Location: CSC Sector, Crysalis, Camp Castaway

22.00 hours local time

The last dropship took off, it's turbojets screamed profusively as the heavily laden ship slowly rose from the landing pad. The shipped bobbed slightly back and forth. The metal around the jet exhaust glowered deep hot red in the dark night. The wind gush from the engines whipped the tell tale black dust of Chrysalis into the faces of the Marines. The cold air combined with the needle prick sharp specks made it a wholly unpleasant experience to face the ship. Most Marines hunkered down as the ship rose.

The two ships on station hovered high aloft, occassionaly changing position and firing of bright white flares that fell towards the ground in a shower of sparks.

The last dropship accelerated away from the base on a south east vector. The two ships above, keeled over to one side and in uniform made a wide sweep over the base as they accelerated away.

The silence which followed was eerie. The wind moaned as it forced it's way through the ruins and the left behind APCs, of which three were still in operational shape.

All Marines of the expeditionary force had been evacuated and the Bandits recieved orders to move out in 20 minutes: To make it north and secure the crossroads. This position was zeroed in by enemy mortars and there was no reason to hold it any longer.

OOC: I want the squads to be mounted up in the APCs by the end of this turn I also want a squad manifesto who rides in which APCs. The seat placement will be randomized by me - The reason for this is that the game uses a very accurate penetration system where each marine is modelled in his exact spot in the APCs. So when...err...if You get a penetrating hit I know exactly who dies...err...gets hit.

patch watched the departing drop ships accelerate away, relief swept through him, somehow he had expected something to go wrong with the evac.

he quickly scanned the enemy positions and down at his motion scanner , more out of habit than actually expecting anything to be within its range, still better safe than sorry. all seemed still and quite

"orders cpl Heart?" patch almost whispered across the coms as if speaking was going to bring all hell down on him

Simovic helped the last of the expedition force onto the dropships. He turned away as the ship rose from the landing pad the dust and wind whipping into his eyes and face he crouched down trying to use his helmet to protect his face. The only thought crossing his mind was that the lucky bastards were going home.

As he was mulling this the new orders filtered down from the LT that they were to move out and hold the crossroads North of Camp Castaway, probably just as well as it was only a matter of time before the mortar barrage began again.

He clicked his Sections comms channel "Squads 1 and 2 I want you to mount up into the APC nearest the landing pad", He then jumped into one of the APC's the Expedition Force had abandoned and drove it up to the landing pad.



[O.O.C Nick is LT Anderson and her Marines still guarding the base? If so maybe we should leave them one of the APC's?

"Aye aye!" Quinn responded to Dugan once the order filtered through. Running back to the makeshift hospital, he packed up the K52 Medical kit into his pack. Grabbing his pulse rifle that was laying against one of the corners, he trotted out to the APC. Everyone else was probably inside already, and he made a quick look around before shutting the door.

"All in Sarge, cocked, locked, ready to rock." Sixtus popped into the mike before settling down into a seat.

"Squads 1 and 2 I want you to mount up into the APC nearest the landing pad"

pvt patch made one more quick scan around the area to make sure no one was about to rush his vacated position then picked up his trauma kit placing it in his pack hooked the motion scanner in its place checked his load out on his pulse rifle.."99..that's odd" he thought "did i really not fire at all?"

then turning he backed off the hill with the rest of squad 1 down to the waiting and relative safety of the APC.

Kurosaki sat down, not saying anything. His rifle was in front of him, still fully-loaded. During the combat, he had just hid. He had a good reason to anyway, he had the only radio of the group, except for Logan, who may have combat shock or something of the same nature.
He had a feeling.... a bad feeling about this APC....

Tomala ducked out in to cover. He listened to the orders being told over the comm. He reloaded his pulse rifle the counter had read 40 before that. He always rode with a full clip. Ordered to mount up in the APC's. They were going to hold out the crossroads which would be diffcult. Tomala was almost certain there would be some type of resistance. He checked his gear and began to mount up in the APC taking a seat around the first seat in the APC. He held his trigger tightly and sat until the rest of the Marines moutned up.

Octavius looked around questiongly as first and second squad ran to board one of the APCs.  Looking around for Corporal Silvanus, Octavius managed to spot him a fair distance away.

"Corporal Silvanus which APC are we going to board?" asked the wiry Private over the squads frequency.



"Ishizawa you spotted the other member of our squad yet?  Maybe he got hit in all the firing!  Hey who's our comm guy?  I'm on the smartgun so it cannot be me."



Switching the comm frequency Octavius tried to get in touch with Sergeant Honeysett.

"Sergeant Honeysett are we going to sweep the area from where the enemy troops came from?  They could be gathering there again and we could probably pick up any weapons that didn't get fried when the dropships came in and bombed them into bloody smears."

OOC: Lt Anderson is still there with four Marines from her command APC.

Dirk watched the last dropship fly away with the remnants of the expeditionary force on board. The loud roar of the engines faded to a eerie silence as they faded from view. For the first time sense he had landed he felt cut off.

He lit a cigaret and stuffed the pack and old Zippo back into his pocket. Looking from man to man he saw the same apprehension on their faces that he felt. First contact with the enemy, a mortar shelling, the evac of an entire expeditionary force. These things weighed heavily on his mine as he absently smoked and checked over his sniper rifle.

"Fourth squad, sound off." He said over the comm.


As he waited for an answer he looked over at the APCs. Looks like we're going for a ride. He said to himself.

"2nd Squad, get ready to board on the APC" said Erika

[Quinn]

"2nd Squad, get ready to board on the APC" said Erika

"Already there Corporal. Recommend we destroy the other APCs so the rebels don't get any shiny new toys." Quinn popped over the comm, setting up at the APC weapon station for the twin-linked particle beam cannon. Remembering training, he flicked the switch to bring the weapon system online. It did so with a few beeps and a deep throbbing hum that he could feel through his chest. Several screens came online, his eyes dancing over every one of them in a quick check.

"Main cannon online." Quinn swung the weapon around in a 360 degree arc, checking the landscape with the onboard IR sensor.

Conrad jogged up to the APC that Sergeant Simovic had indicated, and pulled it's sliding door open, letting the faint outside light into it's pitch-black insides.

"First Squad, mount up. Move it!" Heart's voice was a hoarse growl over the communications net. As the Marines  passed him, he counted them all off. He then entered the APC and stowed his M-56 on it's designated rack. 



"Sarge- Squad one is loaded up, all counted." He snapped to Simovic as he took a seat and strapped himself in, trying as hard as humanly possible to break his habit of falling asleep in the APC's seat.

"Everyone, into the APCs"

Jones headed to the APC with Sergeant Simovic.

"Monks here, sir" ,he said while  running to the APC. He was still a little shaken from the battle but he was ready.
