"Two contacts! Signals clear. Range fifty meters and closing. They're fast!" Bojan shouted over the Com. The unmisstakeable sound of the motiontrackers "ticking" sound could be heard transforming to the "pinging" sound that meant it sensed movement.

A shrill of fear gripped the marines, like a stone cold hand squeezing their hearts - Something was coming down the two corridors. Something that moved very fast.

With a feeling of despair the Marines painfully realised that the cramped corridors were far from an ideal place to fight in, at most two marines abreast could stand in the corridor. The bends would also let any enemy get uncomfortably close before they could open up. The bulky suits made it very hard to maneuver at all and all senses were hampered by it - Fighting in close combat was out of the question. On top of that the engine room was very hot and moist the thick suits did not improve this - Sweat streamed the faces of the Marines small droplets hanging onto their brows and chins before disappearing down into the suits.

The sparsely placed red lights was mere beacons in the pitch black darkness as the frequency of the pings increased each second. Faster and faster, closer and closer the contacts came. The hears ran in unison with the increased pitch, throbbing in the chest beneath the thick suit armor and uniform. The Marines shoulder lights did their best to chase the darkness away, but as soon as it left the darkness immidiately flowed in like thick sufficating black water from all directions.

"Still closing" Bojan proclaimed.

"Still closing" Bojan proclaimed.
James' pulse quickened at the sound of Bojan's voice echoed in his ear drums.
"Okay First Squad, we got the front, I want all eyes on the incoming target to our 12 o'clock position. I want us to hold our current formation. Anything that comes round that corridor will either acknowledge our orders to lay down face first with hands on their heads or they will enjoy the sounds of our Pulse Rifles dropping them supine. Sarge, I am leaving our six to the Second Squad."

Con listend to James' orders and moved next to him with his rifle poining forward. In the cramped space he had very little movement room and he could only move his rifle in a very small circle without hitting James.
"Ok split the corridor up, James shoot anything on the right, Ron go for the left. Me and Jakob can give cover fire from the back." Con said, he then looked at Screaming Eagle for conformation on his plan.

Bojan helped Steel to organise 2nd squad to watch the platoon's six. When prepared, he tracked the contact in roughly the 9 o'clock direction to see if it came any closer.

OOC: Do our suits stop us from firing from prone? Would the head "bubbles' not let us see forwards.?

OOC: You can do it, but it will add a hefty minus to all to-hit rolls I make.

Here comes the dragons said Ronald for himself, no radio on or anything, he made himself ready, and one thing was sure if something came in his corridor and wanted a fight they wouldnt win... Well that was he thought and Ronald felt maddly happy about the corridor, straight bullets forward.

"Fucking finally, an ice-breaker...the tension was starting to get to me" Jacob grinned a wide ear to ear grin and fell to one knee, aiming through the gap between Screaming Eagle's and Con's, he made sure the muzzle of his gun was in front of them as he aimed out - as he didn't want any friendly fire incidents.

Another thing...slightly more beneficial for Jacob than anyone else...was that Con and Jim were like a living shield for him. Until this mission was over, Jacob (while he wouldn't admit to anyone ever) still saw the new people as fresh meat and he wouldn't fully respect and trust any of them until he'd seen them in combat.

Aiming down his gunsight he whistled his tune louder and louder - radio off, it helped him focus...he didn't know why. One thing he did know was that he was gonna get himself a few new smiles for his suit...he'd buy the suit as his personal one after his paycheck - take it as his own for any mission requiring one.

Jacob cut all thoughts out of his head - he was left with a blank void, his only purpose at that moment was to wait...aim and kill.

"Sarge, I am leaving our six to the Second Squad."
"Roger that L Cpl Eagle," Nick replied on the command frequency before he switched back to second squads frequency.

"Second squad, remember don't open fire until you're sure of your target. Order whoever it is to lie face down. If they are still coming towards us you are to open fire. Bojan keep me updated on it's progress we should be able to make out whoever it is very soon. Pyro remember your training and be prepared to shoot straight, marine!"

Sweat from his brow was dripping into Nicks eyes, and he blinked rapidly to try and clear them. The salt from his sweat stung his eyes but he'd endured worse and focused on the task at hand.

