, and i ain't going that way even if you paid me in huge breasted naked blonds" patch may have used humor but he was addament...no f'ing way was he going back up that air shaft.

Simovic clambered out of the air shaft and tried to get his breath back. Then the the motion trackers started whinning signalling a lone contact.
Obi wrote:

"The fire must have only effected the upper levels, Patch found a report top side that indicated an automated lock down of the facility occured because of it. So chances are that Johnson is right and this could be a survivor down here".

"Kurosaki let Andersson know whats going on, tell her we're going to investigate".

"Squad 2 I want you to wait here, secure the area and Quinn give medical aid if anyone needs it, Squad 1 lets go and check this signal out, Patch lead the way".

Simovic took a swig of his canteen before moving out behind Patch, who led the way with his motion tracker, while Windrider brought up the rear.

Sliding out of the duct, Monks looked around and saw a long corridor "Hey sir where are we going" Monks asked, while trying contemplate how he didn't just die. He was there and that's all that matters.

"It could be, but don't let your guard down. And there's a pretty good chance those creatures will find a way down here, unless they already have"

Ishizawa looked behind him to see that section 1 began moving towards the contact.

"Orders Sergeant Honeysett?"

Dirk exhaled a stream of smoke, watching it rise to the top of the hall way. He checked the rounds on his pulse rifle, 62.

Covering his he got close to his squad "Looks like that company skirt and her pet lawyer either don't know what the fuck is down here or they just won't tell us. He joked in a low voice

"Sergeant Honeysett, You want 4th to do a room by room sweep of the area?" He said

Erik kept quiet and close to his Cpl and where the others of 4th Squad had gathered. He listened to what his Cpl said.
He also kept an eye on the motion tracker.

They didn't know what was down here. He thought it a good idea to believe it was a hostile environment. He kept the flame unit up leaning against his shoulder and at the ready in his right hand.

He did a wide sweep with his tracker in his left. For now it only picked up the one contact.

"Maybe it's a survivor who would know what they were working on down here and what those creatures we ran into are and how to stop them?"

"Where you been Buddy?"

patch looked at the schematic..." well sarge we can go the short way, past the lift shaft, or the long way past the cells wardens office and server room...could be some info in there," patch began to show his preference by heading west past the cells hoping that Simovic wouldn't call him back and go the quick way past the lift shaft.

"I think one of the squads should guard the elevator shaft, maybe rig some claymores or some type of boobytraps in front of it. If those creatures are using the shaft like they did before.

"I hope that contact turns out to be a friendly and can show us a backdoor or secret exit or something."
