Sorry about the lack of...

Post by Apachetear » Tue May 19, 2009 10:48 am

Sorry about the lack of posting, I'm currently moving abode - and so internet access is limited at best...

I'm also thinking of joining up with the Royal Artillery...discuss? :-D

Real life comes first, don't worry about it...

Artillery sounds far enough behind the frontlines :)

That was my thinking - and I've always liked the MASSIVE guns when looking at military doings...flattening emplacements from a good couple of kilometers rather than crouching behind a car and getting shot at ;-)

Artillery gets shot at, it's called Counter Battery Fire. Instead of being shot at with small arms, you get shot at by the same type of huge guns that you are firing.

Hmm...I was hoping that had been ruled out as a military tactic ;-)

Ah well - Still wanna go into the Royal Artillery as an officer...do something different & interesting in my life as opposed to boring ass desk work...

My girlfriend also wants to go into the army air corps...chopper pilot...

Go for it Apache, a career in the services is one that is extremely rewarding.  You will work with some of the most dedicated group of people in the world, not only from your own forces but also all the other Allied Nations.  The ability to travel the world either on active operations, or for some R & R   surrounded by your mates is a great feeling.  Either be some pretentious wanker in a suit sitting in a office pod from 9-5 sipping a  latte and kissing arse, or sitting in a foxhole with some of the most humble, dedicated, honest and loyal people ever put on this Earth.  I know what i would want!