Whatever was coming was fast and it didn't help that the marines were confined in these narrow hallways, but Nick had faith in the 'Easy Eights' and knew they would be able to react to whatever was coming.

Con put his motion tracker on the ground where hw could still see it. Con then flicked down his tactical sites and put his finger on the trigger of his Pulse Rifle, his sensitive fingers feeling the tension on the trigger and pulling it back to the point where only a fraction of an inch was needed to pull back and begin firing.

The suits made it hard for Con to regulate his breathing but he did his best, sucking in the air and breathing out slowly, he didn't want to fod up his helmet too much.

James glanced down at the motion tracker, without hesitating he picked the piece of equipment up and placed it on the slot configured to hold the thing on Con's pulse rifle. "Con, that is a priceless toy you left laying on the ground and if we have to retreat you are not going to want to have to pick the thing up, nor do you want brass chewing you a new one when we get out of this situation."
He peered more intently down the corridor the glowing blimps on the screen to his left moving ever steadily closer and closer, almost matching the rhythm of his heartbeat with its blinking movement. From what he could tell they had 5 seconds until they had visual. "Okay team, we should have visual at any second now. Heads up and eyes open."

Con put his rifle through the handle of the motion tracker as its the only way he could see to fit the motion tracker on. Con almost overbalanced with the weight of it and turned to Screaming Eagle with a quizzical look.

OOC: Wouldn't the motion tracker be WAY to big to fit on the end of a rifle?

Bojan was starting to get twitchy, those blips seemed to be taking a while to get there.
Con put his rifle through the handle of the motion tracker
Bojan saw this and grinned, pointing out a superior's failures is never a good idea even if you are right. Alexander seemed like a good enough sort to have as back up. Bojan hoped Con didnt get punished.

James gritted his teeth, there always seemed to be one in every crowd a wise acre who thought he was a comedian at the in opportune time. He reached over and unslung the motion detector and flipped out the attachment arm from its slot in the grip. He quickly and deftly inserted it into it's mate on the rifle's stock. "Pvt. Con, if you would kindly follow orders and can the chatter I would greatly appreciate it. All this crap is doing is causing the squads to be distracted. Concentrate on your task at hand." James inched forward, his infrared eyepiece in place as he scanned the area before him. Nothing could be made out in the reddish haze, he checked the ceiling to make sure nothing was come at them from that direction. "Con, do the schematics show any kind of duct work over head or below our feet? Whatever it is that is coming should be within visual contact at this point."
"Sarge, any contact from your bogey?"

Ten meters as the corridor arched to the right something moved. First it was hard to see anything all in the darkness. It inched forward, slowly.

As it came closer it appeared to be a large creature, black in color with a long head. Spines pointed up from its back and a long tail that ended in a sharp spear like bone was held up in the air behind it. The Alien turned towards the marines with a jerk as if it just detected them. It raised its head and stood for a few seconds, its eyeless mask of horror watchfully observing them.

Slowly with a high pitched snarl it opened its mouth, strings of saliva dripping from razor sharp fangs. The marines stared in utter disbelief and fear at this abomination of a creature. The creature snarled warningly again and started to move backwards from them very slowly.

James caught a motion at the farthest reaches of his vision. He raised the pulse rifle to his shoulder and sighted down the barrell. Waiting for the movement to swim its way out of the reddish haze.
As it came closer it appeared to be a large creature, black in color with a long head. Spines pointed up from its back and a long tail that ended in a sharp spear like bone was held up in the air behind it.
"Holy crap", James muttered under his breath. He heard the other's sudden sucking in of breath.
Slowly with a high pitched snarl it opened its mouth, strings of saliva dripping from razor sharp fangs. The creature snarled warningly again and started to move backwards from them very slowly.
James had his sights centered on the long black head, he knew that he could fire a round at the head, but he also knew that his odds of making a head shot was very good, so he slowly moved the barrell until the chest filled his view. He calmly exhaled his breath, and added the necessary pull on the trigger sending stream of fiery lead screaming at the beast befoe him.
With his next breath he gave the order, "Open fire! Send that hell spawn back to the dark reaches it came from!"
