Mission timer: 03:25:00

The Ship hovered a few feet over the ground, the gusting winds from the exhaust ripped and tore in the canopy around the ship. The Marines leaped from the cargo bay and jumped the last bit. Pvt McKenzie and his K9 jumped second to last. Lt Vincent gave the cargo bay a last glance for left behind equipment before facing the collossal rainfall outside. She landed heavily on the soft ground.

Moments before they had dropped off the first squad at their Drop Zone.

The dropships engines revved up into an deafening shriek and the ship pulled away, pitching to its side as it rose into the inky sky above. The Marines quickly dispersed and set up a porcupine defense circle around the LZ while Vincent and Morrison met up in the circle for a quick check on the GPS where they were.

A huge lightning bolt clawed its way across the sky above, sending a flickering eerie light over the scene for a moment. The Marines where all but invisible, their faces painted in camouflage and their helmets covered in realistically looking plastic leaves - Matching the surrounding environment perfectly. With a blast the roar of the thunderstorm struck their ears, the very ground trembling beneath them. Few of the Marines in 2nd squad had seen such a fericous thunderstorm as this one.

Eileen looked up briefly into the driving rain before turning back to Morrison. "Alright, let's not hang about here. Get everyone ready to move. It looks like HQ have a couple of surprises waiting for us, Recon have already run across one sentry gun armed with live ammo, so make sure everyone's one the ball, no screwing around."

Checking his corner and priming his weapon before lowering his rifle pulling his pack off and making sure there is no rips or tears in it. Sliding it back on cursing the fact that he probably the tech specialist for the squad. Thing was pretty blasted heavy and on top of that he got his side satchel with the gear he might need immediately. Checking his corner again he peeked out of the corner of his eye to make sure that everyone else was doing their tasks while Morrison and Vincent talked. Calling out instead of using his radio which might be picked up giving away there position.

"Are we going to check with HQ on that one ma'am?"

Looking over at Bren whispering to him. "Keep a sharp eye out they may have leaked our drop point. I don't want to get fragged right the gate. Don't think Lt. be thrilled with that kind of performance."

Going back and scanning the perimeter.

Gareth took up his position, scanned his section of the perimeter and brought the pulse rifle to bear. The warm rain quickly soaked his equipment, and himself. With rain dripping from his face, Gareth focused on doing his part.

"Roger. Time to frag Mr. Murphy, I owe him one." With that Gareth chuckled under his breath.

Immideatly upon exiting the craft, Morrison did a quick headcount, and 'took a knee' peering into the darkness as he listened to the liutenant.

"What!? Are you serious?" he cursed under his breath. Not quiet the suprise he'd want on a training op.

"Ok Marines! We're gonna move into the bush right at our 12. There we will set up a perimeter, and you will remove your helmets- your ears will serve you better then your head in there." Morrison said as he stood up and nodded towards the green wall infront of him.

"I'll take point! Now, move out!" he barked, as he took long strides towards the jungle.

Whispering over to Mckenzie as we move out. "Well good to know your going to be out front providing that early warning."

"Hey Lt. think Recon has enough experience to disable the self destruct on the sentry turret. I might be able to reprogram the sucker so we could use it later. And if they don't then you might want to tell them to get out of there quick if they disabled it. If the operator on the ball he will pop that sucker to get whoever took it out. It might not be an actual explosive but a electronic pulse to simulate one. And we just lost a Recon squad and wouldn't that be end of mission?"

Pulling off his helmet as soon as he enters the jungle. He wishes he had requested one of those scopes for his pulse rifle. He knows he isn't a bad shot but the scope would let him get a better view of a situation.

Grabing his pulse rifle, Jimmy, got in place as he jump from the dropship together with the rest of the squad. Once on the ground he grabbed his rifle and got a look around their LZ. Their enemies could be everywere around them in the dense jungle. James stopped when a lightning bolt appeared on the sky above and then then a storm came. At least it provides us with more cover, they won't even know what hit them, the idea crossed his mind while he checked the knife hidden inside his right boot.

Aye, aye ma'am he grinned then he removed the helmet from his head, the he entered the closest bush with his senses at full loking for any trace of activity or enemy. He loved that kind of missions to clos onto the enemy undetected then to quickly strike them. In his life with the marines he found himself more then once in those kind of conditions and he managed to get back alive every time thought some of his comrades felt in the line of duty.

All that could be seen was a shadow moving slowly through bushes and from tree to tree from time to time stoping looking around. That was his life.

Hunter smiled as he kneeled next to Ares. "Its what we do. Just cover my ass, while I'm out there!" he added as he pressed a toggle switch on the elaborate harness that his partner was wearing. Sliding an eyepiece over his left eye he smiled at his fellow marine and turned to where Morrison was crouched.

"Ready when you are, Sarge!" he added as he waited to take point.

"Second that, McKenzie, you're on point- Jones! You are McKenzies Protection detail, you don't let him out of arms reach at any time is that clear?" Morrison then somehow succeded with the precarious task of putting on his eight-point and inserting a lump of dip- at the same time.

"Private Wolf, you just sank from a hundred to eighty-five. Do I look like a female to you? They must be ugly where you're from, huh?" Morrison said with a smile.

Looking up at the rain as he got his map out, Morrison's thought drifted to good 'ol smiles. Poor guy won't be able to support his habit in this weather...

Tracing a finger across the laminated piece of paper on his knee, Morrison raised his voice.

"Listen up, marines! Target is northeast of us- we've got a bit of a trek ahead. I don't want any fancies- simple column, slow and easy- keep eyecontact the entire time. Don't want any of you ducklings to get lost, after all." spitting out some flecks of tobacco, he continued "marching order as follows- Wolf, I want you behind me, McKenzie, Jones- you're on point. Bren, you're tail-end charlie. In case of contact, we'll form a line, lay down fire, and I'll asses the situation from there. Questions?"

(OOC: Eightpoint: what the Marine Corps "cap" or headcover is called. Line: The squad rushes up to the position of the pointmen, forming a line on the way there. In a jungle, the line is usually rather short, usually there's no more then 3 meters between each man.)

A smile could be seen on his face when he heard his Sergeant answer, just a litle mistake and a moment of day dreaming for a second those thought almost came out his mouth but he stopped in the last moment.

A quit nod from him then his reply came: "Aff, following you, just like a shadow. You wont even know I'll be there."

Eileen paused for a moment as a voice came over her command channel. After a few seconds she muttered a reply into the communicator, then cursed loudly.

"Slight change of plan, Corporal," she walked back over to Morrison, close enough to talk without the rest of the squad hearing, "Just got a report from Eagle. He's got two unidentified black dropships passing overhead."

Eileen shook her head, "Live sentry guns, dropships from nowhere and Field HQ aren't answering the radio. I'm not proceeding until we confirm this is part of the exercise. Recon are going to take that lookout tower, maybe they'll find someone there who can explain this, but I'm not relying on that. We're heading to the Field HQ in the colony ruins to get confirmation before we continue."

Getting the go-ahead Hunter bends down and after getting Ares' attention makes a sliding gesture with his left hand. "Search!" he adds sending the canine out ahead of the patrol.

As he stands he re-adjusts the gain on his eyepiece effectively seeing what his partner sees..and more. Hunter marveled at the technology that they used on a daily basis. The harness not only relayed physiological information about Ares' status, but also provided real-time Intel as to Ares' surroundings, such as meteorological samples and audio visual input. The harness also had a few offensive surprises that fit well with Ares natural and enhanced capabilities.

Flicking his comm back to the squad net ,"Ares' out, Sarge and we are five by five..."

Gavin kneels back down and looks to be readjusting his pack for the long hike. Instead he was pulling out two live ammo clips for the pulse rifleand sliding one into a pocket on his leg as he stood up. Sliding up next to Mckenzie and slipping him the clip he whispers softly in his ear. "Something not right here and I would like to keep my whole squad alive. Especially the four legged kind and the guy out front. Don't load it but I would recommend keeping it close at hand." He slaps Mckenzie on the shoulder and moves back about 3 meters.

Keeping 2 to 3 meters behind Mckenzie not really trying to be stealthy or silent. While Mckenzie keeps an eye out front Jones keeps an eye on the flanks. Lowering his rifle whenver it tranverses over wher Mckinzie or when he sees the dog. If Mckenzie stops Jones takes a knee and scans in a 180 arc left right and 60 up until he starts moving again.

"So Mckenzie they tell you why they assigned you to this outfit?"

With all the motion from the wind and rain it obvious that Jones is distracted and just a bit nervous. His only hope on his mind is that the dog and Mckenzie will give him enough warning to do his job. Even though he has never shot anyone before in his life.
